I have not really read into their history but wanted to get what you as a players feel about Sanshas' importance for attacking high sec and what you think about them in general.
You should really change that statement, you could answer your own questions by reading the chronicles with sanshas in them.

People's ideas for how NPCs should behave nearly always remind me that extremes are for those who have no ideas. The 'more is better' plebs would be served by a function key that multiplied all numbers in the game by ten. WHOA! So much... everything!!!!!
On a relevant note, i was reading region infos on the map and came across an area described as having planets with spookily symmetrical city lights on their night sides. Nice creepy touch there.
Also, i have to take my hat, and my pants, off to those pilots who have worked out the ultimate in annoying others. Hardcore Roleplaying.

They are space zombie drones, used by Sansha Kuvakei.
If you ever watched the show "Firefly", the scary bad-guy Reavers are pretty much Sansha, unabashedly ripped off by Joss Whedon. <--that last part is hyperbole, by the way. You can put away your guns, psychotic Whedon fans.

Firefly is actually a really good representation of what Sansha could be like.

As much as i love Firefly and don't feel like the Reavers are 'ripped off' from EVE as some would say, this guy is correct. the Reavers are pretty much exactly Sansha's Nation.

Actually I think of Sansha and his "zombies" more like the mad doctor and his zombified crew from that old disney movie "The Black Hole".

This at worst. I've always thought of them as regular people who are completely immune to fear of any sort. Highly logical, given to deliberation over everything.. the exact opposite of Firefly's reavers.. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd figure them closest to the Vulcans of Star Trek in general behaviour.
The whole zombie stereotype is just overdone and boring to my taste. It just seems like lazy thinking from a storyline point of view..
