I'm a buit worried about that too. Not a single word from CCP about this. Or about any Incarna features (poses, animations, gestures, facial expressions) what that's concenred - of course length doesn't matter for taking a portrait picture.

Yeah, I'd like an answer on height personally, since my character's meant to be 6'5", taller than most people, and Verone's character's meant to be over 7', taller than pretty much everyone except the Brutor. ----- Andreus Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor

There has been a post about it, CCP said from the beginning height would be fixed, because having it variable would increase the difficulty of animating the avatars by orders of magnitude.

CCP, whatever you did in that last patch has broken a lot of things. Many previously available hair colours are missing, complexion selector doesn't work properly, some hairstyles appear literally flat against the head (all the "example" avatars at bloodline selection have this problem), several previously completed tooltips have reverted ("Facial Hair Colour Offset" has reverted to "UI_CHARCREA_FACIALHAIRCOLOR") - we've got some seriously broken things here. ----- Andreus Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor

All the problems with colour I think are just one bug, where it doesn't apply the change when it should, adjust something else in the same section and they should work - change scarring/freckles/aging to apply skintone, change eye type for eye colour, for everything else try adjusting the opacity slider.

I'm not overly happy with the turn the new editor has taken. I mean: I looked like a cute latina girl (with too thick lips) and look what they make of me!! Bruce Lee with breasts???
I managed to make something acceptable of it but I can never ever get my pretty latina looks and hairstyle back in the new editor. A great step back in my opinion, I would never have picked this bloodline in the current editor's options!!
Booh!
Have to say I agree with this to an extent... seems that you've made one bloodline of each race appear very Asian - Vherokior being the most pronounced, if this is how it's intended to be on release then either we need more control over some details - the eyes particularly in this case or a one off bloodline change.
I like how in their quest to include asians in the game (which I am all for, a lot of people want avatars that look like themselves) they have STILL forgotten that India is, in fact, part of asia. Between this and devangiri script not displaying right in game, I smell a conspiracy...

Some info about my PC CPU : i7 Core 920 @ 3.6GHz RAM : 12GB DDR3 VC : Sapphire Radeon HD5870 Toxic 2GB GDDR5 VC SW : AMD Catalyst 10.12 OS : Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Some info about EVE Client / Character SISI : Build 216164 CHAR : Caldari Ashura Female SETTINGS: ALL MAX / HIGH / EXTREME / AA 4x (Super-Sample / Edge-Detect Mode / Enabled by Application Settings)
Some Graphics Bugs Encountered 1) Interim UI freezes / screen-blanking / notorious dark-gray stripes (Bug Report #104805) 2) Same Windows Desktop UI corruption as with Incursion 1.0.0 (Bug Report #104805)
* All these Graphics bugs & "effects" have been fixed recently in Incursion 1.0.2 w/ AMD Catalyst 10.12 Drivers. Is this a regression or what?
3) Severe Character Textures tearing - gaps, visible boundaries (no screenshot, because the PC hanged) 4) Capturing screenshots with Print Screen takes in some cases 10-20 seconds
UI Bugs
1) Changing Skin Color from the UI does not auto-refresh the character until you change other settings (e.g. freckels level) 2) Changing Eye Color from the UI does not auto-refresh the character eyes until you change the Eye / Iris type 3) After restoring from one of the screen-freezes (going through blank) the character was auto-dressed with some sexy underware, which seemed to be unfinished (NOT JOKING!) This type of underware was nowhere to be found in the Clothes Selection UI - after some rotations with zooming in/out the PC hanged...Is this some child-protection-fail-safe mechanism or what? 4) Eye Makeup - the UI icons have much brigther colors than the actual facial make-up being applied. 5) Footware - the UI icons does not match the actual boots, both in terms of design & color 6) Most of the Color Options does not match the actual colors being applied on various elements
Features & Options Feedback 1) The most obvious missing feature - changing the height of your character is not possible...At least adjusting the the feet / hands length should be possible... 2) The most unreallistic feature - sclupting the face is always symmetrical - there is no single living human being who has perfeclty symmetrical face!!! Make a toggle to sync / descync facial sclupting - ears, lips, skull, nose etc.! 3) The sclupting options are very limited in terms of available ranges of modification - you cannot create even slightly weird / deformed characters & faces. Especially for skull / face modification you could "unlock" or 4) The available color options for skin / eyes are too limited. Why can't I have yellow eyes or red eyes in EVE? Color eye-lens anyone? 5) Changing the lighting (direction / intensity / color) using the old 3D interface would be much better. Using the "Gallery Style" UI is not suitable, because you have very limited number of presets and the icons are too small. 6) In general - the "Gallery Style" UI for selecting certain options (Eyes, Make-up, Sun-Glasses) is not quite convinient, because you have to cycle through all avaialble options and wait for the near-real-time preview in order to find your best match. Drop-down list with bigger pictures or something like this would be better.
Styling / Art Feedback 1) Tatoos / High-Tech-Implants and other mandatory Si-Fi accessories are severely missing. All the characters look too much like cool dudes from 21st century - where is the DARK, SCI-FI-TECHNO EVE STYLE? 2) Characters with Bionic Artificial Hands / Legs? 3) Helmets / Gloves / Body Armor?
Concept Feedback 1) CCP, you must allow future modifications of the characters - once you really have enough art assets. I can't see a way to have much bigger art assets repository by mid January 2011 - both in terms of available types & number of options per type. ___________________________________ BECKS

