So now when I use window mode, my task bar at the bottom of the screen no longer disapears when in game so it covers up all my low slots.
Any idea how to fix this?

If you're doing what I do, as in use Window Mode like full screen but so you can easily access the task bar and other windows - that's basically what 'Fixed Window' is now, set to Fixed Window and your native resolution and you'll have the same experience as before.

Although that works sort of, it doesnt fix the issue. I like being able to run in windowed mode at my full screen res and then being able to minimise the client to start something from my desktop, which fixed window wont let you do...its also bloody annoying how its changing res in game..
CCP, wanted to flag this as an issue and will follow it up with a petition
Running in windowed mode, now makes your taskbar appear and for me, it stops me being able to access functions on the bottom of the client unless I alt-enter to make it full screen..

I am having the same issue. I am currently running 3 Monitors and have 2 Eve clients set to multiple displays. To give you an idea of what I am observing Ill just tell you my set up.
1. Nvidia 9800 GTX+: Monitor 1 + 3 2. Nvidia 9800 GTX+: Monitor 2
On my Desk: Monitor 1 + Monitor 3 + Monitor 2
Monitor 1: Primary Display with task bar, desktop etc etc Monitor 2: Main Eve Display, Fixed Window functions normally with no task bar at the bottom Monitor 3: Secondary Eve Display, Fixed Window shows "task bar" space on the bottom with no task bar in the location
While it is a MINOR inconvenience, I to enjoy a "full screen" feel of the display. Is it possible to adjust the coding or the function for the fixed window to fully cover the display on multiple monitors?
If not, I know how to unplug the monitor and hook it up to another graphics card slot :-)

Because the windows taskbar is still on the bottom of the screen.

Edited by: R0ze on 30/11/2010 21:54:56 The old window mode with the help of either EveMon or Eve Windowed mode helper ( http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1040956 ) is/was kinda better.
With the new Fixed window setting: - when you dualclient (use the same client folder) the last graphics settings are remembered means you have to Esc/Graphic settings all the time when you want to launch more than a single client/char
- With the old mode (if I remember corectly) the focus was on the window where the mouse pointer was active without the need of clicking something (could activate the mods just with moving mouse + F-keys)
- The current windowed mode is borked with Evemon etc as the client autoresizes back to some odd resolutions (like on primary screen substracts/adds twice taskbar height on secondary once) - on 1920x1080 I end up having something like 1952(2000)x1080 etc..
I'm not against the new additional mode (its probably quite usefull for single screen) but please change the old windowed mode as it used to be in the pre-Incursion clients..

So i tried this today thinking great its all sorted to have 2 clients on 2 screens. Put it into fixed and the first screen looked great, no border or anything just pure eve corner to corner. I then put on my second account in fixed mode and it just pans to my first screen.
So i though great, still not fixed i'll go back to window mode as I was previously. But now I have more borders showing around each screen and i have to keep resizing them as they're a few mils short of the screen now. Never had a problem in window mode before, kinda got used to the slight borders but just being a pain now having to resize all the time.
Plz cant we just be able to have 2 clients on 2 screens, with no borders ? |

Hot Totti, I was thinking the same thing when I saw the patch notes. I have 2 video cards, each connected to one of two monitors. When I start a client it starts in the Fixed Window mode at the monitor's resolution, but for the second client to run on the other monitor, I have to change the video card it's using (I don't run SLI with EVE...no point) to the video card connected to the other monitor and set the appropriate resolution. Then I have one client on each side.
When I click off of my main monitor the task bar pops up over the EVE client on that monitor, but that's not a huge deal.

Easy fix I just found. 1.Set your display to normal windowed mode with 1920x1080 as your res. 2.Apply. 3.Select fix window and done. If you want to span window across multiple screens, follow step 1 and 2 but skip 3. After step 2, grab title bar and drag a bit to the side, grab opposite side of frame (resize arrows) and drag across 2nd screen. Now step 3.
It worked for me.

Ive had to lower the res meaning I have a smaller "window" now. I dont really want to do this but its the only way around it I can see

Sounds like Jazza has the exact same problem.
Before patch, in windows mode, your task bar wasnt showing but you could minimise the window by clicking the minimise button at the top right of the game client if you wanted to access your desk top. Post patch, the task bar is now showing in front of the game client, meaning you lose access to your low slots in game.

