I just got my character into an Orca, how do I make sure it is giving the bonuses to the the Hulks that are mining in my Fleet, what leadership skills do I need.
I currently have:
Leadership 5 Mining Foreman 5 Mining Director 5

you need to have the fleet setup so that all the members are receiving their bonuses, when its correct there will be a green check in the corner of the fleet window. first open the fleet options and select "show as hierarchy" the orca pilot needs to be above the rest of the members in the fleet with properly skilled pilots filling any command positions between the orca and the squad members
fleet window could look like this
-FC <empty>
-WC - (orca with wing command 2, each level of WC adds up to one additional squad)
-SC1 - (pilot with at leadership 5) -squad members -( no more then 2 for every level of the SC's leadership skill)
-SC2 - (pilot with at leadership 5) -squad members -( no more then 2 for every level of the SC's leadership skill)
------------- the following will also help your mining boost amount
industrial command ship warfare link specialist mining foreman mindlink (implant requiring cybernetics 5 but gives HUGE bonus )

Note that you can quite happily boost a fleet of hulks with just Leadership. Put yourself in the Squad Commander role (forming a fleet puts you in the Fleet Commander role by default), all the hulks in that one squad under you.
There is more verbiage regarding fleets in the Fleet Options article of the EVElopedia. -- [Aussie players: join ANZAC channel] |

Edited by: Sassums on 03/01/2011 04:25:52 It will be just the orca and a hulk, so two in the fleet.
How would I set that up?
Zanzbar I guess I don't follow this part of your post:
industrial command ship (What do you mean? I have an Orca, and am trained in the Industrial Command ship to level 4) warfare link specialist (Not sure what this is?) mining foreman mindlink (I have this)

Quote: warfare link specialist (Not sure what this is?)
It's a skill, purchasable on the market.

Industrial Command Ship - The Orca gets/gives a couple nifty benefits per level of this skill trained. Larger cargohold for the Orca, and the mining gang-links fitted and active will be just a bit more effective.
Warfare Link Specialist - You *REALLY* want this trained. ALL ganglinks you run will be so much more effective.
Mining Foreman Mindlink - Turns your fleet mining bonus into something really nice (Doubled)
For the fleet, with your current skills listed... Fleet commander: Empty (you don't have the skills or enough people) Wing commander: Empty (Again, not enough people or skills) Squad commander: Sassums (in Orca) (You've got the skills for this spot, so sit HERE) Squad(1) member: Any guys in Hulks. (limit of 10 with your skills)
Done correctly, everyone would be seeing green marks in the fleet window while undocked in the same system. Red marks mean there's no benefit/bonus being passed down. _______________________________

Build fleets from the bottom-up:
* You must have one squad member. * You must have one Squad Commander (SC). * Wing Commanders (WC) are optional. If you have a WC, you must have at least one SC. * Fleet Commander (FC) is optional. If you have a FC, you must have at least one WC.
Anyone can be assigned the role of a booster, but the default is the FC/WC/SC positions. Right-click current booster to Revoke Booster, and then right-click the person you want to assign as booster.
The fleet booster boosts himself and the entire fleet. The wing booster boosts himself and all squads in his wing. The squad booster boosts himself and all members in his squad.
Being a booster does not require being able to lead, so a booster that doesn't have FC skill can still be a fleet booster if somebody else with enough skill is FC. Same applies to wing & squad boosting.
If boosters give the same type of boost, only the highest one is applied.

Okay thanks I have that all set up, my mining amount per cycle on the hulk is only 1900. Is that about what everyone normally gets?
Sassums is in the Hulk with 2 implants giving a 10% bonus and my alt is in the orca with the mining foreman implant giving a 15% bonus.

Only the highest bonus gets applied. Bonuses are passed downward. Squad commander/booster passes bonuses down to squad members.
With your current setup, put the ALT as squad commander and fire up a couple mining ganglinks. _______________________________

... or revoke booster status from the squad leader and set the squad member to squad booster.

Sassums is in the Hulk, I have Michi's (Spell?) and the Highwall HX-2 which both give a 5% boost.
My alt is in the Orca with the mining foreman mindlink, which gives a straight 15% bonus, correct?
So in total I should be getting a 25% bonus, correct? Or am I missing something?

Bonuses are multiplicative, not additive.
(1 + 5%) * (1 + 5%) * (1 + 15%) = 1.267875 so about 26.8%
Then there is the gang link which reduces cycle time, so effectively increasing yield.

What you just showed me is basically what I said, correct? I am getting 15% from the Mining Foreman MindLink which is on my alt, and 10% from my main miner which is in the hulk.
I am just curious if the 10% bonus my Hulk Pilot has, that only applies to himself, will stack on the 15% bonus the Orca Pilot is giving me from the Mining Foreman mindlink, which I am aware replaces the bonus you would get from the leadership skills required to get the mindlink.

The 5% bonus from the Highwall plus the 5% from the Michi's doesn't give you 10%, it gives you 10.25%. Multiply that by the 15% bonus from the Mining Foreman Mindlink, so you end up with 26.78%. Almost 25%, but 1.4% better!

Okay but at the end of the day, those bonuses are stacking, correct?
It's just without the ORca I get around 1700 per cycle, with the Orca I get 1900, plus the cycle time is reduced, I just assumed I would get more.

best way to compare is to not think in yield/cycle but in yield/minute.

Or more realistically, yield/hr - since it emphasises the fact that you're going to be mining for a long, long time ;)
And it's a figure that is more easily converted to ISK/hr!

How do I figure that yield out?
Per minute or per hour?

oh dear...
Simply put, take yield per cycle, divide it by cycle time. Then multiply that by however many cycles you will have in an hour.
Example. Strip miner is base of 3 mins.
Yield/Min, 1700/3...
Yield/Hour, (1700/3) x 60. Then multiply by number of lasers.
