You got a highly specialized PvP faction ship like the Ashimmu and yet lack the skills to properly fit it? Atleast get faction guns then.
In PvE you can somewhat get away with faction ships without T2 gear but in PvP...this reminds me of a corp mate flying a Deimos with T2 small guns and drone rigs because he couldnt fit anything else.
For a group a Curse may have been a better choice although properly fit an Ashimmu would bring more DPS.
As for the questions...yeh ofcourse Meta 4 will work. Just know that if the ship ends up on a killmail with them....well....hilarity ensues.

You could use faction gear, but that would just add to the lolfailfit. Faction Gear really shines with the skillset that T2 items require. As a personal rule of thumb, I don't fit faction gear unless I can fit t2.

Scorch or go home, I'm srs. If you cannot use t2 guns, do not waste the isk to buy faction ones, just set up your queue for less ******ing. When you die, people will lulz at your m4 or faction guns. For those who are unaware, c-type adaptive plates are only about 15mil and give a significant resistance increase. If you're stingy, use t2.

Edited by: Daneel Trevize on 10/10/2010 18:42:44 Scorch range is important on this ship, you should have faction 14km+ webs and at 90% the target won't be going anywhere once in range, but you're armour tanked and maybe fitted with AB or scrambled, so you have to strongly consider you won't be in multifreq range if you go meta4. Also with them webbed that much T2 ranged ammo tracking's less of an issue, but you should also have them full triple bonused medium neuted.

This is absolutely terrible. First off, check your metas. Anode is NOT Meta 4. Second off, you don't have any of the skills you need for it (weapon upgrades, hull upgrades, etc). I'm offering you 135 mil for this Ashimmu to save it from you and the lulzmail it will make.

That small neut will bring you too close to the enemy ship... you WANT to keep out of warp scrambler/web range and dictate the fight. Go too close and you WILL die. _______________________

This is also acceptable. That fit is decent as long as everything is T2 on it. Also get advanced weapon upgrades high enough to upgrade the guns to Heavy Pulses (with the 100% bonus the extra DPS is very worth it) and fit 3 medium neuts.

Uh, without a range bonus the medium neuts mean you HAVE to be in scram range. Worse comes to worse you neut them so hard they lose point and warp off. For this reason I actually suggest an AB, especially if you're using it in highsec.

If you were perfect, you'd web and neut them somewhere at fed navy web 14km and meta4 medium neut 12km range, just outside overheated regular scrambler range, but it's an armour tanked fat ass and they'll just glide into their needed range even if you knock their mwd off. So then you neut everything of theirs off with 3 mediums. |

About 10 to 11km from the target. At that range you are just within/beyond overheated non-faction scrambler range. However you are still close enough to use your guns, neuts, and your faction web effectively.

The range for medium Meta 4 and T2 neuts is 12.6 km. Max range for an overheated, non-faction scrambler is 10.6 km. And with a faction web that can be used out to 14km and that 90% velocity bonus the target is not going to be going very fast... MWD or not. _______________________

If you wanna use it as overpriced webbing platform sure, but if you intend to use the neuts you gonna be in scrambler range. Not in theory, but in practical application you will.
Which is not a problem since the Ashimmu is intended to work at close range, just have to keep that in mind when fitting it.

Ashimmu is one of the best pvp cruisers ingame, possibly only the cynabal (Vagabond) and Gila are better. That kinda, all goes to sh!t, without being able to use scorch...

Adaptive Nano Plating II: 19.2% increase. Centii C-Type Adaptive Nano Plating: ~25% increase. Max skills applied on both. Remember to not check info from a module on a ship vs. one not on a ship in EFT.
And while faction guns give you the best damage if you can't fit t2, the risk/isk factor makes meta 4 a better option. Either way, you're forgetting that you should never fly what you can't afford to lose and don't know how to use. ---------

This is an oh-so-slight modification from my original Ashimmu, but this is designed to fit perfectly (1775/1775 grid) to allow you to squeeze on a Slave Omega.
~160,000 EHP.
The Ashimmu is a brawler, and in a small gang this is a great buffer tanked harbinger of death.

sansha microwaves are also great for hot pockets and left overs. i think those spikes on the rotating plate help keep stuff in place while it's being heated. really makes a nice difference. I'll never buy anything but sansha microwaves again.
