EVE is the only MMO I play now but I dont like the way the game is heading. The last so called expansions were created for an x box game. I think the bean counters are deciding what is best for EVE not the designers of the game or EVE players.

Meh, WoW and EVE really are the best two examples imo, no others really grabbed me.

Edited by: Doug Garvin on 11/11/2010 08:32:26 Ive played online before the Internet was even invented. We called them bulletin boards. I beta tested or played SWG, WoW, StarTrek, Fallen Earth, A tale in the Desert, Allods Online, DarkSpace, CrimeCraft, EverQuest,POTBS and many more that I dont even remember. EVE is still the best for now but I dont want it to start changing because of bean counters.

I've played Everquest, Anarchy Online, Dark Ages of Camelot, Star Wars Galaxies, Everquest 2, City of Heroes, World of Warcraft, and now Eve.
From a personal standpoint, Everquest was my favorite but probably only because it was my first mmorpg. From a totally objective standpoint, I would probably say World of Warcraft is the most complete and best mmo out there right now. It has something for everyone and for every type of player... probably a good reason why it has 12 million players.

Cool story bro, now i suggest you go back and read about EvE and find out that you have no idea of the scope of a project ccp is taking on. And it was not just for an xbox game CCP long stated they wanted a 100% player driven economy with all items made by players and players always wanted some sort of planetary interaction since 06, granted its not what we imagined but it's only a start.

1. Final Fantasy
My first MMO and one of my favorite overall titles in RPG's is final fantasy. Personally I enjoy the fact that the devs put a lot of the game out of reach for most people unless they work as a team. (save for very very skilled individuals who solo a lot of the end game content). I always find myself going back a few months out of the year to mess around with my old Taru Red Mage, but its kind of gotten stagnant for a long time. The recent level cap increase has breathed some life into it but it is too little to late IMO. Unless of course you have never played it before, in which case Id imagine it would be great, but since ive climbed all the mountains it has lost its magic.
2. EVE
Was my third MMO and I like it very much because it is an escape from the fantasy lands of FFXI and WOW. It seems more realistic and plausible in a futuristic sort of way. To me when I first started playing it kind of felt like the untold story from one of my most favorite games ever, Starcraft. Humanity lost and stuck in far reaches of space, working together and waring with one another, only with out the random alien encounters and constant zerg attacks . The learning curve captivated me, It was very steep, but I figured if something is this hard to start it has to be worth it. With so many possibilities from PVE, to Mining, to Marketing, to PVP, Piracy, extortion, spying, waring. It has so many variables you can not experience in one sitting. That isn't even getting started on the plethora of potential ships to fly, fittings, skills etc that would take years upon years to fully learn and utilize. It is by far the most complex and cool MMO ive played and with its various degrees of difficulty and action it is hard to get bored and walk away.
3. WoW
Played this game for about 6 months, got to level 80, cleared ICC on heroic several times, had the best loot a moonkin could put on his back, at the same time competed in 2v2 PVP as a Resto druid/War mix, Got to 2460 had nearly the best loot a pvp resto could use. Looked around for a new challenge, found none /uninstall.
Dishonrable mention FF14
It is ****, did the Cbeta, it was ****, did the Obeta, they didn't fix the **** that was ****. I refuse to play the pay to play beta, which is also filled with the same **** that was in the Cbeta. Save your money avoid this game until at least march when they have it cleaned up for ps3 release.

I have played WoW and EVE and WoW got boring once I had explored all the land. EVE stays interesting since I have not experienced all the content. That being said I have only been paying for EVE since late 07' so there is no way that I could have exhausted all the content like many vets may have.

Perpetuum, if it succeeds to last once it goes live, will have a skill training system that will rival or surpass EVE's. Everyone gains their 'skill points' at the same rate and you can distribute them in any fashion you want but the attribute scores determine how many 'skill points' are needed for each specific skill.

Fallen Earth is a decent MMO. Typical post apocalyptic genre. Though not as rich in texture as the Fallout series, its a decent mmo with lots of class options and modes of travel -> horses, bikes, mad max like cars.

Yet you post a link in General Discussion about a poll that is mostly, not EVE. Come up with a better reason if you insist on burying topics you don't want to see.

It's only as demanding time wise as you let it to be, took me a long time to work that one out. I also play a lot of the time stonned, so being slow helps quite a bit.
Played Earth and Beyond for a month, found EVE a while later mid 04 and have played since. I only lasted 10 days on the WoW trial vOv

Eve would be a f**kin awesome game if all the elitist annoying jerks suddenly lost internet capability for like 7 years and the rest of us could just play the f**kin game. BRO

Confirming that Thread Necro Projector II is working but could use some editing in the code for response generation. The response it generated in its first post severely lacked content.

Edited by: Selinate on 15/12/2010 16:35:49 Eve is a pretty good MMO, considering the direction that they're moving in (A very complete world with a lot to do). TBH, I'll be excited to see what new MMO's in the future bring, with getting rid of the PRESS BUTTON 4 SKILL mentality and all. (Personally, I don't know what took them so effing long, Planetside was a great MMOFPS and didn't need to have targets and all that rpg stuff like RNG... but I'm not a game designer).
EDIT: Also, if you want a truly bad MMORPG, go play Aion. The game just all-around sucks. The support sucks, the players & community (mostly) suck, the gameplay itself is just a slower-paced WoW, the completely luck-dependent mechanics absolutely horribly suck, the flight timer sucks, the PvP (as if it actually has something that can be called PvP) sucks, the drop rates for items is AWFUL, everything just sucks about that game. Oh, except for the character models. The character models are ok. But then again, the graphics in that game are mediocre at best (despite what the players claim, it's not true! The graphics are on the same level as WoW!), and so I'll just loop that in with the rest of the sucking because they deserve it.
