One of my characters has had a Viator for a few months, but never needed it for anything. Now I need to haul some cargo into 0.0. When I first got it, I had done some research, and tested the things that I felt were high points. I remember everything went well, but I don't remember what I tried.
The fit is: High: Covert Ops Cloaking Device
Mids: Y-T8 ECM Burst I Cap Recharger I
Lows: Nanofiber Internal Structure I X 2 Inertia Stabilizer I
Rigs: Low Friction Nozzle Joints I Auxiliary Thrusters I
So how do I fly it? I've got 26 jumps to go to pick it up from where I left it.
Can I warp 0 to a gate and go through, all while cloaked?

It's pretty simple. When you go through a stargate you are temporarily cloaked for up to 30 seconds until you do something. In this case you'll select your destination stargate, press "warp to", and then press "cloak"... you'll only be de-cloaked for an instant. You'll de-cloak again when you land on the out-gate, but can jump in a second or two.
In 0.0 the things to watch out for are bubble camps on the gates, from which you must maneuver at sublight speed while cloaked, and smartbombing battleships waiting on the out-gate. The best solution to both problems is a scout in a shuttle or covert-ops frigate.
ALthough a blockade runner can evade such dangers, it's not recommended that you even put yourself into the situation where you have to.

Thanks, Joe. The guy who forgot to take his Heavy Missile Launchers with him will appreciate it.

Your fit is generally good.
I'd personally prefer an additional nano-fiber instead of an I-stab.
A warp core stab might be a good insurance policy if a ceptor manages to snag you with a warp-disrupter before you start cloaking. But those instances are rare at best.
What you really have to worry about is a bubble camp. IE a camp with an interdictor or static warp disruption bubble Here's what you do.
1)Locate the celestial object thats in the direction of the edge of the bubble. Doesn't matter which direction it is from your ship, passive alignment is a myth.
Do the following steps in rapid succession.
2) Click align to that object.
3) Activate your cloak as soon as you click.
Watch out for the black box on the top saying that you cannot activate your cloak because you are already cloaked, that means you pressed too early and are still under gate cloak. If that happens click cloak again. DO NOT spam the cloak button, that would make you uncloak and die.
4) Activate your MWD. You will have a second or so of window to activate your MWD before your cloak engages. It's a very narrow window, don't be afraid to spam that button.
You will now be accelerating towards the edge of the bubble at MWD speed. Your MWD will be red because of the cloak but it's still providing a speed boost.
5) Start spamming the warp button. Once you are out of the bubble you warp to the celestial.
It's possible for a ceptor to get close enough to decloak you, especially if they had drones assigned to follow. But there's not much more you can do.
6) Once you drop out of warp, pick a random celestial and warp to it at a random range. A safe spot would be better.
This is just a precaution, some times they'll send a fast ship and hope to decloak you on landing, most times they'll just forget you.
7) optional Begin smack talking about how they fail at bubble camping.
I recommend you do a couple of practice runs in high sec to get the feel of it. This could save your ship and cargo multiple times over. It's also useful for recon and covert-ops ships.

Passive alignment has been the subject of much debate. Anywhere I can find the definite 'proof' of this ?
Drones will not decloak you, but they WILL prevent you from re-cloaking. Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie

Thanks, Lu. I'm going to give that a try. The area I need to go through is full of bubbles. Many are abandoned but they still scare the **** out of me.

Strange to see you posting this Acy, since your the one who taught me how to jump through 0.0 by clicking your MWD then cloaking. What have you done with Acy?

The wiki, on passive alignment
A more detailed examination here
Further evidence, a webbed freighter going into warp side ways. If the model orientation had anything to do with alignment, this would be impossible. I've seen this happen with my freighter numerous times, the supposed "warp sideways fix" was a cosmetic change that meant that freighters don't come out of warp looking sideways.

I like to fit my Viator with align time in mind, so I fit mine like this:
[Viator, sneaky] Nanofiber Internal Structure II Local Hull Conversion Inertial Stabilizers I Local Hull Conversion Inertial Stabilizers I
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Medium Cargohold Optimization I Medium Cargohold Optimization I
The cargohold rigs are so I can fit a bit more cargo, I normally do just fine as i align in 3.6 seconds without the mwd and go 1.6km/sec with the mwd making the mwd/cloak trick relatively well. _____ Where am I? Who are you? and where is my horse? |

Thanks a lot. This myth is indeed very persistent.
Just to make this clear for the new guys: The direction you want to warp has no effect on the time it takes to warp if you're not moving (like after a jump). So you can warp right behind you and it takes as long to get into warp as if you warp straight ahead of you. If you're already moving it DOES matter where you want to jump how long it takes to warp (i.e. in the direction you're flying -> shortest, straight behind you -> longest). And there's ways to mess with the mechanics as talked about by Lu Hsun (seen and used this myself). Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! You should really check out Escoes blog, he discusses fittings for industrial ships in low sec, also implants which help you. If your not familiar with him, just message me in game and I can give you the links.
His fittings for Orcas are especially interesting. ( Just realize the guy has about 2 bil worth of implants, which cuts down his align time. Either way, it's a good read)
