The real trick is not getting popped between the time you show up on their overview and the time your right-click menu is available. If I never even get the chance to pull the menu up, or click on an overview destination because the session change isn't fast enough, that's a frustration a player probably shouldn't have to endure.
Fixing lag fixes most of the situations you'd get podded in, with the exception of insta-lock-one-shot. If an opponent jiggered their ship for that, I kind of think they should get your pod. They made the tradeoffs necessary, they get the reward.

Low sec becoming populated means more people that would interfere with null logistics and the safety of its nullbears. This of course would be something they would not allow to happen. No I'm afraid null dwellers would not be for this idea.

Just like UO Champ Spawns, most won't come and the few that do will take the rewards back to high sec.
And for what, spend development time just to get existing customers to play different. Stupid business strategy too.
The by far smartest way to improve participation in PvP is to improve PvP so that the MILLIONS of PvPers world wide are interested.
Changing the game to try to force the small number of PvEers who might bite is just a fools errand.
The only people it makes sense to are losers who lack skills to kill anything but carebears and are looking for CCP to lure bears to them.

I think many hi-sec mission runners would happily go to lo-sec if it was not for the awkward fact that they may well lose their pve fit ship to a gang of pvp fit ships.
Can you see that this might be a problem? You want fries with that? |

That's a bad idea... I don't know why I am bothering reading or posting in a NickYo thread, but I will talk to you. Slave implants, Snake implants, and the like are a huge advantage on the battlefield. These happen to be a huge advantage that I cannot afford. If I can't afford it, I damn sure better be able to blow yours up to level the playing field. Although making it where noone ever loses implants, the price of implants would plummet, it's still a poor idea. High end pvp implants shouldn't be worn by everyone. It is already incredibly hard to lose a pod in low-sec anyways. Any pod loss in low sec is operator error since pods insta warp faster than the most sebo'ed out inty could lock and point. |

I can see no supers in Low being ok. Though it would make moving them a logistics nightmare. I saw something the other day about turning Low into a Ghetto ran by Pirate NPC corps or something. I liked that. The idea of PC sov in Low kind of defeats its purpose though. The biggest problem I have with Low is the inability to beef up security there in any significant way. That is why I'll never go there. I also respect that it why some people go there. They can play in low. I'll just pass on by in my cloaky. |

Personally the security buff to low will be good. Right now the fear is the gate camp of stupid blob that ensures your demise. Kinda hard to pvp when its evp So instead forcing it away from the chokepoints of thou shalt pass means that more people will go to low. Will it be as easy to pirate? No, but that is because right now all you need to pirate is a ship that handles 250 dps Personaly I find that the people most wanting others out of hisec are the next barge gankers. |

James has a good point.
Problem is the following:
Increasing rewards in low sec will not move people who want to mine/ratt/mission in peace to move their.
And removing these items from high sec will just make the above people, those unwilling to deal with the bs of low sec., just quit and go play another game.

any "great idea" that comes from MR Holier than thou James514, is always geared at the expense of high-sec players. I agree with your correction of that post!
Not sure how many times I have to type it, leave high-sec alone! BUT use it as a starting point for industry in low to null that has bonuses improve the lower in sec you get.
Why do I not have an industry POS? because the bonuses for industry suck. I'd rather just buy the zydrine and megacyte off the market to complete my build orders and write it off as a cost of doing business. With the horrible refine rates and poor excuses for "bonuses" of industry in low/null, it is very unattractive from an operational standpoint.

Meh, I dunno. Maybe low doesnt have the best returns ISK wise. It has the best return fun-wise, IMO. I'd support any idea that gets more people in there though. My "entepeneurship" into low isn't buffing my wallet with crazy 0.0 of WH numbers, but Standings agreements with other corps give me enough sense of security to make it worthwhile to PI, rat and explore there instead of hisec. If other people want in on that Standings deal and feel more secure in our belts, all they have to do is derp in local and pull a stunt or two to get our attention. Lowsec feels a lot safer when you also play the social game.
If you are still new to the game, the rewards offered in lowsec are good money. All it takes is a little gamble at the start of your carreer. Later on (say after a few months) the ISK returns will be pale in comparison of what you know about WH or nullsec. That's fine actually. I'd see more merit in something that goes along with the Standings system. I like the idea of systems being somewhat controlled by shady corporations and pirate gangs, that can still stab each other in the back if they really want to. Players should be a little more creative with lowsec mechanics I think.
There's a lot more ISK to syphon out of lowsec then immediately visible. If you can maintain a social status quo in a given system, it's almost as safe (Maybe even safer!) to PI, rat and explore as any hisec system, with a little better returns and far less competition. A different game then just grind must be played in order to keep up your house of cards though. If you dislike that game and want hard-coded guarantees pilot X will not attack pilot Y, then lowsec just isn't your game. |
