whats the point, with Thrashers it is all in the Alpha.
The only thing that is safe is to use the layout of the system to your advantage.
Being at a good vantage point from the warp in or in a Hidden Grav Belt will save you not an audience.
But at least Concord will be there to applaud my work.

What work are you talking about? Shooting a big target sitting duck? No effort or risk involved - no work done.

Ok my fun, what ever floats your boat.
Or sinks it if your in the wrong boat.
Doesn't change the fact that to avoid popping there are much better tactics then an audience.

Well, someone has to write the manual. Ten hulks saved by this are worth one of mine being popped by some angry yob blob ^_^

Not gonna save any, the manual is using the system mechanics to your advantage like my previous post stated.
Concord in the belt does very little to save you. Even on the few ships it does help most gankers overkill the target.
The only fail is tanking your ship wrong and sitting at the belt warp in AFK. You want to help people avoid ganks then give real advice.

First, a pro gank can't be avoided as it's promoted by game mechanics directly. You can take certain steps to have an advance warning, but that's all. If you're targeted, you're dead. You have no chance to run, no chance to hide, no chance to fight back, no chance to endure the beating until the help comes and no chance to be compensated for trouble. So, the only thing to be done is to use the same game mechanics, that gankers use for free kills, against them.
Second, the only real proper advice is "playing solo is hard, playing solo miner is hard^3", everything else is redundant. Therefore, here's a guide on how to survive some random noob ganker (i.e. 95% of participants) attack. Which automatically means you have 10x chances of survival if you follow this manual. Yes, one wouldn't be able to avoid you or me, but we aren't the majority.

Two words: trial account.
Several more words:
You can't run trials in tandem with main accounts.
And that is relevant to pre-spawning Concord in an asteroid belt because....owait it isn't. (Psst...log in with trial spawn concord....log out...log in with main....mine happily)

That is terrible advice why do you even own a computer
Touche, my dear sir! Touche! Allow me to amend my advice: If you lose a ship to a suicide gank, the best thing to do is tantrum in as many ways possible on the internet. If you post rage-quit threads in at least 5 forums you will not only get back your dead ship, but also a magical space pony that destroys would-be griefers by shooting rainbow lasers from it's eyes!

Can confirm this works with the lazy carebear pirates flying throwaway destroyers or cruisers , but this tactic is sadly useless against Large Projectile based ships.
Hell even the DC2 + EANM + civ shield route is useless against them.

Damage Control II Expanded Cargohold II
Magnetic Scattering Amplifier II 2x Invulnerability Field II Small Shield Extender II
3x Modulated Strip Miner II, Veldspar Mining Crystal I
2x Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
For Jet Can Minning, it will out run a Tempests alpha with ease.
Also what is with miners and Civi Sheild Boost let alone a duel tank???

No if you get blobed your done anyway, but EANM and Civi Sheild Boost?! At least put up a real buffer fit.
Also for them to shoot at me I would have to fly a Hulk or Minning Ship of anykind. They are Death traps but that is no excuse for a Civi Booster during Hulkageddon.
Civi Booster when you want to buffer.

Will write down your fit for future reference , but I'll rather just run Level4's or CA's come HulkaGeddon this time.
RISK/Reward not worth mining that period tbqh.

think of it as a possible break to try new avenues. I have made it my mission to try everything EVE has to offer.
I suggest
*Exploration *Ninja Salvaging *PVP *Ninja Null Sec Ratting and Anoms *Low Sec Lvl V Fleet *Suicide Ganking *Worm Life or Day Trips *Play the Market
There is so much to do and so many styles you can do it in. Such as Stealth Bomber Wolf Packs, make a Drake Gang, Seige a POS and steal a Wormhole, Solo Frigate Roam, Team up on a High End Complex in quite 0.0, Scam People, bait a Mission Boat by looting and Test out how fast that Concord response time is.
The only thing in your way is mind bending failure and that is just a temporary condition.
Don't think of it as 2 weeks off, think of it as 2 weeks vacation \o/

I like everything about that fit with the exception of the Expanded Cargohold. I would prefer to use a Reactive Plateing to plug the hole in the armors Explosive resit than applying a penalty to the ships structure. Sure, it's just over 10K m^3, and you gotta dock alot more, but it's overall a better way to go for this event.
If I've said it once, I've said it a-hundred times, and I'll say it till my tounge bleeds, "Pirates don't kill miners; Greed does!"

Origionally it had 2 and cargo rigs to see what numbers I could get. It wasn't good, the Cargo Hold Expander was left over and I posted it before trying to change it out.

Its fairly easy to make a hulk hard to gank ehp wise but most miners seem unable to take the slight loss in isk for the week to keep their ships safer.
Low Slots
Damage Control II Micro Auxiliary Power Core
Mid Slots
Medium F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Magnetic Scattering Amplifier I
High Slots
Strip Miners
Rig Slots
Medium Core Defense Shield Extender I Medium Ancillary Current Router I
Grand Total of 28,657 Ehp Omni Still Mines at around 1500-1650m3 a minute with decent skills

Maybe if miners numbers will dwindle enough , due to them quiting game/switching to mission running , market will notice the loss and CCP might re-balance this forsaken profession . P.S. I'd like to see mining ships like soviet Harvesters in Red Alert 3 . In case of danger , wrap in armored coat , get all resists 99 % , reduced speed , no warp , no control of drones and hi-slots switched off .

Everyone cries foul on this tactic, yet I have seen no evidence that this is positionable... Links? Devs? Rule book? Sounds like a bunch of whine Want cheese with that? Ok, lets hear it. Why should this NOT be a valid game mechanic? If I shoot you, Concord is going to come pulverize me. Same in real life, someone gets shot, the police are coming. If someone shoots someone else while the police are standing there, what do you think the police will do? Give the dude a free pass? Seriously? Maybe the shooter can petition!..
Originally by: Suiginryou Hitaiga Edited by: Suiginryou Hitaiga on 30/11/2010 03:34:41 0. Create an alt. 1. Fly it to your mining area. 2. Switch to the mining character. 3. Drop a jet with 1 veldspar in it (or something as usable) at your mining area. 3. Switch to the alt. 5. Attack that jet. 6. Wait for Concord to arrive and raep the poor alt. 7. Smirk as you now have 15 minutes of zero time Concord reaction. Consider it 10 to 12 for safety purposes. 8. Switch to the mining character. 9. Suck up roids and/or ice at your leisure. Rinse, repeat, enjoy.
Note 0: Stay aligned to the base while you are mining, AT ALL TIMES. Don't be lazy, it only requires three mouse clicks. Note 1: You may still need some protection to survive the alpha damage. Consider it. Note 2: If you have been damaged, warp back to base for repairs IMMEDIATELY - there can be a second wave. Note 3: These means are not a guarantee (especially if you're flying any mining ship except a tank-fitted Hulk). You cannot survive the alpha tempest. So if you see ANY warship approaching you, WARP OUT AT ONCE. Note 4: You will be petitioned for "exploiting the game mechanics". Therefore, deleting alts is not advised. Make another alt account if the current one is obsolete. No deletion, no exploit. Note 5: Another way to avoid being accused of using an exploit is to create two alts, with one flying a noob ship to the location, for the second to board it and shoot the jetcan. CONCORD doesn't shoot pods. Take advantage of it. Note 6: Bumping this thread along with "Hulkageddon" ones is advised.
For whiney wannabe pirateys: please tell me where exactly did I say anything about recycling characters? Create it, use it, stop using it, make another trial account. As both Atropos and Grimmi stated, only recycling is an exploit.
