Originally by: PLEX Transporter Are we still getting the new neocom? CCP Optimal wrote this in his dev blog about it: "The new NeoCom BETA will be hitting TQ as part of the main Incursions release, January 18th 2011, and SISI before Christmas."
but I can't find any info about it in the patch notes
Introduced or not, I won't be using it. All it does is move the old neocom into a menu and switch minimized windows from text to icon (and most windows in EVE are represented by the same 2 icons.) I stopped using ctrl-tab when it switched to icons, and switching the minimized windows to icons is even more fail. New neocom is reduced usability of the client.
Hopefully CCP realized the new neocom is fail and will make it suck less before releasing it into the wild.

Agree 100%. The new neocom is a solution looking for a problem, it's not really broke and it doesn't need fixing. It's making it look prettier to please the OH SHINY crowd. |

Well, sort of interesting. You can't anchor anything in 0.4's that you can't anchor in highsec, so no moon mining or reacting or drug manufacturing, or much else that makes a k-space POS worth it's fuel costs. Only benefit is that now 0.4 can have more drive-by POS bashing targets versus research POSes owned by people who don't know enough to put their research POSes in highsec alt-corps.

I didn't say it's terribly useful, I just said interesting.

hmmmm
I posted stated that this appears to be a re-worked FW mechanic.
From my understanding it will fail in the exact same way the FW mechanic does within 3h after downtime everynight.
I guess that is sensitive, my post, deleted.

Lets get this straight.....
The goal of this expansion is to replace player pirates with NPCs?
Here is a scenario:
A) Lowsec/Highsec border constellation with systems from both. B) Pirate "locals", not many living in the highsec border systems in comparison. C) Sansha invade the constellation. D) Locals with negative sec status can't close the highsec plex. E) Within 30mins to 3h after downtime no plex can be forced into target systems. F) Perm Sansha in the constellation with no degrade as it's an active pipe. G) Player Pirates move away from the negative bonus and are replaced with NPCs.
It's the same way FW mechanic is broken with sov and constellation borders.

Sorry for stupid question, but that it means? It's just inaccessibility of basic attributes(all 17) for remap, right?

Having a speshul moment:
One just logs into Tranquility once it's up to get the patch? Or do I need to DL and run something else first? Because just logging into Tranquility (notionally up) is telling me incorrect version.
Thanks.

Can CCP confirm if the new NeoCom is included in Incursion? Patch notes make no mention of it...

I feel for the guys still running SSE2 but at the same time agree with CCPs standpoint of that 0.3% of the playerbase use hardware that is fairly out of date.
Very much looking forward to new release :D

There go my three accounts. Good-bye eve.
Get out of the past and upgrade, Hardware moves fast, and for software to develop the software users have to have the right hardware,
As some have said alreaddy,
Deal with it.

LOL there is NO new neocon, there is a possibility to test STUFF when in BETA like the new neocon, this will be released, it is not officialy out, but you will be able to turn the beta version on if you want. This is only meant for testing and giving feedback to CCP.

Hmm, thanks for the advice
I just spent a bunch of תתת upgrading my video card and RAM so I could play Eve on my Server, Twin PIII 1400mhz , 3gb RAM and 512mb Graphics. What a waste. Looks like I'll be returning to the laptop. A bit more notice would have been good for us poor suckers with older (But still very capable and v.reliable) hardware.
Not just a simple matter of replacing a Processor, or even a system board. Shopping list will be Processor System Board RAM New Case and PSU
Basicly, we're talking a new PC.
