I DLed the TQ client last night. 15 mins later it was installed. Never have an issue with DLing or installing.

Could be a related HTTP proxy issue (either transparent/non-transparent kind) having to do with large downloads. Since the EVE client download is served entirely on http by the CDN it'll choke on your proxy if there is no proper bypass rule. I wonder if the auto-downloader works on http as well.
CCP needs to offer an alternative FTP link that works through FTP rather than http .... and of course the real BitTorrent option as suggested by Chribba in another thread. |

why would HTTP keep me from DLing TQ but not Sisi though?

Edited by: Sturmwolke on 29/10/2010 16:04:02 Because the full offline Eve client is 1.8GBish and your SISI update is just a minor patch. Latest 185699-196666 SISI offline patch is abt 15MB and largest I've seen to date (this year) was 250MB ish during the time when they put out character design demo from Incarna.

Originally by: Jason1138 Its not bad enough that every time they patch Sisi that gets all screwed up, now we can't DL TQ either?
i've tried the auto install, that failed, tried DLing it manually twice, the first time it froze with 20 min left and the 2nd time it says the DL is corrupt and to DL it again
so now i'm trying bit torrent. The auto installer hasn't worked for me in like 2 months, maybe you guys could check that out? I mean i don't know why its even listed as an option since it won't work
did you already check your RAM? ---

yes, everything's working fine on the PC. as i said, its a new machine with nothing else on it and i've already DL'd and run the sisi client so i know that its both capable of DLing a file that size successfully without isp size limits or anti virus conflicts and also that my machine can run eve just fine, because its running the sisi client
it just won't unpack TQ

Just make a copy of your SISI, delete the common.ini and run the repair.exe tool The repair tool should be version 3.06. Once it's done checking, you're looking at a 26MB download to revert the files back to 185699. Try that out.
P.S Looks like they reverted back to the common.ini pointer to distinguish between SISI / TQ :P

that's the best idea i've heard since this mess started. i tried it an unfortunately it doesn't work as the repair tool still recognizes it as a sisi build even without that file

Nope not on my (working) SISI install - see link You're doing something wrong.
Infact, I just wasted 30+mins running backgound repair on the SISI client to revert it back to Tyrannis. Loaded up and connected to TQ fine too.
P.S The repair is very interesting, it appears to be writing and moving bits into the file, rather than doing whole file replacements .. or is it just my imagination. Anyway, good work CCP

"Nope not on my (working) SISI install - see link You're doing something wrong. Delete the start.ini too, just to be sure."
when i run it, it says that its repairing sisi. it still recognizes it somehow. i guess i could just delete huge chunks of it and see what happens but having deleted the part you said to delete, under "build folder info" on the repair tool it says its repairing sisi so i don't know what i'm supposed to be doing wrong.
i'll try it again tomorrow i guess, or maybe customer service will actually be able to help me. their only suggestion so far was to run the repair tool so i'm not hopeful but i guess we'll see

The important bit is to confirm that it's actually pulling the patch data index - PatchData_185699.dat & RepairData_185699.dat Did you check what version is your repair tool?
Download v3.06 repair tool from - http://cdn1.eveonline.com/client_repair/306/repair.exe
Re-run, ensure to delete 2 files, common.ini and start.ini
If it's still trying to patch to SISI 196666, then you're SOL because there are no other trigger files that informs the tool about what version is installed. As far as I can see, the behaviour of the repair tool defaults to the latest Tyrannis patch when it's unable to locate any trigger files.

doing it that way turned my sisi client into another TQ client though, which is another bug that i'm not going to bother filing a report on
it might have something to do with me monkeying with it earlier but as long as i can get on TQ i don't care about sisi so whatever
