Reason number 1
Python Injection, allows multiple bots to be run on 1 computer by injecting new code into the eve online client making it run virtually without the need of graphics.
Google Search - "python injection eve" and read about it.. It is what is causing the most trouble to the game and making botting easy.
If there was a way for ccp to verify eve.exe client and files as being (genuine) than this could slow down bots.

Edited by: Corina Jarr on 15/12/2010 04:30:05 Reason 2: botters (or at least the ones that make the bots) make money from the bots. CCP does not make money by stopping the bots (well, not as much as would be lost from the banned accounts). Therefore the botters have more direct motivation. They will keep trying, no matter what security methods are employed.
Doesn't mean we should stop trying, just means we must accept that this is a never ending battle.
And zip it Cooly, if someone wants to know how to bot, all they would need to type is "bot eve" and they'd get it. It doesn't take a person of even average intelligence.

Edited by: Infinity Ziona on 15/12/2010 06:33:58 There's actually a few things that could be done:
Ratting:
1. Remove all static belts, replace them with probable belts that respawn at DT. 2. Add new npc AI. 3. All pirate npcs should have a scrambler and a web. They're pirates. 4. Remove obvious names for NPCS's. Call them Sansha Frigate, Sansha Cruiser, Sansha Battlecruiser. Give them obvious visual differences that a human can easily distinguish with the look at command but which a bot cannot. Give each ship a range of possible setups and a range of possible moves. No reason 1 sansha frigate can't warp disrupt you from 24k and another can't scramble you from 2k.
Missions:
1. Randomise missions. A bot cannot think its way through a mission, it needs easily repeatable steps which is exactly what CCP gave them when it made every mission identical when it reoccurs.
Mining:
1. Remove asteroid names from overview and replace with asteroid. 2. Give each asteroid type a slightly different look. 3. When ore is mined to cargo hold call it Ore. 4. Add another type of asteroid, make it the most plentiful, when processed it gives 1 trit.
A human can learn to easily distinguish slight variations. However a bot cannot. With the above change to asteroids a bot will spend a lot of its time mining ore worth nothing while a human will easily be able to distinguish the slightly different asteroid types and won't have a problem.
The answer is not to kill bots but to make the game play require human thought more then repetitive processes. Bots cannot do human thought, they're terribly bad at it. What they can do, and do better then a human, is repeat steps 1, 2, 3.. which is exactly what ratting, missioning and mining in EvE is like. Its almost like it was designed for bot fun and not human fun. --------------------------------------------- Hate Bots / RMT? Do something worthwhile and good for EvE and cause tears and anguish for others, while doing absolutely nothing yourself! Join up. |

I love the idea of NPC ships packing regular fit outs! Make the players use normal tactics such as scanning the ship fitting :). It would also be I treating to see player reactions when belt rats warp off in low armor... -- [Aussie players: join ANZAC channel] |

Edited by: Fuzzy Weeze on 18/12/2010 08:17:39 Making sure the server verify's the integrity of the EVE client will help stop the influx of hack's. This will guarantee that we are all playing the same game.
Yes it is true that some bots run off of the images and also use virtual windows to run multiple clients at once.
But this will be just the beginning of Securing the Genuine Eve Client.
The Next process which we should discuss in this thread is creative attempts at limiting bots from existing. We should keep in mind that this should not change the way we play the game but enhance it to require more of a human interaction without making it more difficult to complete mundane tasks.

And just how do you propose they could make sure a person was running the real client?
Scanning an individual's computer? Most firewalls will not like that, and will open them to lawsuits (and we know us Americans love to sue people) for invasion of privacy. Or, a bunch of people would just not pay/play.

Well. For all this reason we may take a look what Pokerstars have made. First of all, it should be definitely check for exe file validation. Second, like in pokerstars, there is memory scan of active services in PC, and if there match for some restricted program, it warned you once and block account for second time. And just run small exe update every week with all this bot name modifications. All this steps can be accomplished by 2nd years college student, so it can't be excuse for CCP not doing so. Scan services may be done by blocking specific programs or allowing certain programs to run while eve online is running.

make it like you have to readjust your frequency while mining
Like you get a box with two dots, you have to move you're current "frequency/dot" to the needed "freequency/dot" like every 15 seconds or something.

ok I'm not 100% sure about this if the botting program can read the code that gets sent to the client then it would be able to read what asteroid is in front of it too because the client gets the command to load the certain model of asteroid
also rat bots can already distinguish scrambling bots etc and shoot them first
all that works I think is replacing stuff with a 3d system like scanning because that is what bots can't do afaik

I guess, you don't want to create more hassle for regular players, so not only farmers going to leave game. Idea is to make it simple to implement as much as possible, without rewriting 30% of game code, and as much transparent as possible for normal player. So part of this can be accomplished by what I said before, plus nighttime I had some other idea. Mission completion and mining should fall in ISK reward and mining efficiency for the second or third time and so one. To restore gain player should click "Anti Bot tab in eve" and just make some simple math calculations, like please enter correct number: six+8 divide by 2". very good example:| http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=download;mod=1078;id=51791;image |or add 4 to 6 pieces puzzle. Such task don't require a lot of coding and can be done by human at no time. Failing to complete this task in say 30 second after you open this tab, will lead to 0 ore mine or 0 ISK bounty on pirate killing for 30 minutes. if u fail two times in the row, it will block gain for 10 hours. Change puzzle variation every 2-3 days, or week, and no bot makers will be able to readjust bots. For me, like player, go to this tab, lets say once in 30 minutes, will be no problem, if it take for me less than 10 seconds to put correct answer.

Focus on the interesting part, because bots can do anything you can do, but faster. And better. :)
