When the Noctis was released there was an immediate rise in medium salvage tackle rigs. I had figured that this would be so as so many capsuleers rushed in to purchase rigs for their new salvage ship. About a week ago I had predicted this and bought 100 units of medium salvage tackles for 5m ea. Today I sold them all for a little under 10m.
I am new to MD so dont chew me alive. I do look forward to your opinions on the correlation between the rigs and the new ship.

At least from what I can see your patch speculation was done correctly. Rain's response might be in part because either 1) he was gouged on the rig prices when he bought some for his noctis or 2) he didn't have the foresight to also buy into the rig market ahead of time like you did.
Speculation around patches can be extremely profitable if you're willing to take the time to read patch notes and/or log onto the test server to get an advance heads up on what's coming. That being said though, you can still get burned if things don't turn out the way you think they will so be careful.
Congratulations on your 500m isk profit :)

What is there to discuss? The demand increased due to a new ship, you stocked up and then sold for a profit when the price rose. There's no discussion here? Did you just want a pat on the back?

Because this rollar coaster has just begun, and the fewer people on it the more entertaining it will be. Noctis demand is not going away tomorrow or this weekend. It will be a hot item for a long time.
What did you do wrong? When you find an opportunity that is ripe with potential you don't advertise it on MD the second you find it. First you milk it. Then you milk it some more. Then you get out before the crash.

Seems the good times are over. Thanks again to Apollo.
Bought the 2.5b worth of 10m salvage rigs up at about 16:00, relisted them for 18m (which turned out to be too low ). After 2 or 3 hours, with me having sold almost everything I bought, I bought all the rigs up again, bumping from 15m back up to 23m.
Then I thought I'd just build some, simply because supply didn't ever meet demand... Till like an hour ago, I bought them all up again at around mostly 14m - wasn't a good idea. At least I didn't build the ones I bought the mats for. I was actually thinking that it was not a good idea to do this in US TZ, turned out to be true.
So lost 400m on the last attempt, but made 2.8b on the first two.
And being emo and mad, I crashed the price to 6.5m (which is near their mat price).

This is why. Loose lips lead to someone else getting on your opportunity. Or perhaps rain9441ing on somebody's parade, who was still trying to exploit the opportunity.

Shoulda just waited for all the jockets to leave the market, then put them up again ;) Back to nice prices now. There was a bit of a mad rush on them (thanks for lettin cat outta the bag :P) but the noctis still has high demand, don't forget there are thousands of players who'll want to buy one! They'll allll need rigs. Mwahahahaha

Yeah, I'm still pretty sure though that the ridiculous price of today was enough of an incentive for people to produce dozens/hundreds of rigs over night, which will flood the market tomorrow. Just minutes after I bought the rigs up for the third time, 300 new rigs appeared (one order with 200 disappeared though), so I'm pretty sure we won't see 20m rigs again. Unless someone with ~10b isk turns up, of course.

You know you can borrow money right? If you've got a good idea, offer a very nice return on investment with a quick turnaround quite a few people would probably front you the cash -or- give you a commission for the idea. Ultimately it wouldn't have cost you a penny and it could have resulted in not only a very nice profit but also a new business relationship with a more established player -and- having proven your bona fides by making that partner money.
Never underestimate the personal aspect of business. Business is business true enough but the essential heart of business is all about personal relationships and trust.

I wonders if you're the person that dumped the 500odd units at 5mill under the current value to the market? :P That drove the prices right down and people have been offloading them from 8-12million isk since then. I wonder if the price will rise again? I got out selling my very last units 5minutes before that order appeared, then breathed a huge sigh of relief. A very tasty profit indeed! Still even at 8-12mill it's 1-5mill above the old price! Still some more profits to be made ..

they were going for up to 20m yesterday in Jita 4-4. I myself bought some for 6m and then sold em for 17-18m. It's the things like these that I find that keep me trading

Perhaps by pointing out good opportunities and allowing investors to see my potential perhaps then a nice loan may be in the future.

Grinding rep (especially if you tell people about it) to me would mean the 'rep' is worthless. It's not like a skillpoint bar that fills up as you 'do favours for md' .. Can be sure you wont be hearing from any of my characters should such a loan request come in without collateral! :)

Well..... to be fair....
These are rigs that go on the shiny new ship that is amazing for salvaging (making salvaging wrecks much faster and easier). Made from salvage. That more people will be getting more of.
Read- first wave will dump a bunch on the salvage market and prices will drop. Probably not the best time to keep a large inventory with long production jobs- if they finish at the right time you'll make a killing, but a few days (or hours) later and you'll lose your shirt :-P

TBH.... it will probably be hard, especially if you're looking at things like patch day speculation. Entirely apart from whether you guess right or wrong, people's first reaction is going to be "scam". To deal with this, you need to either:
A. Say what you're planning to do. Maybe not on the forums; maybe just in a private chat. Either way though, you will still have to tell someone with much more ISK than you about a potentially large money-maker; there's always a chance they'll go "thanks for the tip" leaving you not only without more ISK but with more competition cutting into your profits. B. Have collateral. However, if you had collateral you quite possibly would not need the loan
or
C. Have someone who trusts you. Which generally requires a history with them. Which usually requires A or B. Now you can't get it because you're not known, but you can't get known because you can't get it.
In all seriousness- Good luck to you. Honestly, no sarcasm. 'Cuz you'll probably need it. *** Wish list for PI:
