Hey guys
I was thinking about getting two additional characters for myself, and this is what I had in mind:
My main will continue using a Abaddon, while training for a Nightmare. My alt will train for a Maelstorm, and eventualy a mach. My other alt will train for a Dominix, and eventualy a Rattlesnake.
Heres how it would go:
My Dominix character would be the tank of the fleet, he would be pimped to tank, not deal damage. He would have Salvs, tractor beams and drone link in highs, while mids and lows are purely fitted for tank. It would be equipped with sentry drones which will be put on assist on the other ships.
My main will be in a gank fitted Abaddon, no tank, just pure DPS. Gyros and tracking enhancements along with T2 guns.
The maelstorm character would be the same as the abaddon, purely fitted for DPS.
So how this would work:
The Dominix jumps in and takes the aggro, gank ships jump in. Drone assist on gank ships and put tank on, leave unsupervised. Gank ships will proceed to destroy everything while the Domi tanks.
The Domi would loot and salvage what it could while there are still mobs, except for that it will be pure blitzing.

From what i know its not how it works. Fit your abaddon with passive hardeners and pure gank. Dominix should rep you and put his drones on assist.
Thats for l5 at least. For l4 ù dont bother with 3 chars, it wont go faster.

You can manage 2 chars more or less fine, but third one should be something that you can ignore most of the time. Managing all three and being effective at it gets straining rather fast. If you have multiple screens and low RoF then perhaps ...

that would be tri-boxing
I like dual boxing missions, my attention span kinda goes at 3 (although that might have something to do with screen space) but having 2 you need to pay attention to + domi does make sense. imo dual boxing with gank ship + domi is just lazy dual boxing, but with 3 accounts adding in a domi makes sense to me.
domi for looting and salvaging is kinda worthless, 20km tractors on a bs really just suck. would probably make more sense to switch one of the ships to a marauder, or have the third a room behind in a noctis.
also domi for aggro isn't exactly going to work as most missions have respawns, but with 2 or 3 ships in mission tanking becomes much easier, can pretty much just omni tank everything, the biggest annoyance imo is managing drones of multiple ships.
Mael + abby should make a nice combo. Gurista missions won't be the best, but overwhelming dps helps with that a good bit.
ps might want heat sinks instead of gyros on that abby
pps, might want some peppers to go with them onions

Edited by: beef pepsi on 03/12/2010 21:15:29 my only comment is that the domi is not as good of a tank as the rattlesnake and while you're bringing tons of gank (DPS Tank \0/ ) the domi still could melt in some rooms of some lvl4's.
In terms of trippleboxing in general, what works well for me is two drone and one gun boat: I primarily pay attention to the gunboat window and the two drone windows just sit there, drop sentries and "assist" the gunboat. I tried 3x gun boats and that was more clicking than I liked.

Good grief. If a triple-boxer loses a tanking-only Domi to L4 rats, they should quit Eve and gaming all togther.
The real issue with triple-boxing any mission is the seriously diminished returns of adding all those ships to the same mission. The most profitable option would be to get each of the characters into super-easy to use mission ships (CNR or Tengu, so you wouldn't have to pay attention to range or tracking) and run separate missions with each.

Tripleboxing three separate missions is even more attention intensive than tripleboxing the same mission, as you can have the others at least in watchlist, not get freaked out over the shields alert sound when you have forgotten to activate hardeners or repper one of your guys.
Dualboxing is actually quite effective, it shaves off roughly 40% from your mission completion time against single account (both in gank ships), third account .. well for me it's perhaps 10..15% faster completion speed at best over the dualbox time.
One of the ways using triplebox is to have third one in logisticks and not to have local tank on your damage ships, both damage ships running one remote rep (or repair drones) on logisticks as well. I have not used that one myself though so dont know how effective it would be.

I would like to add that one should be extra careful with logistic drones in hi sec environments as they are easy way to get ganked by the CONCORD. All it takes is one of them go haywire and go rep NPC on its own. No warning dialog - your first warning that something is wrong would be the global criminal timer appearing on your screen. Back before they fixsed CONCORD not spawning in deadspace (rarely) I spent nervous 15 minutes not doing anything waiting out that global criminal timer bcos one of my repair drones wandered off to rep a NPC I was shooting at. It was 'fixed' a while ago and now CONCORD always spawns in deadspace as well. I do not know if they have managed to fix logistic drones though as I have not used them in hi sec for past few years.

look into an ishtar as you tank mate with a AB on it they have a great tank also with the reduced sig radius and speed it can solo a lot of plex's on its own doing 6/10 DED in Gurista space with out a issue even up to 8/10 i have seen soloed in ishtars. so have one char on this tanking using heavy drones and the others can be pure gank. only issue is that the frigates and crusers need to be illed first as they do the best damage agaist the ishtar size hull.
