Hello All,
I am looking for a stronger cruiser/BC hull, and considering the command ships, such as the Nighthawk or Damnation.
How do these stack up to the Tengu/Legion? I know it depends largely on how you fit them, but can the Tengu beat the Nighthawk in tank and dps if you don't worry about the warfare links?

Astarte, treat it as it is, a beefed up brutix. Full rack of Neutrons, same EHP and the reps are a bonus. Cheaper than a T3. |

Edited by: Mutant Caldari on 03/11/2010 15:10:36 ...Why must you ask such vague questions? What will it be used for? Why are you putting warfare links on a NH? Why are you comparing a NH to a Damnation when they aren't even the same types of CS?

The Proteus > The Astarte by far, lol. Yeah I am a pirate. What are you gonna do about it? Killboard link is not allowed to be used in a signature.Applebabe

Thanks for the replies, sorry for being vague
What I mean to ask is:
Stat wise, do T3 beat the command ships for pvp? I know they get equivalent dps, and equivalent tanks, but do they do them with the same configuration, or do you choose dps over tank.
I hope that is clearer,
Again thanks Apollo =============================== || Don't let the Trolls keep you from your goals. || =============================== |

tank yes, dps no
I would choose dps with good tank... not tank with good dps, if you know what I mean.

Tengu > Nighthawk Proteus > Astarte Sleipnir > Loki Don't forget that their "equal" tanks aren't so equal due to sig radius. The T3's actually tank more than the Command Ships. Plus a Proteus has close to double the EHP as an Astarte and I know the Tengu > NH but I am not sure on the exact numbers. I'll let someone who has used a Tengu properly speak to that effect. Any single ship's effectiveness is reduced as the size of the opposing fleets grow. (Both will melt when primaried)
Therefore the difference between CS and T3 reduces also as you scale up the numbers.
So the best comparison is the smallest gang conflicts and 1v1s.
If your CS has 1/2 the EHP of the T3 but can rep more than 1/2 the enemy's incoming dps, you have been reading this too long and not paying attention to dscan and I've got you fully tackled and would like you to say hello to my little friend.
Yes the Proteus is like 3/5 the sig and 1/3 faster than the Astarte |

Actually the NH can do things the tengu can't plus the explosion velocity bonus is extreemly useful, having a flight of light combat drones can be very great too. I'm a big fan of the Fon Revedhort's PvP nighthawk for what it does it's way better than a tengu.

Unless you are using all 3 ganglinks, its better to just go with the T3.

Tengu and Legion are superior in PvP with 100mn AB fits, giving them GTFO capability so you can actually save your expensive ass ship and great speed to dictate range with scram immunity.

With a pure gank fit the Astarte can do considerably more DPS than the proteus, something worth bearing in mind.
So it's what you're after in a ship that will be the deciding factor on whether to go with CS or Strat Cruiser, they certainly aren't comparable but both have their strengths.
Can you help me further here, I have read several time that CS or T3 can do things the others can't and I don't know what you are referring to here, could you elucidate?

They have their uses, they have their nichTs, they have their disadvantages. Bring what suits gang or presumed enemies.
Please correct if Im wrong; But neither is the ultimate ship to fly; And as such you should think before undocking.
Then again Im stuck with Legion so go figure I dont know anything. |

I think my question was different from which sexual position is best.
The designed role of the command ship is akin to a fleet booster, that can take some damage and survive. It has also been used as a solo pvp ship quite a bit. So I wanted to know if it was as effective as the T3, since I have little experience with them.

The T3 is a lot more survivable unless it gets put under neutralizers. It also gives better bonuses for the one command link you can fit (you can lolfit more obviousl), but it will hardly beat a Claymore/Vulture/Damnation. All these can fit 3 command links without any issues. They usually have more tank than the T3s, but T3s in turn are smaller/more agile.
T3 command ships may have their uses in various fleet types, but generally the CS is a better choice. Oh and CS only come up to 1/3rd of the price of a T3.
