So i heard lastnight on the twitter feed from some peoples on sisi that it had been said that the tornado was going to be the next alliance toruny prize. And not a fully availible ship for every one. is it true?

Incoming rage from everyone (except PL) if this is the case.

If they do this it is a waste of a perfectly good design and an FU to players. Getting people excited over a ship that few will ever be able to see or fly would be an insult.

If this is true I'm going to have to rage quit and post as many hate threads on the EVE forums as I can before I get banned.

So what if they do? There's plenty of ships to fly already, and the only thing different about this one is going to be what it looks like. I mean, what will they give it? A minmatar ship, so a bonus to speed per level of BS, bonus to AC damage/rate of fire per level of BS, bonus to webifier per level of BS, or perhaps bonus to electronic warfare, like the Scorpion had maybe. There are other ships in the game that have these bonuses, so it won't be anything new.
Just a new shape that floats in space.

I don't believe this for a second.
The alliance prizes have almost always been simple re-skins of existing models. The skins are usually just recolours.
The Tornado will require a great deal of effort to build and texture. It will be a new, fully realised ship. CCP will find a way to get it out there in some way.

Sometimes that's all that's needed and could someone get a link in here to the tweet.

So unless CCP is going against the contest it won't be a one off or NPC bad guy, which means IMO we are getting added Battleships in some form or another when it is added to game, unless they only allow Minmatar to gain an extra BS for some reason which I think is unlikely.
In this case it still needs to be a BPO/BPC players can manufacture from, either awarded through LP, other methods or sold as a BPO in stations.

This TBH.. Will be pretty lame if they give it away as a tourney prize, that no one will ever see, other than a few lucky people that will just station spin them.

you mean like the Opus luxury yacht?
This rumor sounds quite plausible imo - if CCP doesn't release the Tornado in an extremely limited number only they would have to design 3 other ships filling the same role for the other races.
Releasing only very few of these ships gives them more freedom in terms of making it "fun" and (im)balancing it, as well.

Get excited all you want. It might never happen for all we know, because CCP said back with the release of the new scorpion model that they would be doing alot of existing ships. In the next month the new expansion will get released and we haven't heard a word about models except for this contest it but will get new 3D body avatars! I turned the 2D avatars off outside small fleets so I will probably not even notice this new but useless feature (though the artwork is incredible! I just don't see it of being useful in EVE outside Jita 4-4 which will lag like crazy . But that world of darkness or what ever CCP is working on will probably abuse to the fullest!)

I'd rage if it was limited issue, unless it was 'everyone gets one BPC', and even then that's still unsatisfying on the long term.
Ships that'll go only to collectors to station spin are not good additions. They can't even be that much fun for the collectors.
"But the other races..!" They can hold other design contests for other races, or pick from what they have, or just have their own art team work something out. It's not some impossible feat.
Now, as a tech2/tech3 (thus expensive, but open market) ship, that's less exciting than a new battleship, but still interesting.
On par with pirate faction BS? Sure thing. Tech1 is of course the most ideal to see regular use, but I don't think anyone would QQ about getting new expensive ships...
So long as they're expensive but actually possible to build. Even if you had the billions of isk to buy a limited issue ship, you couldn't fly it; people would swarm from miles around for a chance to suicide gank one.
"If I can't ever have one, I can have the killmail to one." Etc. Of course, no, you can't. Because they won't even be undocked for just that reason.
tl;dr: If they add new ships, ffs make it something people can obtain. A mothership is more obtainable than a limited issue ship. Just sayin. |

Making it just a tourny prize would seem like a laughably stupid and improbable insult to players.
But then when you think about how everything else in contest was an insult to players and it makes sense.
Wherever you went - Here you are.

But, but, Twitter!
No idea how such a stupid thing became a reliable source. Even the repeated fake celebrity deaths hasn't shaken people out of it.

uh as a matter of fact there is no minmatar (or regular t1) bs that has a webifier bonus.

No there isn't, but you missed the point. Other ships in the game all have these bonuses, so everybody can experience them no matter what race they are thanks to cross-training. So, unless CCP releases a totally brand new bonus per level of ship ability, then the only thing people will be missing out on is a new shape floating in space, and there's already tons of shapes you can have floating in space so it's no big deal.

Personally, I think it'd be nice to have another T1 minmatar BS, same deal as the rest perhaps with a price around 80-100m rather than another stupid 600m+ BS that people dont often fly.
If other races have to wait for their additional T1 BS then tough, who cares? The 'namby pamby all races must have the same number of ships' creates a lot of poor ships and imbalances across tiers in the end. Do away with that and just get the ship in game for us to use.

How dare you, how then could we express rage and anger when a ship rises to the top of EVE and demands we nerf it in order to make ourselves feel better? How I ask YOU?
PS: Nevermind pure hatred and jealousy over someone training things we didn't should cover us in the never ending game of "let's nerf that".
