Title says it all. In this particular case I am asking about Minmatar agents.
Which ship is overall (for most missions) the best choice to speed through level 3 missions? Drake? Cane? Loki? Other? |

Tengu and Mach. Drake, Cane and Loki are good too, you can't really go wrong with either one of them.

Passive Nighthawk with 4 BCUs. Though it bested by Tengu in level 4 missions, nothing does level 3 missions faster across all races of rats in my experience.

Gank Drake/Tengu hands down. Range is a significant problem in many L3 missions, 70-100km effective lock & weapons range is highly desirable. |

A thoroughly helpful reply.
OP, please go back in time, acquire a Titan and do L3s.
Other than that, Nighthawk is pretty handy. Suggestion: Remove the "new topic" button from everywhere apart from the list of topics section within a subforum.
That'd save those with chronic hand/eye coordination some face. |

Myrmidon with dual med reps.
That ship will do any L3 without breaking sweat and can do almost all L4 as well.

Blitzing level III's,
Grab a hauler and do couriers. ^.^ Youll get more storyline missions...
But if thats not for you, get range and set for a snipe fit with AB. Mryms and Drakes do this fairly well as their missiles / Drones can deal DPS very well as targets start charging in towards you.
HAC's (if you have the SP for it) are probably the fastest way to knock it out. I used a Demios to blitz out my corps jump clone corporation. The agent level III leg of the journey on took about 4-4 1/2 hours.

Edited by: Tasko Pal on 15/12/2010 05:14:52 I'm a fan of full bandwidth (125 Mbit/s) drone cruisers. I currently use the Gila (which sells for 120 mil in Jita). Not quite skilled up for Ishtar, but that should work almost as well despite having hybrids and a weaker tank against angel. Navy vexor and drone proteus aren't quite as good dronewise (100 Mbit/s), but they have more gun.
I've had my current gila for eight days. In that time, I've raised three corps to perfect refining with significant improvements on two more (along with heavy use of a viator for a couple of days). I've also missioned in all four empires. It's a very versatile and speedy ship for running level 3s.
As a shield tanker, gila is naturally resistant to angel rats. All DPS can be dialed to the greatest weakness of the rats, though I usually go thermal or explosive on my drones (this incidentally is the extent of my customization with the mission rats, I otherwise omnitank and carry all missile damage types). I don't normally have the range that Sturmwolke wants on his ships (max range is short of 70 km without modules), but when combined with 500 m/s AB, the increase in mission duration is acceptable to me.

My experience has been that many level 3 kill missions are faster than courier missions. Many of them have a blitz you can run. Sure you get slow stuff like The Blockade (something with ludicrous tank like a drake, tengu, or a bs could just pop the triggers and blitz, but I can't), which takes me about 30 mins to crank out due in large part to the travel time (to those 100+ km rats) and my significantly suboptimal drone damage (which will be cured in about a week).

In my opinion the nicest ships for flying Minmatar missions are: Drake/Tengu for missile spam fanatics; Ishtar/Gila/Myrmidon/Proteus for drone pilots; Hurricane/Loki for turret-trained pilots.
Versus Angel Cartel (most common Minmatar mission enemy) lasers are second best, with armour tanking being a handicap against NPCs using explosive damage. Having said that, I've found the Omen Navy Issue to be a reliable workhorse.
Without sensor boosters or signal amplifiers, the Drake has a targeting range (and effective missile range) of around 70km. The Ishtar can shoot things further away than maximum targeting range thanks to drones being autonomous - I especially love the missions where I can dump the sentry drones, turn on the armour repper, and go make a pot of tea.
If you don't have the skills for an Ishtar, you could try a Dominix. Just be aware of which missions you'll need a faster ship in order to pick up mission objectives.

Lasers vs Angels? You're kidding right? EM and thermal are Angel's 2 highest resists. While the ONI may do the missions, anything that shoots explosive and/or kinetic is going to far outclass it. -------------------

Cheap, fast, toasts lvl 3s. Cap stable with everything on. I'd say probably better to switch to 425-ACs over arties against angels. AMLs cause lvl-3s can be littered with frigates, and usually annoying 'elite' type ones at that. Don't waste money on RF-ammo, especially if you go AC route.. not needed.

Like I said, second best, everything except hybrids being better. I only use rails to fill high slots due to OCD compulsion against empty slots on dominixes. I fit blasters for the lulz. Hybrids in the highs are useful for telling assisting drones which target to attack.
Excluding Angel Cartel missions, the ONI is a very nice missioning boat. -- [Aussie players: join ANZAC channel] |
