Honestly, why didn't you let us choose the size of all the UI text instead of only the context menu font? Please, a small change of a setting is all I ask. I'm not on a ridiculously high resolution (19" LCD @ 1440x900) nor am I vision impaired.
Don't you know how bad it is for posture, eyesight, etc to lean in close to the monitor all the time? This is the single biggest hurdle for me to play EVE more than say 2 hours a week. Seriously.
I'm not asking for a sweeping change to the UI where everyone is affected by it whether they like it or not, just get that damn pulldown box to apply to all of the UI text.

CCP has given us the ability to increase font size. Simply reduce your resolution to a respectable 800 x 600. Problem solved.
But of course that introduces another problem. Eve doesn't look as pretty at 800- x 600.

I'm using a widescreen TFT monitor. Do you have any idea how BAD everything looks at 800x600? Stretched out all horrible AND way too low resolution.
And we can't change the font size for all text, only the context menu (Right-click menu). I've been able to widen all text, but that doesn't do nearly enough.
I WILL NOT be forced to change my screen resolution to workaround bad UI design.
I'd sooner stop playing, but I don't want to. This is a great game. I just want it to not wreck my eyes and back.

I think, this is an important point. I told my co-worker about EVE, and that it is an amazing game. He was intrigued first, as he saw the screen shots. Then he installed EVE at home. On the next day he told me, that he deinstalled it again. I asked him, why, and he told me, that the font was to small for him. That is the only point, why he does not play EVE now. |

I am vision impaired. I was not so badly at the time I started playing, and fortunately, muscle memory lets me identify most of the UI without having to read it.
But the new right click menus are really ****ing with me, because I cant see them.

I play at 1680x1050 and I have to lean forward when I play EVE, I just started and I already hate that I have to do that. It makes me not want to play for longer periods of time. Even this forums default font size is too small, but thankfully you can increase that in your settings.
Perhaps the EVE devs have very good eyes.

So this is obviously an important topic, yet no devs have entered into the discussion?
I would've thought fixing a usability problem that adversely affects one's vision (refocusing to mid-range distance after being a few inches from a screen) temporarily or quite possibly permanently would give this trivial fix a higher priority.
Please, I'm looking for acknowledgement from a developer. Even if it's 'coming soonÖ'

I'm a huge fan of this idea. I'm running a 24" HD monitor at 1920x1080. I saw a thread from a year ago where this was the admin's responce...

This has to change. Monitors are only getting bigger and if the UI guys are planning on sticking with what they have they're not going to be UI guys for long.
Does anyone know if there is a .cfg file that we can edit to make this work in the mean time?

I'm beginning to think the devs are playing on projectors or big-screen tvs, or something. Hello, devs: NOT ALL OF US CAN THROW AROUND THAT MUCH MONEY!
But seriously, I don't have a problem seeing things in every other part of my life, why the hell should I get glasses just to play EVE?
Anyone suggesting corrective lenses should show me the degree/diploma/certificate showing they're a licensed and registered optometrist (and also psychic, being able to diagnose others over the Internet) or shut the hell up.

Is Tonto Auri actually an admin? I might be mistaken, but I can't see any proof that they are anything but another speculative player. Not trying to be argumentative, just a bit skeptical.

I fully support this. Fonts are way too tiny in EVE on large screens especially.
We need a patch that addresses the interface on high resolution screens. |

It is not like this is a new problem. CCP knows they have serious UI issues.
I believe the issue is more along the lines of:
- font design is resource intensive (expensive) and boring
- the GUI API is probably written in a way that doesn't easily allow for this change
- it isn't an item that they can put on their list of *FANCY NEW FEATURES*
- they probably have an in-development version of a new GUI in the works
Many requests have come requesting the ability to place Overview, Chat window, etc on a second monitor. That change alone would fix it for some.

I recently came back to Eve after receiving info from CCP about the new expansion, and picking up the Echelon and what not. It's just almost prohibitively unreadable. I've done everything I can to try to manipulate the font; but even lowering it to 1620 (or whatever, I'm not a resolution guy) makes the text far too blurry to read and doesn't really increase its size that much. Back in the day, when I was running the game at 1024 or 1200 or what have you, I don't remember this being a problem at all. But that's just not feasible anymore, when my native resolution makes that look horrific even with anti-aliasing.
This really is a problem.

I recently changed my color scheme to Black and it did help a lot but not nearly enough. I've given up on reading mission reports/npc conversations. Unfortunately, there's no escaping the problem. I'm an industrialist which means a lot of marketing and PI. Trying to read the numbers is near impossible... even with my nose to the screen and looking through the strongest edge of my bifocals. (note to self - find a magnifying glass)
We need to get CCP and the CSM's to acknowledge this.
