So for some strange reason I decided to venture into the civilian miner market. It soon became clear that this was not a market that would make me rich. But hey, an isk is an isk so I posted the stuff I had bought for like 11 isk back up for like 290isk.
Didnt put any more tought into it. And im a passive trader who dont bother with 0.1isk wars. Not logged into the character for like a week. Logged back in today and saw like 400 extra mill then I expected to see. Also, for some reason someone had sent me a mail.
It contained the following:
To: Biutch,
Здраствуйте, я по ошибке купил у вас товар за 410.000.000 , и я прошу вернуть хотябы половину суммы.
Good afternoon, I have by mistake bought from you the goods for 410.000.000 , And I ask to return хотябы half of sum.
Den guten Tag, habe ich aus Versehen bei Ihnen die Ware fnr 410.000.000 gekauft , Und ich bitte, хотябы die HSlfte der Summe zurnckzugeben.
This guy is a linguist or something. He speak 3 languagues, not including l33t speech. Would think he was smart.
Anyways, here is the screenshot of the transaction. I found it funny:

This happens all the time, it's happened to me (twice), and probably occurs dozens of times every day. What you've found is just a person that made a mistake and it has little to do with the market at all. This is a completely random occurance. Now, judging by your screenshot (your link is censored, by the way) that may be the most ISK you've ever owned, and it's not my role to tell you what to do with it, but the guy's mail seemed pretty reasonable.

Why do you pay 400 mill for a civilan miner? And not even once, you did it twice!!!
And yes this is my main account, im a poor trader and I trade in items with no margins!

Who said I paid? I'm telling you that this happens all the time and no one cares. Keep the money if you want, or return it. Why are you even posting, is 410m really that significant to you?
Pat yourself on the back and triple post for good measure

I got 300m+ for an Iteron Mark III once. Made me chuckle. Not as much as the dopey fools who regularly me 1b for a PLEX.

The buyer tried to buy from a specific sell order, which cannot be done. You always buy from the lowest priced sell order, and that order gets whatever amount was paid.
Likely, he was trying to transfer or launder ISK by posting a Civilian Miner sell order for a silly high price on one account, and then buying from it with another character.
People often make this mistake because they don't understand how the market works.

This is certainly one possibility. Of course there are the people that count on impatient, drunk, or careless people hoping they misclick and buy from one of these orders.

This is almost certainly an isk laundering scheme. There are very few reasons to do this outside of RMT activity. Someone was either trying to transfer funds to a straw man account, or attempting to send funds to a client via the market.
If you haven't petitioned this activity already, you need to.

that is indeed true, hence the whole scam contract market, as long as theres fish to fish, theres fishermen that'll gladly do the job. market inflating is just a slightly different technique with the same concept

This seems indeed to be most likely cause. Petition it, they will propbably let you keep the isk. It's better than getting banned or sitting somewhere with negative isk in wallet for buying RMT isk when they eventually nail the isk seller.

If you select an item selling for a higher price in the same station, then you end up paying that price for the cheapest item in that station, because of how the market is set up

Back in 2009 when I started EVE i wasn't sure if i'd stick w/ it so I tried exactly that market FAIL launder to pass ISK from one trial accnt to another. I lost the ISK, cried, then laughed, and decided to give CCP money after all.
A few weeks later somebody scammed me by doing the trade window item switch on a Stabber Fleet Issue. I was totally bummed (lost like 70 m). I sent them a polite monolingual evemail acknowledging that I'd been had, but asking for their generosity as i was a noob. They gave back like half the ISK.
So, even some of those cruel scammers have a heart.
