I saw a previous 'argument' that people were discussing low sec ratting with the Scorpion, but I'm thinking of how to contribute to maybe high-sec wars.
To me the Scorpion looks like one of those 'really good on paper, but bad in action' ships. I know it's really squishy, but I'm trying to think of which ways to load it out for group combat.
I was thinking of armour tanking it as most of my skills right now were in training Amarr(maybe even beams+Neut/Vamp in highs). Not really looking at bringing the damage, but is the Scorpion viable or is it too big and unwieldy?

Highs with cruise for the best possible cross hull applied dps with mids filled with ewar along with ew supporting rigs and lastly a basic armour tank so the guardians can keep you alive long enough to make a difference.

dc2, 1600, 2 eanm. do whatever your planning in rigs/mids. range for jammers, how many of whatever type of jammers. then decide if your going to be close in and use torps/neuts or be far away and hardly contribute damage with cruise doing loldps. vs 1-3 targets with a similar sized gang of 2-3 they should feel the fear...and run. or pop you really fast. but this is a game and meant to be fun, so do try to have fun while losing it. your always primary. Edit: or not

Scorpion is generally considered a support ship. Your mainly there for ECM, anything else you can bring to the fight is secondary. Also as a scorp pilot you will be primary. I perfer an armor tank as most of your mids are going towards ECM, basicly though your ECM is your tank. If you are looking to join "group combat" it depends on the group, you will not fit in well with a fast HAC group. You would however be pretty good fit in with a RR armor BS gang.

You can armor tank your Scorp if you think it'll be small-gang action, else you should opt for the range tank: warp in at 100km+ and start jamming from there. It's really not hard to push your effective range on your jammers past the 250km hard targeting limit, so ranged Scorpions are extremely effective. Keep in mind that they are also extremely fragile no matter how much you try to tank them. -- This signature is red. |
