You have to grind for isk?
I guess going to sc2 is a good choice for you then.

Edited by: Kattshiro on 29/12/2010 19:23:48 I wouldnt call it strategic....or tactical. It's old school blob micro manage economy RTS.
I conquer with COH guy, or Total war. Dont get me wrong I own SC2, but not for the depth rather the fluff factor.

I plan to play SWTOR when it opens. I know from past experience that most mmo's dont live up to thier hype. I will always play EVE but not as much.

Yeah, can't deny EVE is very grindy - like having a 2nd job. You either log in to mine ore, farm NPCs/missions, update market orders, guard a gate, etc.
But SC2 is no better. You start a game and have to do a specific build order as quick as possible - over n over again. Heck I play 100% of the time random race and always try to do something new - one time as terran go mass marines with drop ships, next time Thors, next time cloaked banshees. Yet its still becomes a repetitive bore quickly. But for me worst part is how stressful SC2 can become. You have to be so hyper twitchy to be successful. Cant be healthy playing too much of that..

Sure you can. It's about as grindy as you make it ù if you choose not to grind, there is none (unless you expand "grind" to mean "do anything for a longer period of time", in which case all games that you play for more than 3-4 minutes are grindy). ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Eve is only grindy if you make it grindy. So open a browser and surf away or watch shows or talk to friends etc etc etc and watch the time fly by as your wallet grows fatter.

SC 2 is lame...
thanks for bringing up the topic
No strategy, no tactics... swarms of units, all units are identical. With almost similar range. WH40K did all that but in much greater way, it was at least playable.
I stick to Command and Conquer, at least Westwoods set the proper gameplay once upon a time. In C&C tanks don't own infantry and infantry can not be faster than vehicles.
In SC2 things are stupid and all you need is spam marines.

What Aureus said, really. I can't deny that EVE has repetitive elements to it, but your reasoning that Starcraft 2 is thrilling for more than a few hours is beyond me. I was bored with it in about 14 days (which is long for games that came out after 2000). It's good, but it has nothing on EVE.

starcraft 2 seems more like starcraft 1 v2.0, in what it seems that it's just starcraft 1 with some minor gameplay adjustments, a graphical engine upgrade and some cool HD movies strapped in.
in sum, the cut-scenes are pretty much 90% of the gamevalue. ---

PS. On the off chance you weren't trolling, you need to play more RTS games.

Are you saying that you literally have to strap your eyes and entire conscious effort to a 3 minute mining cycle and cannot do anything else at all during the dead time in between? That you have never heard of an afk mission domi? Does it takes longer than 10 minutes or so to update your market orders? Do you stare unflinchingly at the gate willing it to fire and deliver a fat freighter filled to the brim with exspensive goodies unto your camp? If you answered yes to any of those questions then you deserve to be bored to death working a 'second job'.
