what IĈm doing is running with this param:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/~/.wine" wine explorer /desktop=EVE,1800x1000 C:\\Program\ Files\\CCP\\EVE\\eve.exe
it's rock solid, can't seem to crash at all
but when IĈm trying the new flexible windows on dual screen, it always crash under less than 5 minutes
using latest nvidia driver with latest wine under kubuntu 10.10 ---

seems everyones tweaks it a little different to get it to work, like me I don't run virtual desktop and I never crash yet other people say you have to, I do run windowed mode but with my launcher it launches fullscreen.

The new flexible window doesnt work propperly in linux, you can spawn 2 simulated desktops and use that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pinky: Gee, Brain. What are we going to do tonight?

A few things.
WINEPREFIX. No need anymore. Assuming your wine is set up properly. You can even run multiple clients with a single wine prefix.
Also ~ expands to your home directory, so effective you are specifying your wine prefix as:
/home/home/username/.wine I'm surprised it's working at all!
~/.wine
Would be enough.
I run 2 clients like so: wine explorer /desktop=EVE,1800x1080 C:/Program Files/CCP/EVE/eve.exe wine explorer /desktop=EVE2,1800x1080 C:/Program Files/CCP/EVE/eve.exe
Both in flexible windows resized to fit the virtual desktop sizes. The only thing I have to do after login is move the windows up so to hide the window title bar.

Try an older NVidia driver. The 260-series seems to have a few bugs under Linux (64 bit). Even in full desktop mode does Wine+EVE occasionally crash when one switches through virtual desktops under X11. The last of the 195-series seems not to have this problem. --

I'm still using the nvidia 195 drivers, iirc. I run eve fullscreen in a virtual desktop set to one less vertical pixel than native so the virtual desktop is forced into a window. Example: I'm lame and have my desktop at 1024x768. I set the virtual desktop to 1024x767. Then I set eve to fullscreen.
To utilise the new dual monitor stuff, I set the virtual desktop to 2048x767. It still opens in the 1024 width window as before, but you can stretch it to 2048 and then set eve to run in 2048x767. Easily reversed by setting eve back to 1024 and then shrinking the window.
