I made a new account not too long ago and got a mail, specifically for that new account, going like "do you want to buy isk? just follow these easy steps, and buy a plex to sell it ingame".
I mean, I understand that you want to make some cash but seriously, you're starting to sound like a street dealer, and it's off-putting.

Are you sure that this is from CCP?
It sounds suspiciously like a phising e-mail, or something similar...

CCP does not send out very many advertisements. The only advertisements I have ever seen come from EVE Online are: The newsletter Power of 2
Anything asking you to buy ISK is probably from someone wanting to hack your account. ----------

I'd be suspicious. I've got 6 accounts running and haven't received an email looking like that. I also don't recall any emails from EVE that ever used a phrase like "outfitted the armies of madmen".
But perhaps these are aimed at newer players ? Or maybe at players that have never bought PLEX directly from EVE ? (In which case 4 of my accounts would have probably received similar emails).

I never had an email from CCP except confirmations about payment. That what you are saying sounds like fishing.

We already have microtransactions. First the legal trade of GTCs. Only a few complained but most thought it was a good thing. Than came the PLEX, still not many complained, because they just made the trade with gametime easier, right?
Plex are such a stroke of a genius by CCP. They employ you to earn virtual money that they sell for real live currency. They do exactly the same with you as the chinese farmers do with their sweat shop staff. Actually Eve is a free to play game since quite a while. CCP just did camouflage this fact. Microtansactions are already there. By a few Plex and you can buy almost everything in game that some other poor guy worked for. I dont like microtransactions and i dont like plex. I makes me sad to see where this game is going with this.

I got an email from my bank the other day that look like it was really from my bank. It said they were doing some work to make sure accounts were secure and wanted to to sign in and verify my password... yea, right.
I'd be interested in the IP that it actually came from, and the address those links pointed to, not just a screen shot. My ISK is on it being a fake, but it'd be nice to get CCP in here to c/d.

CCP confirmation would be nice because this is akin to us trying to sell a Navy Issue Moa to a 2 week old noob.
Though if it is real they might be able to afford it, stealth scammer buff!

Again, I KNOW the difference between fake and real, this is real. Also, for the people who didn't read it properly, it only got sent to the account I made a couple of weeks ago, NOT to my normal accounts (even though they're on the same email address).
I also like how CCP is persistently stupid by specifying my account name in the mail subject.

the adding your account name is because they now send mails out when your getting close to the end of your sub to let you know
It makes it alot easier for you to put plex onto the right account if they tell you the account that is about to expire, it is also an added layer tomaking phishing mails easier to detect as they have to not only have your email address but also the name of the account that is linked to that address

Because using a character name from that account (highest SP one for instance) wouldn't work at all. This way if your mail is being hacked all they have to search for is "eve-online" in mail subjects and they'll have your account name. There is NO excuse to send account info like that in normal advertising spam mails. And before anyone goes "olol don't get hacked then", you should watch that interview ShatteredCrystal had with the RMT guy.
To the rest or the idiot "lulz fake" replies, either get more original at trolling or uhm, dunno, just READ the thread :)

Well, you hadn't really offered much in the way of proving that it's real until you mentioned that your account name was included, and even then it's more of an indication than concrete proofà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |
