Edited by: Tzenkethi on 03/11/2010 08:23:58 Quick and simple question , for those that have actually soloed c3 sites in a Tengu for quite some time , i would appreciate honest answers.
I have been soloing c3 sites in a Drake for a long time , now i am in the position to switch to Tengu.
I observed that most loadouts in Battleclinic and other web links had tanks of 700-1000+ !! for soloing a c3 site.
This puzzled me as i have been soloing with a Drake that has a tank of 550 and a sig radius of 500+ , 2.5 times bigger than the Tengu's sig radius.
If i didn't knew better i would make a Tengu fit with even less tank than 550 , but as i said i am puzzled by most Tengu loadouts that to me seem Overtanked.
So what is the case with the minimum Tengu required tank for soloing the hardest c3 site? Thank you all in advance.

You can always just swap in TPs or BCUs as needed if you find yourself overtanked. Going in with caution in a new, expensive ship, is not a bad idea.

The hardest site for a C3 is one of the Mag sites. Theres an easy one and a hard one.
Any T3 will melt under the alpha unless it keeps up traversal, what I like to do is when I get to that wave. I hop into my "Sleeper Diplomat" (aka Zephyr) and get in nice and close to their spawn point and create a bookmark. That way I can warp in and be under their tracking.
Otherwise for most anomalys it can get a little scary watching your shield spike so much but 700ish tank is fine on a Tengu, the reason they have such high tanks is due to alpha, you won't always have ideal traversal inbetween waves. |

I have flown every C3 site, combat, radar, and mag in a solo Tengu. You can count on about 400DPS per Sleeper Battleship. A passive tank Tengu will get all of your combat sites but not your harder radar or mags. Those have 3 BS and you would need at least a 1200 DPS tank. The problem with those is that you will have 2 scrams on the last wave with the 3 Battle Ships. I've seen that wave take out several non T3 buddies if mine.
If you have the isk a tengu can be fitted to handle all C3's. I ran a passive tank tengu (800DPS Tank) until I could afford my active fit.
I wouldn't worry about sig raidus or speed too much. When the frigs spawn, you will have so many webs on you that you might as well as plan on sitting in one spot for a while.
I tank at 1750 DPS and none of sites are that bad. The harder mag site, will get me down to 80% shields between volleys but that's livable. For the rest of the sites it is overkill. I've since moved up to C5's with the fleet and the tank is definitely put to the test in there.
