If You Undock and log just when the screen goes black, then re-log back into the game so you appear back on the undock at 0. this seems unpetitionable even with screen shots and frap so its good?

waste of time, when u undock if you ctrl space you will stop and be able to dock before the enemy can target or somthing like that

Sure it's an exploit as long as the power company, ISP, and anything else that could cause a random disconnect can guarantee that you won't lose your connection to the server while undocking
TLDR; No

Edited by: Valentine Gannon on 20/11/2010 23:51:33 Its just frustrating that a corp can login an entire fleet at 0 on the undock at station instantly using this trick. an it works, as we have tested it. My question is this... is it an exploit? I must say its great for bagging high value targets on 4-4 and EFA. Is this the new standard.

How can it be an explot? CCP has no idea if the person logged off or if the persons power or internet went out which caused the disconnect.
Hell if someone turns on the microwave my wireless signal goes out and I lose all internet until it's off again. Is CCP going to ban me because my GF wanted to pop some popcorn? No.

then this is the new gold standard for ganking on the undock. An entire fleet lays in wait for a high value target, then logs back in at 0 on the undock instantly when such target appears. It seems that this is the best way to camp trade hubs with 15-20 man gangs.

It does take a few seconds for the ships to warp back to wherever they left the game at. In that time if a ship hasn't docked or warped away something is wrong. Unless of course it's something large like a freighter or capital ship, but they should still be close enough to just redock if the session change timer gods are nice.

Sounds like what's happening is that the emergency warp tries to warp you in a direction where you end up bumping into the station and get stuck on it, therefore you don't actually go anywhere.
Which means there's a good possibility that doing this will cause you to emergency warp as normal and it's not really a reliable trick.
Oh yeah, about my sig... you have now read it.

No, you appear at 0 instantly! no warping. We have tested it.

Anyone flying in slow ships (indy ships, freighters, ...) or pimp ships should be using undock bookmarks on any busy station anyway, why would you want to give time to other people to scan you ? _ WTS Capital BPOs |

Yeah, sure. There are connection problems. And then there's an entire fleet disconnecting in the middle of undock, logging back in at the same time and starting to shoot a juicy target.
Not that I have seen it personally, but if we are to trust the OP's story then I would call it an exploit.

Edited by: Scorpyn on 21/11/2010 00:55:13 Could someone please explain why this would be better than pressing ctrl+space or the stop button? Because I don't get it...
Edit : Got it now, don't need to explain.

Technically, if you have found a way to bypass normal game mechanics, ie the usual warping from 1 mill kilometres, it is an exploit. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on what side your on, CCP probably don't give a rats ass. Sig ---

Has this been tested thoroughly?
AFAIK, when you log/discon, server attempts to e-warp your ship. Sometimes this can be prevented/prolonged due to bubbles/points/bumping.
After 60s or the aggro timer expires (whichever is longer), your ship disappears.
If you log in before this, you regain control of your ship. If you've already entered e-warp, you cannot do anything until you come out of warp back where you logged.
If you log in after your ship disappears, you regain control where your ship (attempted to) e-warped to, and are automatically warped back to where you logged out.
Question is - has this been tested with waiting until the ship disappears before re-logging? Next question is why bother? sure, you don't show up in local while you're logged off, but why not simply wait on the undock? especially if it doesnt work when your ship disappears after logging out.

Sounds like if you undock and log while the screen is black your ship doesn't warp. It just vanishes. Then when you log back in your ship is sitting at 0. You remove the warp.
Personally don't see how it can be useful for anything other then popping untanked haulers or similiar small low ehp ships Sig ---

How I have seen it used is this: Set insta-login trap. Get high value target agressed on undock with bait. login and kill target.
Seem to work very well with empire agression mechanics.

How many empire high value targets will bait on that once it's used more than 20 times?
Anything else that's big, fat and juicy that undocks at any major hub and doesn't have an insta-undock BM to get off the station without being scanned for juicyness does deserve to die anyways. New Eden needs a Public Feature/Idea/Bug-Tracker |
