Why is it that CCP consistently decides to penalize the player any time some thing goes wrong in a mission?

For example when a mission is complete but the player forgot or ran out of time to get the item before sever reset the policy is to reset the mission. This penalizes the player since they do not get rewarded for the completion that is flagged on the mission.

"Player forgot to..." "Player ran out of time..."
It's obviously that "Player's" fault and not CCP's.
That "player" should suffer the coinciquences of his error, so that he doesnt repeat it.

So you think the game should not be newbie friendly and that the subscription numbers should continue to fall. Lets take an example what happens if its out of the players control like power or internet outage at the player or CCP's location.

Why does SMB penalise the player when he chucks Mario down a bottomless pit? ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Internet Spaceships = Serious Business
As it is with all things, stuff happens.
Not sure what your beef is with CCP.
However I will admit getting the random disconnects is definitely a minor inconvenience. If that's the problem then you need to talk with your Internet Service Provider. Now if the game crashed after you warped to a mission area and after reconnection you find yourself sitting in a pod, file a petition.

"Newbie friendly", yes. "Mentally challenged friendly", no, for havens no.
In fact, with the addition of the "avatar creator/modifier" coming up in January, CCP is aiming to attract female players, something EVE was missing all these years.
I dont know if this change will make EVE more "woman friendly", but its a start.
Now, back on topic: If you rage quit when you fail in one mission, you must be under 10. There's another game for 10 year olds out there, it's called Lineage.

ah, **** it, can't be arsed. Suggestion: Remove the "new topic" button from everywhere apart from the list of topics section within a subforum.
That'd save those with chronic hand/eye coordination some face. |

The game should not be newbie friendly. Also, please show us these mysterious falling subscription numbers.

Don't do item collection missions before dt you can't give yourself a time buffer for.
Call me jaded but sounds like you went worlds collide farming (or one of the other farmed missions)...got greedy and went for the heron room and farmed it wrong.
Eve has an annoying countdown that comes up at like 2 minutes. This is your subtle hint to get your mission item can quick or warp the hell out before you pop the deadspace completion trigger (worth noting on a good number of missions...the deadspace completion trigger rat also carries your item can...short on time let it live till after dt).
Forgetting items....tunr in mission right away. No check mark by the item, agent not saying thank you means time to go back for it right away.

You do realise Eve's subscription numbers have been increasing every year right or are you just trying to bolster yourself with false facts?

IMHO, resetting the mission rewards the player because they get to claim all those bounties over again! Yay!

I find it nicer to get my missions done and get on to the next one. if I wanted to just farm for bounties I'd have like 20+ missions open right now

Random guy taking out frustrations on the most obvious scape goat, never mind whether they deserve it.
This is NOT a penalty, it's a bug. They don't quick save the position of every object and ship in space when it hits down time, so things can get lost. I had a similar experience to the OP (though in my case there was a Tengu shooting me in place of forgetfulness) and found that the mission gate was completely missing! What to do? File a petition, mission is reset surprisingly promptly. Still had to re-do it (wait for the Tengu to log off of course).
No ForgeMind bad things don't happen because CCP/God/the government hates you/people like you. They usually happen more to do with bad luck and your own forgetfulness. I can't count the number of times I had to fly back through all the gates to get the damn mission item (bring an afterburner AND MWD for your salvage ship kids!) just to grab that mission item, but I'm not shaking my fist at CCP for this when it was clearly listed on the objectives. Rather I've gotten into the habit of heaving the agent conversation, or journal page open when I enter the mission space. It also pops up when you've killed enough, good if you're blitzing and not farming. If I wanted to farm, there are places in COSMOS constellations for that.

More power to you. Some missions are worth farming for their sometimes-spawned faction loot, so I do them once a day for a week. It's neither a bug nor a penalty. It's a game mechanic. Just like large guns having problems hitting frigs and battleship requiring the (doh) battleship skill.
ForgeMind: if you don't want to be hassled by DT, just don't do missions close to downtime.
