Hello folks. As the title states I am curious as to whether or not it is possible to capture an entire avatar portrait, not just the cropped version. When I use the right click "capture portrait" function it cuts off the top and bottom of my avatar and I want the whole thing! Is there a means of editing the default capture parameters at all? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

As would I.
Also, no you can't, but you'll probably be able to by January when the new character creaters are finished.

You couldn't just press the "Prt Scr"-button, then open MS Paint, go "CTRL"+"V", mark the section of the screen with your avatar on it, go "CTRL"+"C", go to "Philes", click "New", minimise the canvas size to something smaller than the size of your avatar, go "CTRL"+"V" again and then "Save as"... ? Or did I misunderstand something?

Yes, at the login screen when the character you want is selected you hit the same key you use to take ingame screen shots PRINT SCREEN and then you have that page saved which is a larger version of your avatar.

Thanks for the constructive replies to my post. A few of you understood my quandary with the current capture system and gave me some options for a work around. I right clicked "save image as" after I clicked on my portrait in these forums. It is a smaller image but I suppose it's better than nothing. Sadly when I try to screen shot the login page with the Print Screen Key it will only capture my desktop or web browser underneath, not the EVE client. I've highlighted my portrait on the login page, alt-tabbed through current applications and neither would work in allowing a screenshot of the client. This could be a Win7 issue though as I could always capture EVE screen shots with XP and Vista. If I recall correctly you used to be able to purchase prints of your avatar from CCP and that could be why the ingame portrait capture function is somewhat gimped. My reason for wanting the full portrait capture is of course the upcoming expansion and the fact my lovely picture will be no more. I've had this character since 2 days after the North American launch(my employment history is incorrect as it shows Lavondyss being some 2 months younger than she actually is)and I want the best portrait image I can get as a memento of all those years. At any rate thanks again for the replies!

You can access any portrait that shows up ingame directly from the cache located at (in Vista anyway):
Quote: <user>\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility\cache\Pictures\Portraits
There will be a 64x64 image available for chat images, 256 for show info and 740 for the character selection screen. Search for *740.png to find your own character quickly.
Also, you can edit pics in that folder if you want to deface somebody you don't like or something.

When we get the 3d avatars, will CCP actually let people play as topless gallente? Or will they have to wear clothes?
I wonder how much CCP cares about their ESRB rating? |
