Edited by: Turiya Flesharrower on 18/01/2005 23:29:48 Since videos seem to be a little hard to find lately I decided to make one of my own. I raided the 4/10 Guristas complex in Aunenen with my Moa and took FRAPS footage along the way. The GUI was disabled during all filming so it's all very fast and clean. Sony Screenblast was used to add some nice text and transitions between scenes and I overlayed some music that fits quite nicely with the action :D
Please download and tell me what you think. I had a lot of fun making and editing this video so any constructive criticism that might help in future projects is welcome ;)

What setup were you using on your moa? I would be hesitant to pit mine against that many cruisers. Cool music btw

Edited by: Ermenegildo Zenya on 19/01/2005 00:13:13 stunning first track, what artist is that? About the movie, great FPS what pc specs are yours? About the plot and editing it sometimes is a bit boring (too long fly bys) but mostly nice cuts and those explosions.... mmmmm. And of course I congratulate u on that moa setup. :)

On a sensible note, great movie m8! though the ending was a bit of an anticlimax.. the sound got me going, explosions kept me interested then the ending.. just didn't feel like it was the end, was expecting more... maybe i just wanted more!
great movie.. if you want something to watch download it!

I set it up to use Heavy Beam Lasers because it's damn hard to pick up every bit of loot when your cargo hold is half-full with hybrid charges.
Highs: 4x Heavy Beam Laser I, 2x Heavy Missile Launcher
Mids: Medium Capacitor Battery I, 1x Medium C5-L Emergency Shield Overload, 1x Thermal Hardener, 1x Kinetic Hardener
Lows: 2x Reactor Control Unit II, 2x Capacitor Power Relay I
Tanks damage quite well and has a fairly high damage output too. 36km optimal range with radio crystals.

The first track is "Between Heaven and Earth" by Yoko Kanno, it's from the Macross Plus sound track. I thought the beginning was a bit long too but I was trying to match it to the length and style of the music so it had to be boring with no explosions.
My PC Specs: Athlon 64 3500+ 1GB Mushkin Enhanced PC3200 RAM Radeon X800 Pro ViVo flashed and overclocked to X800XT PE Audigy 2 2x Hitachi Deskstar 160GB in RAID 1 (this is what I recorded to), 1x WD Caviar 120GB, 1x Seagate Barracuda 160GB
Having the GUI disabled significantly increases recording FPS. My video settings were at 1600x1200 with 4xAA and 16xAF. FRAPS was set to record at full size and 30 FPS, it worked quite well.

Edited by: Leafo on 19/01/2005 09:16:09 Very good video and a great choice of music! Very cool camerawork also.
You wanted some constructive criticism...
I don't think the intro was too long but it didn't fit to well with the music. The style of the clips was just just right but not the speed of the clips. What I mean is that it felt a little bit "twitchy". Try to slow down the clips/transitions to better fit the pace of the music.
In the second part I thought that it was very good though.
Keep up the good work!

Nice vid. I also like the tracks ^^
According to the video captures, personaly, I would have added something more nervous as track. Something like System of A Down...Like "Psycho" or "Dear dance"...But it's personal.
U said you are running on a RAID 1 config? Why not RAID 0? (Except if you feel safer with miroring) (\_/) (O.o) (> <)=Oveur (proof) "Jumping 50 systems I can like, have sex 150 times during that period" |

The second track is "Four Kicks" by The Kings of Leon, they have a lot of good trakcs like that. I'd recommend "Molly's Chambers", "Red Morning Light" and "California Waiting".

I was trying to make the video a little different to the norm so I declined to add heavy metal or anything seriously hectic/loud (although I love Berserk 2, great vid). Four Kicks is a favorite track of mine and the lyrics seemed to fit nicely too.
I run the drives in RAID 1 for data preservation to be honest; I have a couple of years worth of downloads on the array that I want to keep safe :D

Yoko Kanno made several OSTs for several animes, including, Macross Zero, GITS:SAC, Arjuna, Brain Powered and Visions of Escaflowne - A Girl in Gaia (movie), among others...

PS: reccomended OST by Yoko Kanno -> Visions of Escaflowne - A Girl in Gaia OST. the epic type songs suit EVE very well -------------------

It's funny you should mention that Grimpak because it just so happens that the first version of this video (which was 14 minutes long) included the tracks "Black Escaflowne" and "Dance of Curses II" from that very album. I just posted the shorter version because I figured it would have more universal appeal.

Codec paks are very very very bad, especially if you install any Microsoft games; even more so when one of the codecs gets updated but the pak itself does not.
VideoLan handels almost all codecs, and is free (and you can even choose diffrent video tracks, diffrent audio tracks, and even soft-subtitles).

Ah, yeah i know that complex, is also quite doable in a hawk, takes a while to kill all, but it can tank all those cruiser/frigates... good job in a moa though, i wouldn't think that a moa could tank that all.
