Awesome chronicle and nice to see that capsuleers have been put in a positive light for once even if that light was slightly distorted at the end with fighting over wrecks. Also I figured that one of these sansha incursions would be a nice setting for CCP to do a short though preferably long movie following a capsuleer and his crew while they engage the sansha fleet. It could be an interesting way to divulge more info about the sansha or maybe it could be a unique fight where the capsuleers find a way to follow the sansha fleet through the wormhole.
just something to think about.

They could probably use in-game footage for the film.
More than likely it would be quite cliche: capsuleer ventures deep into uncharted territory that is swarming with Sansha and discovers that you can cause chaos in the Sansha network by introducing an electronic virus into their network by plugging in a USB drive to their master server that is aboard a Sansha Titan deep in Sansha-controlled space. Next follows an epic escape story in which 3/4 of the crew dies and results in a massive battle between Sansha and a Concord-led Empire fleet on the border of known space.
Sets us up for an interesting in-game event where players could get a massive fleet together and have an epic incursion into Sansha space in order to plug a potent virus into Sansha's USB slot to put an end to Nation once and for all.

Too bad we can't use this knowlage in roleplay because from an rp perspective our characters don't have access to this knowlage. More in depth about the chronicle itself: I had hoped to have this chronicle told from the perspective of a few people in different places, on the planet, and perhaps a crewmember of a sansha ship, and a crewmember of a capsuleer ship, so it becomes a bit more personal. The way it is written now is a little 'detached', even though this is a very human story.

Excellent story and a great read, if for no other reason than for the technical knowledge and detailed explanation of what happens during an incursion. This goes a long way towards answering more than a few of the longstanding questions. --------------------

Well I friggin' loved it, thought it was a great piece of narrative that (in my head) gave a really cinematic feel to what an incursion could be like.

I'm particularly pleased with this. It was a touch impersonal in its style, but just what was needed.
In particular, is it going to stop the so-called 'capsuleer dropship rescue' nonsense/propaganda that's been RP'd recently..?

I'm the only one to note this statement inside the narrative?
Quote: "Unable to sustain a viable signal with the flagship destroyed, the wormhole wavered slightly, then vanished, abruptly ending the communications static and returning the system to a tentative state of normalcy."
If this is correct, the Sansha wormhole is stabilized by the carrier on this side. You terminate the carrier and the wormhole end. The carrier enter the wormhole, the wormhole end.
Quote: The wormhole pulsed once more, sending static through every local starshipÆs sensors. When scanners came back online and searched for targets, a new contact had arrived: The massive carrier was shrouded in a layer of projected energy shielding so thick that one could barely see the heavy armor plates beneath
It don't say the carrier arrived from the wormhole. We could consider it implicit, but it is not. It could be cloaked. This make sense, with the use of gravitational waves to close the Sansha wormhole. The carrier use something to emit gravitational waves to keep the wormhole stabilized. The gravitational waves emitted by capsuleers add noise to the signal until the wormhole is disrupted. This would also explain because some times there are more wormholes, more carriers.

"Don't look up."
(Didn't they just make a motion picture about the Sansha invasion recently?)
I will say, it's nice to get a glimpse of what we'll be up against when we finally go toe-to-toe with the Sansha. The mothership's unstable shield "blast" is gonna be a fun thing to fight.

The sad thing is that once incursions become commonplace, most of the "mighty heroes" will probably stop giving a ****.

This sentence right here sparked some goosebumps up the top of my spine. I know it's cheasy, but it implied so much awesomeness. I liked it Edited for spelling |

To be fair, I think the news reports about people placidly vanishing into the bellies of dropships predates the Skyline movie. So...bad Skyline! Stop ripping off of EVE!

Although the writing feels a bit "forced up", this chronicle manages to put capsuleers under a light different than the usual "capsulerers are ultra-psycho m-f". That's refreshing coming from the usually grim chronicles...
Anyway the more it goes the more I feel a need to understand how and why capsuleers managed to happen. Who becomes a capsuleer? And why him/her and not the next person? Why would someone bother himself to build a crew-managed ship, when EVE tells how they fall down by the hundreds before the superhuman, inmortal capsuleers? Why traverse the space and risk, when a capsuleer could do it faster, better, safer? Why don't become a capsuleer oneself...?

Because not everyone is able to become a capsuleer. Out of the trillions of people in new eden only a few hundred thousand are capsuleers so the rest of the population has no choice but to risk it. That's also why the capsuleers make so much money doing missions.
