Just happened to me:
1) Warping into a hard lvl 4 mission.
2) Deploy drones when ships start aggroing & travelling towards me.
3) DC'd.
4) Eventually logged back in to find drones dead.
5) Got warp jammed by tackler NPCs.
6) Cannot kill tackers without drones.
7) Eventually lost ship when cap ran out.
imad.
Anyone got other irritating moments so I don't feel so bad at just losing my ship?

In my 1st week (back in '04) taking my shiny new Merlin out for a spin and getting blown up at a low-sec camp. Begging my friends for money to get a new one then flying the same route again thinking "he can't possibly be doing this for hours" and getting blown up by the same guy again

in a 2v2 FW fight, 2 cruisers, getting one of the other ships down past armor, thinking you've won!
Only to find he and his friend are structure tanked right before 8 more ships come in and get the drop on you >.<

Doing lvl 4 missions with an Admin agent. Get 4 kill missions in a row, and suddenly i get a courier mission 6 jumps away (12 jumps go and return).
Sigh... alright.. imma do it, already declined one and don't want to wait 4 hours...
Accept mission, load cargo into badger, go. 6 jumps later, i dock at the delivery station. Then i undock, and head back. Once i return, i notice that i forgot to turn in the mission at the destiny station. Facepalm-of-doom-and-destruction. I have three kids and no money. Why can't i have no kids and three moneys? |

Edited by: Barakkus on 02/12/2010 20:49:53 Forgetting I had shortest route set for my autopilot on my alt, setting a destination, then walking away. As I'm walking past my office I glanced at my monitor and noticed an orange dot on the jumps list as the next jump. Rush over to my computer and try to stop the jump, just as my hand hits my mouse I hear "autopilot jumping"....
...needless to say, gate camp on the other side...
Other one: deciding to take a shortcut through a lowsec system I often ran through and never encountered a gatecamp. I'm in a pve fit Maelstrom, jump through and lo-and-behold, flashy red gatecamp. Try heading for the gate, ship pops really quickly, regardless of my tank...spamming the warp button to save my pod then the client freezes up for a minute when the ship pops. When it's all over, I'm back in station in a pod. This was right after they added the camera shake thing, made sure it was turned off after that.

Undocking a freighter at Amarr Oris for the Ashab gate and colliding with the station's @$&%$##!! pylons.
- Ok, no problem, re-docked and undocked again to clear the pylons before warping. - Just cleared the pylons and initiated warp, freighter began to align. - 1+min later, saw another freighter which had undocked much later warp off to the same gate - me = ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
The RL cursing was fairly colourful.

Moving my first battleship to 0.0 on my first toon. It was an Apoc, fitted ok-ish considering I was like a month and a half old. Halfway up I get jumped by 6-7 frigs and die horribly as they shoot all my drones and I had nothing else to kill them with. I think, ok, I knew it would happen sometime, I'll fit to get by them. So, I buy an Apoc Navy Issue with accumulated mission isk from grinding missions with my mentor while I learned, fit it with mostly T1, some T2 mods, and ALL MEDIUM GUNS, so I can kill the frigs if they jump me. My first few lowsec jumps on the way, I hit battleship camp. Owned. It was the only time I really considered stopping my account. I've since sold the toon, as I didn't like how I trained everything I could get my grubby hands on and wanted to specialize. :)

Back when I started, I was in a battle in 0.0 and had to go afk. The FC said to go afk at a pos. I safed up in the POS. The FC for whatever reason came back to the pos and "warped fleet" back to the battle even though only 3 or so people were at the pos. I came back to just my pod in the midst of a battle. I then warped my pod back to the POS, was alone and went afk again. The FC again warped fleet from the pos, so I came back to my pod in station lol.

Edited by: Night Epoch on 02/12/2010 22:18:03 Seeing our ENTIRE capital fleet utterly obliterated while our pilots were staring at black loading screens during the epic lagfest that was the famous D-GTMI battle (between CVA and AAA).
We lost something like 300 dreads/carriers while our pilots were literally helpless.
Yes, it was a horrible decision to cyno us directly on the grid, instead of to a deep safe / then warp to grid load BM / then warp to battle, etc. but still... it's preferable to lose your capital ship when you can actually see your enemy and activate your modules

I ran a level 1 mission I wanted to check out the hawks new bonuses.
Two things to blow up, took me 45 seconds to complete the mission.
Couldn't turn the mission without help from a GM as the agent refused to believe I did the job.

My first time running into an ECM. This game went from my dream game to "Oh... another game with stunlock". The only time I've ever considered rage quitting a game, purely out of disappointment. Since then I've come to accept that every game has its flaws, and stunlock is one with MMOs. Such is life.

1) Flew as a part of a FW fleet looking for fights.
2) Ran into a much larger enemy fleet and the order to disengage and regroup at another location was given.
3) Aligned to a regroup location in the same system, disengaged and warped out.
4) A little over a minute after trying to repeatedly do the above, no orders had been registered by the game and I had to watch helplesly as my ship finally got pointed and reduced to a wreck in an easily escapable situation and I couldn't do **** to prevent it.
5) Listening to vent as people repeatedly *****ed about why I didn't just leave when ordered and gave the enemy a free kill, and then listening to them tease me even more about my dubious sounding explanation.
I don't mind losing ships and sometimes you can do nothing to prevent a loss, but dying to an easily avoidable death because the game took all control away from you is pretty frustrating to say the least.
