New player here, I want to play minmitar, I like the story and just there look and feeling as ships, From what I read they excel in pvp but fall short in everything else. Although alot of guides and info on the internet is outdated. Can I pve as a minmitar? using solid projectile turrets and missles. if anyone has some advice, as which ships are good at each tier, and specific things that are a must do for pve, I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to focus on mission running at this point in time as it seems to be the best way to get some early isk and prepare myself for the future. |

Minmatar do PvE fine. Perhaps not as many of their vessels are as geared to PvE as say the Caldari, but they are more than capable. Look for Arty fit vessels. An Arty 'Cane can smash through L3's with easy. Arty Maelstrom for L4's. And with projectile turret training, you'll be able to move into a Vargur or, better yet, a Machariel, with ease. And those are both Top-5 mission ships. |

thank you very much for the info, if appreciate it. If there is any other advice anyone would like to give a new player it would be greatly appreciated. Also I have heard that finding a corp can be a big way to boost your learning and potential, I know that I do not offer a lot at the moment, being a new player, but I am capable, and I generally do well in all of the video games that I play. I look forward to hearing from you all, as I hear that the eve community can be very nice if you give them a chance, and dont have any good cargo to entice them to fire upon you. But business is business in most cases. |

Err ... you must be reading wrong then.
There's a reason why Minmatar is nicknamed Winmatar and not PvP-Winmatar. |

damage selection isn't everything. in fact, damage types are one of your smallest worries in pve.
@topic: it has already been stated, but i'll confirm it for you: an artillery hurricane into maelstrom will get you through missions pretty well. try to stick to angel space though. you usually want to shield tank in pve and the cane has only three slots for shield tank, so the high base explosive resist will help you a lot.

Arty Hurricane ---> Arty Maelstrom ---> Arty/Auto Cannon Machariel
These are all GREAT Minmatar PVE ships.
If you're looking for a corp, hit me up. I would be more than happy to help you learn to Mission. I've been running missions for a long time now. With my corp's standings, you will have good access to a few agents. I'm pretty good with ship fitting too and will be more than happy to help you out with that as well. |

All of the races do PvE pretty well. They just do it differently. Generally the races that can chose which type of damage they use have other restrictions to make up for it.
One thing to be aware of if you're going to go Minmatar; falloff mechanics mean you will NEVER get the DPS that EFT or the fitting window promises you. It might say that you get 900 DPS, but when your optimal is 3kms and falloff is 45kms, by the time you get out to 48kms you're only doing HALF your stated paper damage. Arties can help with this, but its something to think about.
No matter which race you chose, you will be able to do level IVs quite quickly with good skills. No matter which race you pick it will have something 'bad' about it. No matter which race you chose, a pirate battleship is going to be better. |

I think minmatar arty fit ships are possibly my favorite for PVE so far. The slow cycle time and massive alpha makes it well worth it to use faction ammo, and you'll barely use any.
AC fits are fun too but only tend to work well in faster ships with a good falloff bonus. |