I've been tinkering with the current version of the new creator for a few days now, and something keeps bothering me - why have hard limits imposed on our character's based solely on their bloodline? In some EVE societies, it would not be uncommon to find people of mixed heritage or background (Amarr and Gallente Federation, for instance).
I think Bloodlines should serve as a guide to character creation, not the rule. Furthermore, I strongly feel that clothes, hairstyles, accessories, etc should be open to all races and bloodlines. From a RP standpoint, one of my alts is Amarr by birth (barely), but she idolizes the ideals of the Federation and loves Gallente fashion.

Did they fix the dual monitor offset bug yet?
For those of us with the monitor stretched over two of our monitors, the bezel falls right in the middle of the login screen and the character creation screen. I need to resize my window every time I log in or use the character creator, then resize it once I'm back in space? This doesn't seem professional or polished to me. Please find a fix.
A perfect fix would be to detect the monitors automatically, and snap the character creator and login screens automatically to whichever of the monitors is the primary, then just display a filler gradient on the other monitor. I've seen it done before, they've got some pretty smart people working at CCP, I'd hope they can make this happen. It just doesn't look like quality polish otherwise.
Other then that, I'm with everyone else on the height and tattoos thing. We should have at least a small amount of height fluctuation, and we should have tats and other metal things on the body & face.

The moving and swaying and cycling through emotions of the face while trying to sculpt is ****ing super annoying.
The second in line in the ****ing super annoying department is the loading of the whatever when you grabbed it and moved it only to find out that you now moved it too much 'cause the thing didn't respond while it was loading and then jumped all over the place when the loading was done and it started loading again. While this was happening the face moved and changed to a different grimace and now you can't even tell what you changed. I think you've got the 'annoying' down pat, no need to add more.
I still can't change the size of the eyes. The first iteration of the editor had this ability. Eyes are a prominent feature of the face. Do you want all of us to look the same?
Aging effects are pretty bad and limited. The wrinkles at the corners of the eyes look pretty ridiculous. Why don't you google "aging face" or something to see how people age? Or just go outside and look at some older faces. Again, this was better (to some extent) in version 1.
The color pickers are still too small and don't correspond too well to the actual resulting color.
Here's some advice: when you're trying to be stylish and useful, and it's not working - drop the stylish. ...

Edited by: Hiram Alexander on 23/12/2010 20:04:46 Edited by: Hiram Alexander on 23/12/2010 20:00:21 Okay just managed to get back in, after the queue... First impressions:
Tops tucked into Trousers, and Trousers over Boots has made a comeback - The boots are heavily clipping through the trousers though.
The crazy drooping fringe hairstyle for women has been fixed, and the fringe now behaves nicely.
I can't remove trousers for this Gallente dude - not tried other races yet - though none of the women I flicked through could get Glasses.
Removing this guys jacket still leaves half of it on him, as does removing his tops - though one of the tops properly came off - I was cycling through them too quickly to notice which one.
--HA
Edit 1: spelling Edit 2: something's wrong with complexion - skin tone doesn't change, unless you do something like add or remove freckles; then it'll change from light-->dark, or whatever you chose...

I noticed no real response from ccp.
Can we get an update on what is planned for iteration 4? Honestly after reading all of this, I would like the character creator to be pushed back until the end of jan and have it released as incursion part 4.
Or at least until we can have
tatoos hats masks hoods, proper intaki hair.
and all that other cool stuff that made the races and bloodlines distinctive. Any release before that is simply not finished.

