This never happened during the masstest last night 14th Oct (maybe i was to drunk to realise)
Settings >> Optimise >>> Quality
The nearest moon to FD-MLJ Intaki Bank station, is artifacting (small white dots flashing) around the outside of the moon, Iv flown to a few other moons / planets, the artifacting only effects some moons.
Turning off HDR stops the artifacting.

Yep I get that too. I got it during the mass test aswell.
I'v tried to take screen shots but never caught it happening, a video might catch it though.

I get theese as well. Mostly in belts tho, the roids look like a christmas tree with flashing white lights.

Edited by: RiotRick on 16/10/2010 13:49:22 Yes same here, the aa option in game still has the same problems you get when you force aa in your grapichs driver.
AA + HDR gives lightbulbs Just AA gives white dots on the edges of asteroids.
Same way it has been for ages.
Here is a screenshot of my sisi client from today, 4x AA + HDR + Bloom on with in-game options:

Edited by: NightmareX on 16/10/2010 16:00:32 I don't know what you guys over are doing. But i have a Radeon HD 4870 1 GB card and i'm running Sisi now with HDR enabled and the Bloom on high and don't get those white circle artifacts now.
I have that on TQ though and i also had it on Sisi earlier. But now after they have improved something on the graphics, i don't have that artifact anylonger.
But still, you can barly see that there is some white artifacts on asteroids. Just look on this picture here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7309753/2010.10.16.15.46.04.png
Do you see the few wite dots on the asteroids there?
Well it's clearly artifacts, but for me, it was a huuuuuuge difference from earlier when i had the big white circle artifacts on asteroids and planets.
The artifacts i had on the planets earlier on Sisi is basicly totally gone now.
So, if you have an AMD (ATI) graphic card, then try to install the newest driver to it. You can find it here.
Just choose the operating system you are using under 'ATI Radeon Video Card Drivers'.
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) as operating system.

Edited by: RiotRick on 18/10/2010 17:57:33 The white dots you have is exactly what I get with AA enabled and HDR off. With HDR on I still get the white blobs.
I re-checked it just now. It's still the same. Are you sure you have HDR on?
/edit:
This happens when you have the catalyst settings all on "Use application settings"
However now when I force my catalyst driver to 8xAA and Anisotropic Filtering to 4x and Adaptive Anti-Aliasing to Quality, the artifacts are completely gone. No more blobs, no more white dots in windowed mode. In full screen mode the performance drops to < 20fps (>90fps in windowed mode) and the white dots re-appear. Looks like they have changed something. But still not working entirely right.

Actually IÆve seen that from time to time on Tranquility too, usually on a gate or something when warping to it.

Edited by: Companion Trollin on 19/10/2010 06:20:41 As far as I can tell the white dots/bulbs around the borders of moons, planets and asteroids have something to do with reflected light - try positioning a planet or moon between you and the sun, you'll notice a ton of dots or flashing blobs around the edge where there should be some kind of subtle refractive effect.
e: asteroids do this from any angle, planets and moons do it most often when they're between you and the sun.

Same here. Every time I warped to any asteroid belt with AA on, I had flashing spark problem on the roids regardless what the screen angle I was viewing though - they were always there.

Isn't this a known problem with AA and HDR in general? Or was that AA and transparency? I know at least Silent Hunter IV has a SERIOUS problem with this on Nvidia cards. If you force AA and look at your sub through the water surface, all lines will be heavily artifacted by little white blobs, just like this.
I don't know if it can be fixed locally or if it's a driver issue. Then again, this particular problem seems present on ATI aswell... ---- The Demigodess with a Conscience - An EVE IC Blog

I had the described artifacts back when new graphics first hit TQ and nhancer was needed to force AA+HDR. Around the same time the fix came out for the NVIDIA cards: use compatibility value 0xf0000045.
Never had those artifacts since. Read about it here. ...

Edited by: AlleyKat on 02/11/2010 01:41:01 Confirming this graphical bug.
Win7 nVidia Card (latest Drivers)
HDR + BLOOM + AA (very messy at belt) BLOOM + AA (everso slight graphical glitch where larger spots were) HDR/BLOOM/AA all switched off (no problems)
Switching shadows on and off did nothing, but I wouldn't expect it to.
Unfortunately, CCP does not support AA [which I will never understand - and they will never explain] so, we'll need a new hex code for either nHancer or nVidia inspector, because neither of them will get EVE looking good using the 0x00000045 code.
Good luck finding it :)

Didn't know where to post this so just looked for the most recent post with regards to ATI AA and flashing white dots.
You can run AA+HDR+BLOOM without issues if you change the AA type to Supersampling (SSAA) atleast it does with an HD6870.
I think CCC only offers this on 5850+ iirc

When I forced AA with nhancer on TQ I never got these artifacts.
I uninstalled nhancer and updated my drivers to check out the native AA on Sisi, with everything on max, HDR, bloom etc. Had these white artifacts randomly appear on moons and stations a couple of times, but they always appeared in asteroid belts.
All my drivers were completely cleaned when I updated them, and this is on an nvidia 285 GTX.
The native AA itself was really nice though, I noticed the performance was better over the similar settings I had in nhancer. Can't wait to see it artifact free (Hopefully) on the 16th.

Yeah I have it really bad. Every asteroid lights up with white dots and it gives me a head ache. Been like that for a long time. I like to play my games with the highest quality on. So hoping that it will get fixed sometime soon. :)
