Hello. Recently, having set up a extraction facility on one planet, i set up a production facility on another, converting base metals into reactive metals. I have a command centre, space port and storage centre all linked to one another in a triangle. I have succeeded in setting up one production facility, with base metals going from the storage facility to the production centre, and the reactive metals going the other way.
however, if i try and set up another production centre, it tells me that what is stored in the storage facility, is not one of the ingredients for the loaded schematic, even though it is full of base metals and it is possitively a reactive metals schematic loaded into the production facility. I've tried using one storage facility per production centre, but get the same message.
any help? is there something i'm doing wrong or is it a bug?

Exporting raw materials and importing them to another planet is going to east all your profit in import/export taxes.
Best do do extraction and p1 on the same planet in very case. Also have everything routed to the space port to/from the spaceport. This will make sure you use all of the extracted materials.

Is Planetary Production worth it moneywise?

I'd call it "worth it" in the way that it 's almost entirely passive.
you won't get stinking bloody rich doing it, at least not at any sane level, but you'll have a hard time beating the effort/Isk ratio once you have it set up and running
doubly so for a new player with limited resources/skills
and to the OP: I'm having a hard time visualizing you setup, as it seems a bit... odd.
but you must have something mis-routed or other wise bonkers, as there's zero reason you can't have one storage facility feeding multiple factories.

Here we go:

1 = command centre 2 = storage facility - 3/4 full of base metals 3 = Spaceport A = 1 basic barren production facility uploaded with reactive metals schematic B = another basic barren production facility uploaded with reactive metals schematic
A operates fine but when i try to route B to the storage facility it tells me the storage facility contains none of the ingredients for B's loaded schematic.
I've tried running the production facility off the space port but i get the same message.

1. You don't need to connect the Command Center to anything 2. You don't need the silo at all. Just use the spaceport for everything that needs storing. 3. Check my guide (practical example) on how to makes routes. Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie

Got it working. Must have been more ill tired and drunk than i realised last night and was probably doing something real stupid. The cost of linking is negligable so i don't mind linking things up to make it all look neat. OCD. I do need a silo as the rate i'm going through base metals is pretty high now, the extra storage is a must.

Read Louis's guide.
Going over to the test server to mess around and learn how to do this - where you aren't spending any money that counts - helped me. I went to the same system on Singularity that I was going to set up in on Tranquility and made a number of practice colonies. I had to recreate them after some of the Singularity updates - but then I was there for practice so that was a good thing.
There isn't any one way to set up a colony. You need to fool around with it a little bit - and then go ahead and set it up for full production once you've figured out just what you want to do. Each Planet is different and different spots on the same planet will give you better results than others. The amount of attention you want to put into maintaining the colony is a major factor too. The bigger your storage areas the longer you can let the thing go. You can operate your colony from anywhere but you have to be in that system to export what you've made. So - think about how often you want to visit that system. If you live there - it's one thing - if you have to fly multiple jumps it's another. Again - playing with things on Singularity can let you try different ideas and see how they work.
Another thing is - you'll probably get more advice over in the Science and Industry forum. Most new players probably aren't doing Planetary Interaction.

PI can actually be very, very profitable if you do it right. Like all industry in EVE, it's very profitable if you do your homework..and if you don't, you'll be lucky to break even.
