Saw a strange thing last night, a thick beam of pixcels coming out of no-where across space, but only visible on certain viewing angles.
Anyone else see this happen?
Looks like a sort of coding glitch that needs looking into.

I am occasionally presented with a graphics glitch whenever there is a Catalyst (Gallente Destroyer) in view, and it glitches in a way that it becomes infinitely stretched across space. The Catalyst also has a couple other graphics glitches.

I see this occasionally myself, normally when I am inside a POS. I just shift my camera til it goes away. --Vel

Like the main section of the hull disappearing, while engines, weapons, etc fly in formation with each other, despite lacking a hull to attach to? Yes!

I get this when there is a Catalyst on my overview. My own Catalyst never causes it, and NPC Catalysts never cause it, only ones flown by other players when in my overview. I have an ATI Radeon HD card, but I believe people with Nvidia get it also.
Sometimes Catalysts also show up with no frame, just the 4 jet-engine like constructs not being held together by anything, floating in space, and very rarely as a twisted ball of metal with various spinning parts sticking out of it.
It's been around since I first started playing over 2 years ago, and I don't think CCP will ever fix it.

Edited by: Melkath Bandrom on 29/12/2010 14:42:40 I get a weird image when I am slowboating out of a POS. I have the ship view backed off a ways so the ship is small in my view and I have the view looking straight down the beam of the ship. When my "camera point of view" passes through the POS FF, I get a weird swirling graphic that freaked me out when I first saw it in my corps wspace POS. My corp mates thought I was sampling natural pharmaceuticals... til I explained it and they tried it and saw it too...lol. Most interesting graphic it is...

It's a model/texture problem. Happens when a texture ends up stretched across the screen, usually to a point (making it triangular/ray like). Can be a sign of many things. Broken model (the catalyst has been notorious for display issues for years), graphics driver problem, slightly overheating vidcard...

I have a new one from Sisi.. just one day ago. Some low sec system, reddish background. HDR and everything on max. Turned the camera to the sun and then slowly away from it.. whole screen suddenly is bright white. Sometimes it stays white, other times it's like a flash. I'm curious if this makes it to TQ on the 18th of January support Public Idea Tracker | 24hr PLEX |

I get this probably 30% of the time when I use target painters. It flashes red lines all over my screen unless I move the camera angle about.

No, but as posted there is a Catalyst in the belt, but this BIG black and white pixcellated beam looks to be coming from an Iteros mining laser.

I've seen the glitch the OP describes. Usually only when there are more than 200 pilots nearby. The Catalyst is often glitched out for me as well.

Graphics bugs ahoy, usual culprits -
a Catalyst, a Target Painter, a stargate, sun not occluding correctly, dodgy bloom effect (turn it off if you have hdr or AA on)
none of the above and you wear spectacles... |

Catalyst seems to be the cause of a lot of this, reading the above. My experience has been with both catalysts and some POS control towers. (Caldari, I think) It's really rare though. Rifter 3D

I am overwhelmed by the sheer intellect of that reply, did you work on it or did it come in a flash of dull wittedness?
