It's like Schrodinger's Cat; you have to jump through the gate to find out.

Having to jump through to find out of the gate is camped or not is nothing like Schrodinger's Cat. While it is true that the observer is unable to determine if the gate is camped or not at any given moment, there are parties involved that know with certainty if the gate is camped or not (the campers for one) and unlike Schrodinger's feline companion, this information is able to be transmitted beyond the confines of the gate without anyone having to look at the gate. The choice of the pirates to not inform anyone does not factor in to equation at all as the occupancy of the gate is already determined and the information about this determination is available before jumping. In contrast, the paradox of Schrodinger's Cat, the thing that makes it famous, is that while the fate of the kitty has already been determined, information about this cannot be transmitted outside the confines of the box without the box being inspected.
Edit: So no, it isnt.

It took you a paragraph to say, "That which is observed is, in this case, communicatable."?
That's a gross oversimplification of Schrodinger's scenario, by the way, and the post was obviously a joke.

I fail to see how someone can take the miss application of Schrodinger's paradox as 'a joke'. It is of the upmost seriousness and still serves to demonstrate the flaw in logic of much of todayÆs modern physics.
My comment however was that the state of the gate can be determined by the observer with a great degree of accuracy prior to them committing to the jump using only the tools the game makes available to them IF they know how to use them. Information about the occupation of the gate is accessable outside the confines of the gate.
Also gates look nothing like cats. Cats are cute and purr and have a tail.

Generally the Piekura -> Mara and Mara -> Dantumi gates are not camped, but making more than a single run will attract attention quickly. Scout it with a shuttle to see how busy it is first, then go through with the goods.
Unless this is a post by a Mail Lite alt in which case I need to say that it always makes me sad to see a blob of ships following your Firetail.

I would recommend using courier contracts. A blockaderunner-sized package (about 10k m¦) goes in and out of lowsec really quick for about 2-4mil. If you need the goods hauled to highsec with the fastest route going through lowsec you'll be far cheaper off. Personally I like flying courier contracts in a prowler. Very fast and nearly uncatchable in lowsec. So, if you already lost a few badgers + cargo you'll find courier contracts to be far cheaper =)

Actually yes it is.
You're assuming that the Cat conundrum's perspective of a single observer applies to a gate when there are in fact many such observers of the gate. However the conundrum applies to all observers equally and at the same time. So the probability wave collapses when the gate is viewed whether by a transport pilot or by a gate camp pilot. That the pilots can communicate this is irrelevant because the Cat conundrum can be equally solved simply by opening the box.
The key is that any specific pilot cannot know the state of a gate camp until they find out. Until they find out the state of a gate camp the gate camp may be or may not be, it is unresolved.
Heh. To be or not to be, that is the ques ... get a point on that freighter!
edit: yes this is all a joke. Annnnnnnd: I want that Hello Kitty Kestrel! Or the option to get ships in Hello Kitty paintjobs.

Just create an 2 alt's on your account, move one to mara at a safe in scan range of the Piekura gate in mara, another one at a Mara gate safe in Dantumi. You can reverse them on the way back. You can see if the gate is camped that way without relying on others or disinfo.

During the hay days in Mara, we used to run a escort service between Piek into Mara and then for 2-3 jumps in lowsec. Escorted everything from freighters to battleships. Never lost a ship we escorted :)
Just fyi most times if there is a gate camp the local pirates will have an alt on the Mara gate in Piek since if they get out blobbed they will run.
Best thing to do is hire a local scout, and NEVER pay upfront.

And whatever you do, don't try transport a Jaguar and a Wolf in the same run. Takes hours to clean up all the damn fur and blood. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. Not sure if you just slipped up but this is quite wrong... and I take exception to "the flaw in logic of much of todayÆs modern physics". Modern physics is a wonder of truly beautiful mathematics, dismissing it so readily is just criminal.
More importantly, any operation that allows an observer to determine the state of the gate collapses the wave function. That includes messages being sent by "special means" like in chat.
Moreover, someone being there to observe does not collapse the wave function for anybody else. You can simply consider the observer as being included in the wavefunction, thus it remains undetermined for outside entities.
