Hey guys, been playing since 07 and looking for some more PVP as its really dried up in my area. Is FW still active and interesting? And if so, Im minmatar what ship would you recommend I get in bulk to start enjoying FW again? I do mostly solo work and have round 300mil to spend on ships/fittings.
Rupture? Stabber? Hurricane?

Edited by: Xolornem Srrpep on 05/12/2010 06:34:10 Get in a Rupture and do some tackling. Mount light ECM drones.
500 extra DPS is always nice to have in an engagement, too.

Hurricane. Shield tanked for speed and DPS or the traditional armour one. Both are excellent ships and great bang for your buck.
FW is still very active and the quality of PVP has considerable improved. If you're interested in joining the Caldari side get in touch with me.
Cheers

I'm going to be joining FW later this month.I've really heard nothing but good things. The negative things I've heard seem to be from 0.0 players but their employment histories seem to show they never tried it

Will be doing a bit of Solo roaming to build up cred to Miny Corps, thinking of the Myrm or Cyclone, active solo tanking FTW! :P

Use buffers till you know your enemy better, active tanks are easily out gunned.

If you don't have much PVP experience you could do worse that taking a spin through RVB.
You're dealing with a group of pilots who are all about PVPing. And while you won't get much seat time in your cane as the majority of our fighting tends to be T1 frig and cruiser (not all just most) you will get invaluable experience operating under fire.
The ability to think and make calm rational decisions while your ships is evaporating around you is in my opinion the most valuable PVP skill in the game.
Not panicking when your 20 man BC gang is warped (because of a jumpy bait who called you in too soon on a low sec roam) into a 30 man BS gang will allow you to have the presence of mind to get aligned to a celestial to save your pod when you get pointed ;-) (true story)
It will help you stay focused on the primary rather than trying to save your individual ship aiding your gangs ability to achieve victory (and at least get you a killmail in exchange for your ship).
It will let you escape situations that would otherwise kill you since you'll be prepared to take advantages of your opponents mistakes.
We obviously aren't the only place to learn to PVP but you will hard pressed to find the quantity of quality small ship combat that we have anywhere else in the game.
Plus when you get bored and are ready to go try something else we'll wish you off with an open invitation to return when you want some more low stress PVP.
OH and you'll burn through 300 mil isk pretty damned fast if your trying to do BC PVP anyway that's only like 5 properly fit BCs or maybe 10-15 good cruisers. Better to spend it on 40-100 rifters.

RVB PVPers vary from total newbs to some very dangerous fellows but yeah newbs do fine. We're a pretty friendly environment for new PVPers. It tends to be just controlled enough to let them get their feet wet with out getting totally overwhelmed.
We even have our semi-weekly frigbrawls where we limit people to T1 meta 0 fit non rigged ships which are great fun and very newb friendly since they largely eliminate isk and sp as a factor.
Our new location also has the advantage of a couple close low sec systems which make for great fun when we get bored of shooting each other. I know of at least one Moros pilot who wishes we'd never moved constellations.

I would recommend that you use a frigate if you're going to solo roam in lowsec. You're bound to run into a gatecamp in any of the ships you've listed, and in that case you will just get murdered. ~

Not really. Gatecamps aren't a problem even in my hurricane. Yesterday I escaped a camp with at least 30 guys in it, don't ask how lol.
So TBH cruisers are fine for lowsec. Rupture stabber or speed fit cane are all fine.
I would say the 'best' is the stabber, it's so quick and **** it's just like a Vagabond only... less dps and way cheaper. The added advantages over the ruppy are that it is easy to keep alive and costs like a mil less than a rupture which will add up.
But... frigates are also good - for ganking other frigates. Get in a rifter with barrage, orbit your enemy at 7km and you will get some real decent kills, just don't expect to fight anything bigger than a destroyer.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure FW is still good 2 go, last time I was in Amamake (and the surrounding systems) there were several battles in the belts and you get to go pick off stragglers and stuff if you act accordingly. Just watch out for fleets and stuff you attack the wrong rifter and end up getting blobbed by 50 guys waiting next system over.

Uh... Sorry. Your credibility is gone. Frigates can excel at taking out cruisers, and can perma-tackle larger ships who are dumb enough to not have T2 drones or (in the Caldaris' case) target painters.

You can apologize after you've learned a couple lessons.

ruppie & cane - sure. stabber - haven't seen them fielded too much, so there must be something wrong with them
Cross train a little and you can hop on a drake. If you are interested in fw, draketrain is recruiting (even if you don't fly a drake) ---- sig sans sense |
