No roleplay here.
I always thought that the InterGallactic Summit forums (IGS) was for roleplayers to express their views about events that happened in-game will happen in-game by player action or that were official CCP publicized ôcanonö material.
But it seems now that anyone that writes something anyware about an action done by anything or anyone in EVE in IGS is treated as had really happened and its ôofficialö :
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1416630&sid=998904352
and in detail;
http://www.arcadianewsnetwork.net/?p=402
So if I wrote a peice (nice written and all) saying that Mr. Roden decided to end the problem of Intaki prime sucession by passing a bill saying that the Intaki Assembly is no longer part of the Federation it just happend and Intaki is free at last !
It makes no sence at all.
In the IGS forum you cant for instance use Killmails, a thing that you get in-game that really happened and that had a in-game effect but you can use as true events things that you made up ? Well I think its ok if it is an action you could do with your charater in what should be RL on EVE but only if it would not alter anything major like NPC corps, Goverment bodies or plot twists, that I always thought to be the realm of CCP that they do get ideas from the players is a sign that they do care about our actions but until its ôofficialö material (EVE site, EON and Novels comes to mind) it should be treated as non-existent.
I have read a lot of very good material writen by serveral people in several places that changed my perception of the EVE universe, people that like me think that the universe as shown by CCP ,as is space, has a lot of dark and little stars, people like me that wished for more universe changing things to happen on EVE but on the IGS I always tried to keep with the stars and leave the dark alone because you dont really know what plans if any CCP has for it. I also know that several players have close ties with CCP personnel and that probbably knows more than the average player (or me for instance) about CCPs plans for future of the EVE universe but even then until is not made public it should be trated as non-exitent or at best in the realms of possiblilty not as actions that happened or will happen for sure.
Now I most people here probbably dont care about this at all but I think that its a legitimate concern for the integrity of the IGS roleplay forum as a source of inpiration for the game and vice-versa and not become like someone said truly an ôecho chamberö.

Well, lots of people are going to 'do it wrong', and screw things up.
But what can you do? Whine at them?
CCP can't do anything either, really (nor would they, I'm sure. They probably can't stand us most of the time).

Edited by: Milo Caman on 20/11/2010 11:24:55 Can I just point out that *I* made the call for that article to go live.
Levi is an excellent writer, and the article itself states that the possibility is being considered. It's planet-side politics, not IG events, and is therefore a non-issue.
*If* I got an article submitted that stated XYX had happened in game, but it clearly hadn't, I'd reject it on principal.
ANN is open to subs if you feel like submitting something, go ahead, but bear in mind that I do make sure that stuff is going to fit before I clear it for publishing.
If you bring your eyes to the comment at the end of the article, that's how you should deal with this kind of thing. Not OOC whining that RP isn't going your way.

Indeed, otherwise what would be the point of the IGS? Oh wai-

I didn't know that you could win at RP... is this "Rune"tm for any chance or is this one of those each player is a GM at a time games ?
No I think that CCP left not only Intaki arc but a lot more behind but as usual the ILF trash and associated lackeys can only see their little hole.
As for the "I" decide whats published in my forgottem page: nice work !! Give the man a cigar !

You got an issue?
Here's a tissue.
I always love it when people ***** and moan about how against an activity they are, then they jump back in and start trying to purposefully ruin it.

Hussain, I always thought our disagreements were IC, but it seems you have an OOC beef with the ILF as well.
That's not roleplaying.
Frankly, I respect you less, now.

From what I can tell, it's pretty minor -- one politician in a minority party of a planetary assembly participating in a subcommittee... this seems to me like making mountains out of molehills, and I don't mean the tutorial mission. ---
