why give chars that never remapped - 2 remaps totaling 3 ? and chars that remapped before only 1 (in case where you had a remap available already , totaling 2).
Give everyone 2 remaps, or equally give everyone 1 remap, why is this advantage ?

When remaps came into being chars then were given 1. New chars for the last while started with 2. If neither used any remaps. Newer chars would have 2+1=3 so old chars were given 1+2=3 to put them on track with new chars.

Except for old characters that didn't have a remap available prior to this latest update. They simply had their remap timer reset. For people who had a training plan in progress that would last longer than their original new remap available date effectively got nothing at all from this update.

It get worse. I have two old chars that remapped 2 weeks ago for the first time, decision taken considering both the case of no extra remap and the case of one extra remap (in the form of a cooldown reset).
Surely it made no sense to me to expect that I would have one extra remap if I did it then, two if I waited till today and three if I did it exactly yesterday.

It's actually 1+2 so that you can go back and forth with your remap as gift, those who had time left in their remaps received only 2 because they had 0 available.
And no for some weird reason CCP still refuses to allow stacking of remaps (it a design decision or something).

Some people got 1 exta, some got 2 extra, some even got 3 extra. And some only got to remap a week earlier then they would anyway. CCP acknowledged that they were giving 1 to everybody and 2 to old characters that never remapped. But they messed it royally. Some people got 2 or 3 and they were not oldies that never remapped.

Everyone got exactly 1 remap.
1. My main had 4.5 months left, didn't help me that I still have time left and can't really deviate from it. I would of prefered a extended time to finish using the current remap, swap to intel/mem and burn off 4 months or so of those intel/mem skills just to be done with it when the timer reset, then swap to an perc/will and never remap again with this free remap. I do have those 2.1 million points, but its a toss up right now of intel/mem (to finish and forget them), perc/will (T2 ships! ), and some charisma skills which I won't really have a free ramp available for along time if I stuck with my current thinking 
2. Alt account benifits more, it still had 1 remap but this freebie helped accellerate the training by a few months and gave me a bit more leeway to plan it. I am going to be done with intel/mem in about 2 months, map to perc/mem for drone skills (5 months I think), then map perc/will and just skill cruiser/guns which could finish the plan in about 1.5 years from start while the main is stuck with about 6 month gap or so of skills I can't determine my next remap right now.
3. Couple of my random market checking alts that have never used remaps. The way I figure, if I set a 2 year plan I could crunch it in to about 1.5 years or so. The random ass-ortment of intel/mem, perc/will, mem/perc (drones), will/perc (T2!), and the wildcard charisma (BLACKJACK UNO GO FISH!) means my plans are a bit trickier with 2 remaps instead of 3 so I can train in blocks of min/maxed attributes to sprint through: core (intel/mem) and basic ship types (perc/will) and use that third remap for will/perc, which if you think abou it I don't really need to remap more then 3x total (like, never again) for years afterwards if I stay focued on weapons/ships.
And before you accuse me of being a min/maxer, I would like to state my opinion that when self advancement takes place in real time and measures in weeks/months/years that attributes never should of been a factor (its a waiting game regardless how you spin it being "choice" and chosing one to speedy up slows down something else thats required, I will get to the destnation eventually but I can still be bored along the trip at times). Marauder 5 couldn't of come sooner , like a kid wishing christmas could come sooner and its only Christmas EVE.

Nope. Most of my characters got 2 extra remaps. And I have seen reports of people remapping wednesday afternoon and ending up getting a total of 3 extra remaps.

Yes. This is the dark irony of it: CCP gave 2 extra remaps to characters that are never gonna use a remap, and gave a (possibly very short) cooldown reset to those that in fact do use the neural remaps.

I'm a little grumpy that all it did was let me remap a couple months early, rather than the timer maintaining that i'd get a new remap at the same time.
However, I'd rather have had that remap now than later, so v0v

Agreed. There is a big difference between resetting the remap timer and having 2 stacked remaps available.
And then the weird decision to give some people 2 remaps???

So you suggest resetting the remap timer only? How would that have helped those people who had 1 or 2 weeks left... or even those people who hadnt used a remap yet.
Or do you suggest they go in and spend god knows how long adding a way to give you a remap without affecting your current timer? I'd rather they spend that time doing something useful, like fixing the 45,000 known bugs. Its a gift from CCP, you didnt get as much use out of it as someone else... who cares? Im not going to ever fly the ship they gave out, but im sure someone may one day. Should I make a whine thread saying I didnt get a ship that I could use?

I expect nothing except logic.
Some people had their timer reset, some got an extra remap (stacked) and
some had 2 extra remaps. This is a mixture of 3 different ways and I am trying
to find the logic behind it.
PS: stop labeling every discussion or information gathering as 'whining'.

i like the old saying "don't look a gift horse in the mouth"
its rather pertinent here. two people each get a gift that the gift giver DIDN'T HAVE TO GIVE. Person 1 gets 10$, person two gets 30$. I really don't understand why person 1 is complaining at all....they are 10$ richer now (or an available remap richer)!
the OP wasn't even one of the people who got the least. Some people got a gift of 3 days or so on their remap timer, the OP got 50 WEEKS shaved off his remap timer.

I had 3 remaps. I used one. Now I have zero, and have to wait a year on a remap I planned on only using for 45 days.
