Hey all. Im training my alt for WH space stuff and it needs to be an armor tanking. I was wondering how these 2 t3 cruisers do.
Some things im looking for are hows the dps, hows the remote repping, how well is the internal tank, how much training is involved for each. If I go lente do i have to train both drones AND guns to get the most out of it.
Theres probably info that is also useful that i havent asked but i really wanted to know at least that much.
Also i know the Tengu looks like an EFT monster that just destroys both of these ships but the rest of the corp im getting into is armor so i think thats what im going to stick with.

Legion. 35km scorch = death to webbing sleeper frigs. Proteus is blasters you won't get in range, meh rails, or drones that get eaten alive.
Legion can solo c3s or be buffer or logi fit for higher class holes. |

hands down legion is the best for T3 armor wormhole the legion is best in gangs or fleets especially with a good fleet booster (resistance, armor repair rate, armor repair cap use) but the important thing is [caps]STANDARD CRYSTALS DONT RUN OUT![/caps] that being said everyone else has to reload when their clip empties and get more ammo from a place outside or manufacture it inside the wormhole. that and you can spider-tank like a mother****er Star Light Star bright, The first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, Have the wish I wish tonight. Assuming you're talking Sleeper-bashing, all the above guys are right, go Legion.
However.. you will get a LOT of PvP in w-space, and for that you'll not find a better, nastier, more fun setup to fly than a covops Proteus with 200k+ ehp and around 600dps. The Proteus is the God of buffer armour tanks but its need to be in-your-face all the time making it useless for Sleeper bashing.
But creeping up on a pimped Tengu in the next door C2, threading through Sleeper wrecks, getting to 10km on target, decloaking and laughing manically as he tries to hit you with scourge when you have a 98.2% kin resist and about 750k ehp ... *Sigh* God I miss that
Oh - and against Sleepers leave your drones in k-space. They are a complete fail, unless you want to drone-tank with cheap t1 mediums.

Not bashing ur post or w/e, but plse show me a 600 dps cloaky proteus with 200k+ EHP. EHP might be possible with slaves + booster or w/e, but Im not seeing ANY way of getting that kind of dps without overloading/absurd (officer) pimping.

He's overloading with 3 fed magstabs and the 2 +5% turret implants and 5 hobgoblins. With my crap thermo skills I can burn for 2 minutes in a T3, which is an eternity when when a blaster boat is pounding on you.
it's one of the saving graces of the proteus. In the grander scheme of things 600 dps ain't much. 600 dps that appears out of nowhere and has the EHP of 2 battleships, however, makes it the undisputed king of the WH tengu gank.
long live the king ^_^

600dps on the tengu's higher resists, I'm not sure you'll be able to break his tanką

Alot of tengu's in c1's and c2's farming fit more for EM and explo damage and active tanks to compensate for the sleepers. Means they're using the amplification node sub and are on the very edge of cap stability. My corpmate that used a proteus typically dropped a plate size to 800mm and fit a med neut if he found a tengu to gank. I imagine 2 cycles of neuting and the hardeners and booster would shut down and it would crumple like a wet paper bag.
And as a tengu pilot I was definately scared of proteus ganks when my corp was in WHs. Blasters are usually laughable in PvP, if you can see them coming. If not, well...

Depends on what you are looking at doing. For PVE (Sleeper Sites) dont use proteus as the sleepers will eat your drones, and you will waste a lot of time running around to get in blaster range.
but if youre looking at cruising around in wormholes to gank the people inside, proteus would be better than legion. This signature space for rent |

Would you mind posting the fit please?
I'm very interested in this but the best cloaky Tengu bashing effort I can come up with is this:
Quote: [Proteus, Possible Tengu Pain?] 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Federation Navy Magnetic Field Stabilizer Federation Navy Magnetic Field Stabilizer Federation Navy Magnetic Field Stabilizer Federation Navy Magnetic Field Stabilizer Corelum A-Type Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Damage Control II
True Sansha Warp Scrambler True Sansha Stasis Webifier Republic Fleet 10MN MicroWarpdrive
Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Medium Energy Neutralizer II Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Medium Anti-Explosive Pump II Medium Trimark Armor Pump II Medium Trimark Armor Pump II
Proteus Defensive - Augmented Plating Proteus Electronics - Friction Extension Processor Proteus Propulsion - Localized Injectors Proteus Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration Proteus Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Hobgoblin II x5
According to EFT it does 601 dps with the two damage implants and overheating the guns and gives 178k ehp against the standard Caldari damage profile of about 50/50 Kin/Therm.

Back when I was in CCRES, the proteus was considered the best in our fleets because with our warp ins spawns landed right ontop of us, and they had the highest dps + webs to hold them in place. tank wise... we normally had 3+ guardians with us.

You do know that player with a tengu in a WH does know there are other missiles other then just kinetic and thermal...
Plus -> there are passive tengu fits which can easily have passive 150k EHP towards your fit as well as 350 dps tank. While you have only 70k-ish EHP towards full explosive. Plus let one rat target you - you will burn as hell in there...
Ofc there is an element of suprise, plus if things dont go as planned you should be able to escape easily (unless some rat scrams you which would be a bummer)
I.

Yeah, I had thought of these things but I was just trying to work out what the cloaky fit people were talking about was.
I never know where these ehp figures people quote come from. Are they all based on taking 25% of each damage type?
In any case, I'll not be trying to gank Tengus on my own for quite some time I was just after a bit more info. :)

Playing Gallente i agree with you, either in pvp or pve, blasters are just laughable and i wonder if somme day CCP-dev's will open they'r eyes and say "ho ****, we got a bug out there those large blasters have 7Km Op Range, it's too mutch let's put them at 1.5km"
So insted of making sell orders of 2months cheaper than meta4 125mm for those ridiculous blasters i decide my self finaly to reprocess meta4.
Meds 250mm T2 have very good dps/tracking/range and i wouldn't advise anyone to train hybrid blasters or mabe sommeone i realy hate.

Correction: Pilgrim is the WH ganking Tengu busting King. Neuts = dead Tengu.
Proteus is just meh to me. Both Legion and Tengu have better proper PvP fits imo.
100mn AB HAM brick Legion and the 100mn AB HLM active Tengu are both superior PvP fits.
