So I cancelled this account last month and everything seemed fine. That is until CCP still charged me for a subscription fee. Apparently I am not the only one. I read other forums that deal with Eve Online and there is several more people reporting the same problem. If you cancelled an account in the last couple months, i suggest you check your bank account to see if they are still charging you.
I guess Incursion came early, just not the one in the dev blogs.

I did file a petition. What I want to know is there a problem? On a large scale the community should know about? I just don't want to see another Warhammer Incident if you know what i mean...

How to avoid getting reamed by billing mistakes. Put all your money into the savings account and only transfer out what you need to your checking account as you go. That way if someone tries to filch your hard earned money they gets none.

Fail responce.
Opt out of your banks "overdraft protection" racket scheme and never suffer a penalty again. That way if you have $9.99 in your checking account and you try to charge something for $10 it will be declined.

Because banks in other countries, act the same way and have the same rules as they do in the USA.... amirite.

op never stated what country he was from and most banking systems outside of the usa run on roughly the same ruleset when it comes to overdraft penaltys etc etc so all he has to do to make sure is to ask the next time he makes a run to the bank.

Simple fix, Notify your bank or credit card company that CCP isn't authorized to remove money from your account until further notice. Problem solved

I suggest the PayPal option since it's not a recurring subscription fee in that case (unlike a certain MMO that's got several million subscribers to its name). I only pay once a month, though there are options to pay multimonthly if you prefer. :)

As of August 15th 2010 every checking account in the US went to "OPT OUT" status on its own. If you want the coverage you have to Opt IN now.

If you try to stop payment either through a banck or a credit card CCP will respond by not cancemling your suscription but by never allowing you to access your account again.
Only go that route if youre sure you will never play again.
Its not fair - its CCP.

Really? I figured CCP would only do something like that if you tried to do a charge back against them - which would cause them to lose money and damage their credit rating. ----------

Overdraft protection is opt-in by law now in the United States.
Also, you can usually just call them and get the charges cancelled if you have it, if you get to it in a day or two it usually just goes away.

Alternately, switch to paying using a Debit card, and don't leave enough money in that account to cover the EVE subscription :)
Switching payment method to PLEX/GTC doesn't help. If you've ever paid by credit card, they'll fall back to that payment method.

I don't have overdraft protection on my account, and my Canadian Bank charges me $42.50 if there's not enough money in the account to cover a payment/cheque. Yes, even if it's an online automatic withdrawal. Canadian banks suck for fees.
The only way to prevent this is to go completely off the grid - pay for your EVE account with cash that you give to a shady arms dealer in the smoky back room of a cafe in the disreputable part of town. He'll know what to do with it... ---------------------------------------------- I don't have an alt, but there's a main that would be upset if he heard me say that... |

Let me get this right?
1. You cancelled your sub
2. CCP still takes cash form your account
That is actual theft.
I didn't think such a company would divulge in such matters.

It's also possible that someone has accessed (hacked) your account info and used your bank info to pay for a new subscription.
Just had to deal with the same thing, but ironically for the same amount as the "special" that was running this month that I had not signed up for. I contacted CCP and they refunded the erroneous payment.

No it is not regarded as "theft" in the legal system. The bank or credit card simply reverses the transaction if you complain.
And CCP bans your account.

Or you contact CCP and let them sort it out and your account doesn't get banned. It's not rocket science here folks. I do a lot of shopping online and I've had a couple instanced where a merchant double billed my account or billed too much. I have never (thus far) had to resort to calling my bank to deal with the issue. --Vel

Why do CCP ban the account?
If money wrongfully goes missing from your account without authorisation that is theft, right?

No, it's a mistake. It happens all the time with utility companies, I'm sure you will experience this at some point. And CCP don't "ban" you, they reverse the subscription. In effect you didn't pay so you don't get access for free.

My last contact from the GM was before the weekend. It is now Tuesday and I have not received any update on anything. I am trying to be as patient as possible.
"Where's the ****ing money Lebowski?"
Seriously, I want my money already. And for those saying that by trusting CCP with my bank account information on a subscription fee, you are saying that CCP is not trustworthy and the player base should go thru another site like PayPal to avoid that.
CCP do you agree with that? Is it safe for the players to have subscriptions tied to you directly from their credit cards and banks? Or should we go with other third parties?
