Yes it is. AFAIK there are only two ways to make items unscanable: a) use a container and create a courier contract on that container b) use the corporate hangar of an Orca or cap ship

First, an assembled giant secure container can not go into a freighter, only an unassembled one. But, if an assembled can could go in, then yes, they could scan it.

Incorrect. They are commonly placed inside cargo holds and used as a way to increase storage. (3900m3 capacity, 3000m3 volume) You simply don't get the password capability of the container unless it's anchored in space.
UNLESS... there is some rule about not being able to place them inside a freighter specifically.

What about the same question, but with an industrial? If I put Giant secure containers in my Badger2, can they be scanned?

as per response to the OP only courier contracted containers to your alt can be unscanned (exc the orca corp hanger)

Courier packages are also allowed. These can contain GSCs filled with other items, but it's a lot of work to fill up a freighter that way. --- 34.4:1 mineral compression |

Container contents: scanable. Courier contract package contents: scanable Container contents in a courier contract package (a.k.a. "double wrapping"): NOT scanable

Just as a followup, using the package within a courier trick may still get you suicide ganked because the assumption is generally that anyone that went to that much trouble is transporting something tasty.

And just as likely to be someone hoping a ganker is a greedy tool ganking empty boxes.

I haul up to about 2 billion in a Charon, warping to zero. I wouldn't AFK with more than 1 billion though.
If it is 40,000 m3 or less (like modules or BPO), then the Orca's corporate hangar is best. I have no concerns AFK auto-pilot with more than 2 billion in this case.
