Edited by: Surgicalshot on 02/11/2010 22:54:02 Hello,
Im looking for a eve career. I do missions now/rat but i dont consider this a real career and was hoping someone could guide me in the right direction. Ive been playing this game for a little under 2 months now, I have the skills to get into lvl 4 missions and absolutly steamroll lvl 3's. I can also fly a stealth bomber/ probe ship. I have very basic indy skills ( can use tech 2 mining laser's though )
I would prefer something i can do in high/low sec ( not 0.0 ) and i dont need to be in a corp to do it. I dont want to do missions or mining or market trading. It must make BILLIONS ( im tired of millions ive already made 700m off lvl3/ratting) im not sure which to pick and which ill most enjoy/make isk
thanks

Perhaps you could try exploration.
There are:
Rader Sites: 20-60 mil Mag Sites: 2-10 mil Ladar Sites: can contain NPC Drug Ops. DED Plexs: Faction Loot / Overseer's Effects Unknown Plexs: Faction Loot / Escalations
Lots to do in High and Lo.

Best recommendation yet.
Move to a highsec pocket in lowsec, near nullsec. These places tend to have very small populations and plenty of sites you can explore. Plus you can slip into nullsec every now and again to poke around their more lucrative complexes and the like.
Exploration can be fun but it's hell in normal highsec. Hundreds flying around looking for each and every spot all the time? You won't get much done but moving to a more isolated and dangerous area...

I beg to differ on one point.
There are lots who do this but they stick to the high end absolute best plex regions near trade hubs. there is plenty of back water Highsec that is untouched by most people.
I might try that High Sec Island trick though, thanks!

A lot depends on your time-zone. Those that get in early can gut the systems. They repop across the day but slowly and randomly so, at certain hours, many/most highsec systems are mostly gutted. That's not much fun probing out 10 systems and finding 2 spots across them.
I came across the island trick by bumping into a class 7 wormhole (highsec - highsec with no W-space involved -- in effect, a gate). 36 jumps away into a pocket and when I probed the system, about 20 different sites showed on an initial probe.
I was dumbfounded at the huge amount of sites but it was a bit different when I ran a little complex -- I was used to Serpentis, yet ended up running against Bloods... Wee bit different but amazing fun to find so many complexes and other sites in a system.

That is probably because the origional Plexes have not been run and don't despawn. While High Sec ones that get run every half hour repawn randomly. That means that more is added and nothing subtracted, while each one that is added subtracts from the rest of the region.
So by the end of the day the system should be brimming with nice loots...
You really stumbled on to something, I know a little pocket, I think I will pay it a visit.

There are lots of paths and frankly they aren't always clear cut. Many skills transfer across to other activities.
This official guide gives you an idea of what is available.
Mission running skills can generally transfer over to pvp, although you will want to read up on how to do that and are probably lacking in areas like navigation, drone support skills, ewar etc...
trade and industry skills go well together.
mining is very much a niche and isn't advisable as a profitable path. its either a means to an end or performed as a social activity.
Exploration for sites and plexes works well with your mission running interests to keep pve fresh although you ideally want an alt to do the probing for you. cov ops stuff can also lead to areas like scouting and spying.
You could decide you want to mix running a pos chain with some form of industry or PI or could park up and do some daytrading.
solo pvp can be rewarding if you like a challenge but it can be frustrating working against the odds, its a very personal choice.
Finding a corp with similar goals to your own is always the best option as it opens up opportunities to you which you would find impossible alone.
Overall, learn how the game works as a whole and find your niche.
