Hi all,
Hoping someone can help me out here, just looking for what I can do to up my powergrid,I'm playing Amarr [Omen] so I'm wanting to get as many Med Turrets on there as I can. From what I understand Engineering will give +5% and with Jury Rigging you can add the PG rigs what other skills/mods etc can I get to help with this?

Advanced Weapon Upgrades will decrease the PG requirements for turrets and launchers.

Yeah ... about those power grid rigs ...
I actually make those ... but ... I've come to wonder if I wouldn't be better off - installing rigs that directly gave me the thing I wanted to use that extra power grid for.
For example - say I want more shields - and putting power grid rigs on would give me more PG to put into my shields - would I be better off with Shield Rigs instead?
I'm not sure but it's been something I've been thinking about.
Now - one advantage of the power grid rigs - is that you could have more flexibility with the PG you had. Put on a Specific Rig and it's only going to do that specific thing - but with the PG rigs - you could do anything with that power you wanted.
So ... *shrug* I'm not all that sure about which is best. Probably depends on what you want to do with that particular ship.
Of course - if what you want to do is put more guns on - there isn't a Guns Rig. There may well however be rigs that will enhance the utility of the guns you've already got ... so ... it is the kind of thing you might want to put some thought into before you put those rigs on - since - you can't take them off without destroying them.
One clue as to what to fit rig wise - would be to look at some of the fittings in the Ships & Modules forum. A lot of the guys posting fits there include which rigs they use. There are also some fits in the user guide.
Here, for example, is one on Drakes.

There's also Hardwiring implants to increase powergrid.
However, it's probably best to first train up all core fitting skills and then look to rigs and implants which will leave your module slots open for more offensive and or defensive modules.

Power Diagnostic Units and Reactor Control Units both increase your grid by a set %. The above mentioned Micro power core give a set amount of grid and are usually only used for a frigate sized ship since they only give 10 or so grid. Beyond that, Ancillary Current Router rigs give 10% to grid which is the same as a tech 2 PDU so you have to decide which you need more.. the low slot or the rig slot.
In reference to the above mention of specific rigs.. that too is situational. The rigs that increase shield or armour hp for example give a fixed 10% (for t1 rigs) increase. Obviously the more shield/armour hp you already have, via shield extenders/armour plates, the greater this will benefit you. In the case of weapon specific rigs... you can use them to increase damage/rate of fire/tracking/ect but they will also cause an increase in the fitting needs.. usually more power grid for turrets or cpu for missile launchers. This is not the alt you are looking for. |

Also besides the advice that has been given (which is great) the Omen is notoriously difficult to fit, it has serious PG and CPU issue's that don't allow a decent balance of tank and damage, even with perfect fitting skills.

There are few things that give Power Grid (they've been listed), and even fewer that give CPU. It's because Power Grid and CPU are two things that CCP uses to "balance ships" and they don't want their math complicated by the existence of a zillion modules. And yes, some ships are designed to be crappy in combat; they have the slots, but lack the grid and cpu to fit big guns / big defenses.
