working on a fit for a tengu but i am struggling with the powergrid :(
i am using evehq and this is the fit below
[Tengu, Current tengu fit copy 1]
subsystems Tengu Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst Tengu Offensive - Accelerated Ejection Bay Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir Tengu Electronics - CPU Efficiency Gate Tengu Defensive - Amplification Node
high 3x Heavy Missile Launcher II 3x Heavy Missile Launcher II
medium Adaptive Invulnerability Field II 2x Cap Recharger II Kinetic Deflection Field II Thermic Dissipation Field II Large Shield Booster II
low 3x Ballistic Control System II Power Diagnostic System II
rigs 3x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
my problem comes into play when i try to fit the large shield booster, fitting this takes me 1.97% over the max powergrid i have available i have 787.5MW. fitting the large shield booster takes me upto 803MW
however when i play with the HQF pilot manage and play with the skill settings ie tweaking the levels all to lvl5 my powergrid "USAGE" drops to 740MW with the large shield booster II fitted.
my problem is i cannot figure out which individual skill/skill's is effecting this :(
any advice appreciated |

I was going to post AWU as the probable skill in question.
More important is your fit.
You really need a prop mod, and I recommend a shield boost amp or a TP in place of the other cap booster. Cap is rarely an issue with a PVE Tengu, unless you are specificly being neuted by a rat or tower.
Bottom slot, the power diagnostic is not as good for that ship as a damage control would be. Or a speed mod. |

AWU is always good, there are other oft overlooked fitting skills:
* Shield Upgrades 5 - Useless most of the time, until you really really need it.
* Rigging Drawbacks - All the weapon system rigs have CPU or grid drawbacks. Again, mostly useless until you really need it.
I've used this fit with a low-skill alt. Just keep moving (orbit the warp-in beacon at 10 km or the acceleration gate at 500 m), and you are invincible. With more skill, you can do a lot better than this fit though.

Target painter.
And yes, the fit needs work. Unless you're direly short on cpu I'd definitely go for a boost amp over a painter. The AB is a must either way. |

Well, to translate into English, a lack of familiarity with target painters is a sign that one needs to get more proficient in missile combat (where a TP can make the difference between slamming a target and wasting most of your DPS on empty space), and given that a Tengu is a half-billion-ISK strategic cruiser whose entire offensive punch comes from missiles (we'll ignore turret Tengu fits because, well, there's a reason they're called "failguns"), mistakes can be prohibitively expensive.
Not that a Tengu fit necessarily needs a TP, but in a lot of circumstances, it's useful for a missile boat, so you'd have to understand what it can do, and what its drawbacks are.

That fit will act like a Tengu is supposed to act.
Are MoonWarriors still in Syndicate? If so you will do good to fit specific hardners, kinetic/thermal for the rats there. And T2 missiles will help. GL |

cheers for the reply, i am rather dissapointed that i cannot fit a large shield booster II without going over my cap, i also read a thread recently that said something about avoiding t2 missiles, as they increase your sig radius and don't hit as hard?

Don't misunderstand what that thread was about. It was specifically about difficulties killing frigates, and most especially elite frigates that web and scram. For those, you want to avoid Fury missiles, but the second post actually suggests using Precision -- the other kind of T2 guided missile. |

Thought I would mention it just in case. You can get up to 5% power grid there. The 3% ones are cheap. Not that you should cheap out when flying a Tengu. |

ive ran 6/10 with t1 meta 4 shield amp and t2 medium booster and never had to run it full time course i couldnt either. so you really shouldnt need a large. the biggest thing with the tengu is the subsystems. getting those to 5 really opens alot of doors |

I am with you on this one. I can't fathom out all these abbreviations and nicknames for modules and skills. I would rather people just use the full name so that I know what is what.
Many time I have had to Google something to discover that I have it already fitted or trained for.
Just because one doesn't know an abbreviation it doesn't mean that one can't use them.

Go faction on that Tengu.
When a ship cost as much as that, don't cut on your module cost.
Shield boosters and Booster amplifier for starters, Caldari Navy BCU's and a Propulsion mod.
That leaves room for Launcher riggs as wel.
And check up on your Basic skills, if you don't have AWU, you probably miss a lot more vital skills.
