Like most people on the forum I'm not too happy with the changes of the latest patch.
But for a while I have suspected a player of being a bot which have been even more confirmed with the latest patch. For the past two hours he has done nothing but log in and out (warping to and from the station) at 1-2 min. intervals.
Maybe the recent windows moving around and "align to" on bookmarks has broken his cycle.
While on the subject - what do you guys do or what should you do when you suspect someone of botting? File a petition and let CCP handle it?

File a petition is the official way, but it will be largely ignored.
best defense against bots is to can flip/suicide gank them. Most botters will move after loosing a few ships. Once they move, they become someone else's problem. -----------------------------------

His name isn't something like Bepa, is it? That guy was logging in and out every few minutes the other night, all night. I thought it was a 0.0 macro ratter, but I agent located him, and he was in high sec. Suggestion: Remove the "new topic" button from everywhere apart from the list of topics section within a subforum.
That'd save those with chronic hand/eye coordination some face. |

No. But always online, always flying a hulk and now stuck in limbo between station and his logoff safe-spot.

So to stop bots we who aren't have to not only put up with a font from 1985 but UI windows that won't stay where they are put?
Wouldn't it be better develop a log sifter that looks for activity that is too regular to be a human being instead of a bot, and pay GM's to investigate the hits the system produces from it's data mining?

the managment guys atm think its more dollar from the macro acounts then losses from degrading the game.
instead of eve gate and other crap they could set a team fulltime to identifying macros but no they have no incentive.

Yes, but monitoring for unwanted behaviour and taking steps to prevent this behaviour before it causes, for example, a country to go bankrupt is not something that the people from the north west of Europe seem very good at doing.

A log-sifting program that is capable of identifying inhuman patterns could easily highlight most or all macro users. Bi-monthly permabans of obvious violators would drastically reduce their numbers.
This would be very easy to do, but it's never been done. Conclusion: CCP only cares about macro users if they're connected to RMT schemes. Joe Blow running a macro on his extra laptop is of no concern to them.

I guess you never heard of that little ccp operation called unholy rage? The one where they banned over 9000 botter accounts after a single downtime that led to one of the funniest times in eve-o history with the appearence of audrey bitoni school girl?

It's two minutes now so no need for that logout/login trick anymore unless you really are spamming.
