Now if this has been posted before I do apologize.
But..I'm lazy, I mission while I watch TV and such..so kill missions aren't my cup of tea like they used to be..so I've moved on to the manufacture/production agents - mostly hauling this..buying that, with a kill thrown in every blue moon.
So I figure, I'll try a lvl.4 agent..instead of 500m3 on avg cargo, maybe it'll be 6000, sometimes up into the 20-30k m3 range.
Well...I was wrong..maybe luck of the draw but I managed to land a multiple route(I missed the last zero so instead of 60k, i saw 6k), 170,000 m3 worth of cargo mission for , 1,000,000 isk. Now I realize some specialized haulers have 30,000 m3 on there V's...now I'm not V pilot and can cram about 15,000 m3 on my best, but I digress..even if I was a full time hauler pilot, no way i'd move that much cargo over I estimate 20 jumps for 1 million isk. It'd take hours...
Any who, with the back story filled in I'm curious. Was this a fluke mission? Is this the norm..if so, do people actually do this mission?
The question it really raises is the reward worth the work - I think not.
PS: Not trying to complain, I'm just curious to others reactions.

Edited by: Joshua Foiritain on 20/01/2005 13:29:25 Its quite normal, Level 4 missions where designed for groups. Theyre all quite doable with 2 Indys though. (1mk 4 and 1 mk 5) ---------------------------

But is 1 mil worth it?

Ok, so the lvl 4 missions are suposed to be done in groups, taking the above example, 170,000 m3 to deliver for 1M isk, if we use 2 V's that can haul 30000m3 each it will take around 6 round trips each, that will lead to 166k isk per haul and only one player gets lp's. What is the benefit of doing lvl 4 courier missions? Maybe I'm missing something, I just woke up and I almost never done courier missions, mostly kill. Oh, and yes, we can make some profit out of lvl 4 kill ones, as long as you're not alone when your connection lags :(. (my insurance company doesn't like that)

I suppose lvl 4 courier missions were meant for when frieghters or T2 industrials are released.

I know which mission you're talking about.
Every single time I've had this mission I've been asked to move secure containers all over the universe. You can't fit such containers within another so it's impossible for all of us to get more than 25211m3 of cargo hold in an industrial.
The bonus limit ranges from 45 minutes to 165 minutes.
The ISK reward is perhaps not that big, but the LP reward is on par with the hardest kill mission and is over 4000LP if you have a decent agent. That is well worth it in my eyes.

Usually you get 1/1.5 mill payout and the same bonus. Often the bonus is 2.5 hours and thus quite easy to get (If you have 2 haulers).
Overall its a lot better then level 3 missions
The question of course is what theyre gonna do once freighters come out, theres sort of no point to these missions if anyone with a freighter can solo them. ---------------------------

It's just a shame that you can't share the faction standing boosts for group missions. Though, I do suppose having everyone taking missions has the same effect for corp standing over time.

I have a level 4 courier agent that I run, and yes missions like this are quite common, but more over in my case they are welcome due to the large amount of LPs they dish out. I am not a hugely combat oriented pilot. Sure I enjoy hunting in .1 or .2 space on occasion, but most level 4 kill missions (or at least those that don't require me to kill 5-6 pathetic cruisers) are a little more effort than I care to put into a mission. Instead, I hit the autopilot and go mess around with my gamecube for a bit. Easiest damn LP you can get... so long as you are prepared to not get the bonus and spend an hour or so moving the junk around. So personally I would like to keep these missions... I so enjoy getting 4600 lp in one pop.

Freighters will prolly require lvl5 Indy... that's a lot of investment. And lvl4 kill missions were also 'not meant to be done solo', yet everyone and his mum is doing them solo.
I don't see the problem...

I hope they do.

True but alteast people are having some problems with them when doing solo. When a freighter can haul the entire load in 1 go then it kind of removes the point
Or it could put them on par with kill mission profit, which isnt all that bad ---------------------------