Yep exactly the same...and yes I can run it in fixed windows mode and alt tab back to my desktop, but thats not what I want to do, or didnt have to do prior to the patch. I simply ran it in windows mode, the task bar sat behind the client, and when i wanted to do something in windows I just minimised the client, did what i needed to do and clicked back on the icon in the task bar and the client popped back up. There was no ****ing around alt-tabbing through every thing I have running on my PC to get back to the eve client if that makes sense.

i am in a similar boat, i use 2 screens and also ran in window mode, i would disable desktop composition to make the borders nice and small and just drag my clients so that i could just see the minimise button.
Now after patch, its like desktop composition doesnt work, my borders are back to being big again with no way to reduce them.
if i open a client and drag it to screen 2 and then apply fix window mode it just flicks it onto screen 1 and yes forces the task bar on top.
Until i can go back to how i had things set up before, i really cant see myself bothering ( i admit i was suffering from burnout and havent really logged in for 3 weeks) but this isnt enticing me too

My solution? I just Auto-hide the Task Bar in Windows, (task bar properties), which actually works a lot better for me than the old way, now if I want to alt-tab between characters, or other programs, I just mouse over the bottom of screen and voila.

I'm having the same problems. My solution was also the auto-hide task bar in windows. I find it vastly inferior. Everytime I try to bring up a minimized in-game window I trigger the windows task bar to pop up, which in very annoying and disruptive. Please give us the old windowed mode please, just as a 4th window option.

CCP This is hella stupid, I ran multiple clients from the same folder and dragged them to another monitor that happens to be smaller than my main one. In the good old days the window just 'bled' across my expanded desktop and if it really bugged me I could reset the size but it never did, now when I move through windows/browsers/evemon the client I put on the smaller monitor gets automatically resized to that monitor without my permission which also screws up all my 'pinned' tabs/layout.
Why couldn't I have an option to not autosize the ****ing client window, you mentioned you were letting us control the size of the window not that your were going to force compliance on monitors etc. 2010 and we still have programmers trying to force users to do things the way they think they should be done instead of letting them do it as they please.

A corp member has talked me through and i can now have 2 account running on 2 screens. Am sure i'd done it before but i can now have it in fixed mode with screen 1 on display adapter 1 and screen 2 on display adapter 2.
Working perfectly fine. Thank God its finally been done

I would still like to know if CCP has anything to say with regards to the "more than 2" monitor problem I have with additional clients.

Hi,
Windowed mode will now always show the task bar at the bottom of the screen as other windows programs do. You can however drag the window to make it fit around this so that your game is not cut off.

Are you sure that the secondary client on monitor 3 has the correct resolution selected for fixed window mode? Or that the correct resolution is selectable? ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

There's now 3-4 of these threads. This one seems to have the most posts.
CCP, this wasn't a problem until the incursion patch. Now it is. Please consider fixing this instead of ignoring it and hoping it will go away.

Same problem here.
I run 2 clients,puter has 2 vid cards running 4 monitors.
I discovered that the way windows sees the cards, card 1 hold slot 1 and 3 and card 2 hold slot 2 and 4.
Now I use my 4 monitors clients starting on their own cards but the way I stretch the clients on 2 monitors,I think I have to reassign them properly...again.
Following? Tought not...I dont either...
Starting xmas vacations tonight,so I'll have plenty of time to mess around with this crap and possibly come up with a solution that I'll be happy to share.

Actually it works better than before incursion now...
- Pre-incursion external utility was needed for windowed mode (win7) or bottom was cut off on windowed mode - Post-incursion drag&drop window to top of you screen and it resizes to fit screen (bottom not cut off). Sometimes it "forgets" position tho and you need to drag again

You know what? I forgot that the old windowed mode was broken unless you had evemon.
The trouble is, evemon + the old version was way better than the current incarnation, which drops the important buttons behind my task bar.

I don't understand how you are getting this.
Fixed window + Full screen resolution means the taskbar goes behind the window.
Windowed Mode + resolution greater than your viewable desktop area, gets the taskbar in front of it. If you are using a resolution like this, use fixed window mode. Problem solved. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |
