I am not gonna say, add supernovas, cause everyone will flame me back to hell. But why not add a dozen of systems that all ready had supernovas in the past, and are now dark dark places, with no sun light. Maybe no cap recharge aye (assuming cap recharge is from the sun like superman)
in additions, A system that had a supernova, may have more chances of having multiple roids. system can have no planets. but 100s of belt rings. or jsut grids and grids of rich roids from planet bits :P
So, no place to hook up your pos, or outpost. But the possibility for a fortune in mining. maybe a precious new ore like gold that you can sell to npcs like you do with overseers, and price can go up and down depending on how many people do it.
New type of structure.
While im brain storming, a little storage defensive structure that adds the power of a battleship but worth 10 times more can be hooked on the grid for auto protection, and only one allowed in grid.
Ok stupid idea, scratch that :P.

Why it would be nice to see the remains of supernova. Who in their right mind would want to build an jump gate there. So it would have to be a wormhole space, in which case why would the sleepers have a base there?
If you look at the back story, the jump gates rely on the gravity of stars to operate.
As for ships been solar powered, have a look at the tech 2 componets, Ammar are anitmatter, Galanty are gravity, Caldari are fusion and Mimitar are nuclear powered if memory serves.
As for a system with no plants but lots of roids, CCP have had system wide roids on the drawing board for years. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

hmmm, i should read them than. :D
although, i meant to say that a system was normal like any system, with gates and all. than the sun went super nova. so all that remain is the gates pwered by whatever, and debris all over.

Like this idea.
To counter the stargate argument: some supernovas do not completely eradicate the star ( had to look it up but allegedly, a neutron star may be formed from a supernova ) so there would still be a sizeable gravity well.
The lack of true celestials does bother me though, but if one were to throw in a few "shattered" planets at extreme distances ( 100+au? ) or have clusters of belts without planets would be neat. Could also have the system have an increased probability of grav/ladar sites.
Problem though is how CCP would implement these systems into the storyline/gameplay: just an even creation of these systems throughout the entire EVE universe or create them as special null-sec areas? The lack of moons would prevent sov/POSes.
Off-Topic Thought: Having some sort of bunker with a cargo capacity far greater than 3,600 m^3 with a single gun and stats equivalent to a high-tier BS would be interesting in that sort of situation. Would require alot of balancing to make truly useful though. Could have bare minimum fuel requirements as a compromise ( not to mention the lack of a reinforced mode ).

The only unique system in eve is jita. thing a handfull of ones like what i proposed will just add a tiny bit of variety. What i hate about WH is that you have to scan them, wish it wasnt the case, and system scanner was more than capable.

I would love to see more use of 'terrain' in Eve - gas giant rings, comets, being near stars of varying types should all have strong effects on how well your ships are able to operate.
Want to fight near a star? your shields are already cooked trying to keep your ship safe from solar radiation and forget about overheating modules
Want to fight in a gas giant ring or asteroid belt? Your ship is going to move slower to avoid catastrophic collisions with debris and your armor is going to get dinged all the time, also lasers would be diffused by the dust particles.
Want to fight in a comet tail? Sensors/semsor links get nerfed and projectile/hybrids and missiles have problems with accuracy.
I think it would make the game far more varied as opposed to every location being extremely predictable (other than WH space)

Terrain in EVE would be excellent, It might change fight locations for once instead of always having them at gates, POS' or at Stations...

this thread aint really about terrain and environment ideas. there are lots of threads like that, this is about a whole system with different entities than planets and sun.
