I have 6 planets to use. I am in an area with 3 plasma planets, plenty of barren ones. I want to make as much robotics per hour as possible.
I was thinking that on each plasma planet, and 1 barren, I would extract a basic ingredent and process it to the stage too (like turn base metals into reactive metals or whatever the item is).
I could then use 1 planet to combine all the P2 into the P3s of Mechanical parts and the other, then the 6th planet to combine the P3s into robotics. Would this be the best option?

With 6 planets i would do 1 for chiral structure, one for each of the metals needed. The other two planets i would make them similar, only factory planets making mech part, consumer electronics and robotics all on one.

I believe this is in agreement with Brian...
I would suggest 4 planets extracting 1 P0 each and processing it to P1. Then 2 planets (setup identical to each other) that build both of the P2 parts and combine them into the P3. This setup will help reduce the taxes of moving items from planet to planet, while maximizing your extraction rates.
(Ok, one could argue that processing to P1 on the extraction planet is preventing you from "maximizing" extraction. But IMHO transporting P0 is a waste of time, effort, and isk)

Keep in mind- in order to support 1 factory producing robotics every hour, you need 2 fully-supplied basic industrial facilities producing P1s for EACH input.
An advanced command center (lvl 4 skills) can fairly comfortably fit 4 separate chains producing a P3- that means 8 BIFs for each good.
Since an adv. CC can fit at most 20 extractors/BIFs + 1 launchpad, you would be able to fit at MOST 12 extractors to supply those BIFs... which works out to needing a ratio of no more than 1.5 extractors to 1 BIF. I don't have nearly as much experience with extracting as I do with factory planets, but based on my gut-math from what I recall that means you would probably need a pretty decent 0.0 planet running 5 hour cycles to manage it. *** Wish list for PI:
*One-click input routing *Copy product, inputs & outputs in factories *Launchpad upgrades: twice the space, twice the cost, half the hassle! |
