Once a name is locked in to a character, the only way to clear it is to biomass (delete) the character and start over with a new character.
Luckily, you have three character slots available per account, so you end up losing nothing but the training time on your character (in your case, it looks like you only lose about ten days). You can start a new character, get it set up, and then pass the old character's belongings over, either through a contract or by asking a trusted intermediary to hold stuff for the new character. You can also pass your old character's ISK over to the new character directly.
Once that's all set, at the character-select screen after the login screen (before you jump to your station), start the biomass procedure for the old character. There's a ten-hour wait, to prevent people from wiping out five-year-old characters with millions of skill points and billions of ISK in a single moment of (for example) drunken rage or insanity. |

Honestly. It's handy you have a cool name. In the EVE universe though, ten days play time isn't much at all. |

Actually, contrary to most posts here they will likely change it for you if it matches whats on the credit card or something. Actual real reasons like that do occasionally get CCP to bend the rules. As long as you just started that is. The Apostle : I want a kangeroo Captain Kirk : Silly Austrians Sarmatiko : Let me guess: you're from US? Captain Kirk : Yeah Riverside IA - why? |

Open an in-game petition and explain your case to CCP. They are often sympathetic to brand new players with a legitimate reason for wanting a name change. The sooner the better, however; the longer you've had your name, the less likely they are to change it. Core Skills - train em up train em up! |

Petition away, it wont make a difference.
Your name is your identity in EVE. If people set you blue, then you change your name, they are going to wonder who the hell this guy in local is that is blue...
Also, Corps could have your name blacklisted for recruitment.
There are a host of reasons why names can not and should not ever be changed in eve.
I suffer from the same thing. I dislike my name. When I made this toon back in 2007 I ran through the character creator so fast that I just plugged in an old console gaming tag as my name, and then hit "random" on the portrait.... It was a mistake I had to live with up until Incarna was released. I was finally able to change my portrait, but the name... it sticks...

You should petition it. GM might have pity for a young account. |

If your character is only a couple days old shift him to be your alt and make your main character. I did that since my first trial character (who I trained for and played for a whole month) was rushed through the setup process. Take your time with your new main, especially if you plan on keeping him for years to come. Fine tune the design and take your time with the character creator, come up with a name you can really appreciate and carefully map out a skill plan now that you have a basic grasp on what various skill do.
Think of this as an opportunity, especially if you plan on staying around. A week or two will not make a big difference in the big picture. |

And this is why they'll only do this sometimes, and only for new players. (I am speaking from experience.) Again, open a petition; the sooner the better. Core Skills - train em up train em up! |

Damn you are blessed with a RL name like that. Rolls off the tongue beautifully. Understand you want to separate RL from online of course (especially since the griefing nature of this game). Biomass this one and make a new is your only option I am afraid.

In EVE, it doesn't matter if it's your real name or not. In most cases, people won't even care what your real name is, as long as they know what to call you in-game. New to EVE? Want to learn? The Crimson Cartel will train you in the fields of your choice. Mainly active in EU afternoons and evenings. Contact me for more info. |