Probably already said, but:
eye's don't change to the selected colour until you pick a new eye style
mohawk/mohican hair doesn't have the centre piece
many hair colours heavy on the red
alt+tabbing produces a hugely lagged redraw with much black shapes time (apart from a slice of neck?)
need AA, zip on jacket looks bad
eyes are a little too crosseyed, and very hard to position with the auto animation twitching about |

Second impressions, on the new patch:
Hair gap problem on this Brutor girl's ponytail. Oh, and her mohican works, but partly collapses under its own weight. Now, I can't remember what Ladies Hairstyles No.2 used to look like - but hopefully, not this - I think something vanished.

Yeah, I only just noticed that myself, when I was spamming the randomiser; and nothing happened - but changing hairstyles fixed it for me - I didn't think to change the eye-type 'til I read your post.

With the latest patch there are some new issues with the CC. Firstly, complexion doesn't change unless you make a change to one of the slider bars (Age, freckles, scarring). Secondly, if you remove a shirt, only a portion of it disapears until you mess around with the body shape. Mohawks don't display properly. When trying to change sexes in the CC, I crashed. I've also gotten a message every time I try to change sex/bloodline/race while in the CC (words in asterisks are descriptions) *Box name* Message not found
*Body* Message: 'CharCreationLoseChangeBloodline' Args: {}
*Buttons* Yes/No
Some remaining complaints are:
Scroll wheel still doesn't want to play nice with the option wheels
No tattoos, hoods, bits of metal in the face that set races apart
The "scarring" option gives pox scars. Really? Pox scars? We have the power to warp space-time, but we haven't gotten rid of small pox?
Many of the hair styles are similar. What about the wacky, race-specific hairstyles that we've come to love?
The Khanid males look like old Japanese men no matter the aging option
The Vherokior are very, very Asian. This isn't a major issue, but in the old portrait system, they were not, so I'm a tad confused.
There's a reset button behind the interface. At least, I THINK it's a reset button. I'm not able to really see it, so I don't know.
The color changing options really need an improvement. I can hardly see them at all! Perhaps we could use a color-wheel interface instead? One that pops up?
Here's a little idea: For pre-existing characters (i.e. those that existed before the CC change), there's a little box that shows the character's original portrait so we have an easier time remaking them. You know, a picture to work off of.

Right. What "official guide", they do exist at all? Is that the same one that tells about learning skills and that you screw up your standings if you do the wrong missions as a newb?
There is no such thing as official guide unless you mean the fragmented 100,000 page eve encyclopedia thing. I can imagine hardly anyone knew about these things until they were already playing the game for a while. Blaming people for ignorance is rather silly, CCP just doesn't inform you about anything when you start playing, if you install the game there isn't a link in your EVE program folder to any kind of guide.
That you already knew everything before you started playing, well congratulations, you must be the only one. Stop blaming new players that they don't know ever minor detail about the game right from the start. And if CCP also makes races look different than intended, well that's just CCP's - unintended - way of deceiving people, I don't think you can blame players for that.

Cant found it now, as most of it was moved to evelopedia. Some probably was removed at all. But its still common knowledge that all 3rd bloodlines are asians.

Its usable, 1.) Certain areas like the nostrils have very limited sculpting parameters resulting in large nose tiny nostrils. 2.) The system needs a little more exaggeration with body builds ranging from Obese to sculpted. 3.) Problems where the history gets filled up to the point causes some lag issues. 4.) Some clothing issues with warping geometry around the collar when the head is turned during portrait posing 5.) Could use some Hats, caps, headgear for more variables. Some people are bald and want to look good with a hat. 6.) Could use color coded sculptable areas that can be toggled so you can see what you can or cannot edit.

Yup, I'm comfortable saying I'll be playing dressup for hours with this tool. Looks freaking great. I especially like being able to use the mouse to change the physical.. erm... charactaristics of toon without using the analog sliding scale. I actually went online looking for a bikini model picture to try to compare it to.
Issues: Hair models don't load Selection interface is a little clunky, difficult to scroll between the little icons on the side of the screen. Would be easier if they just slowly scrolled as you moved the mouse to the side of the window instead of having to use the scroll wheel
Maybe it's the guy in me, but I'd always though of my character as more of a rock star and less of a snow boarder. Moar PVC Stiletto freakiness and less Gor-Tex brand winter jackets please.
