something everyone in eve should know that could be a danger in they're corps long prosperity. Indy corp especially are at risk to a hyperinflation and Jita might crash if to many corps invest in such assets. It has come to my attention that super manufacturing corporations and industrial ones alike can and will drive commodity prices through the absolute threshold of what has been deemed possible.
We are already experiencing a increase of these sales from ammo to cattle. Over the years tracking certain valuables such as ammo of all variants, as well as dog tags the prices have shot up in value 200% over 3 years. And with the expected incarna which will explode the new customer base brought to CCP through its Walking in stations, Character Creator revamp, and I expect eve to grow over the next 1 year of 35%. We are already seeing this, 59k players logged in for 2 days of last week. and saw another 57k player spike in this last week. Imagine up to 78k of players and most likely 27k competing in major markets such as Jita, Rens, and Amarr. Every one will want a piece of the pie, every new player will out drive prices causing most to explode.
The key factors of this are: The revamp of the t2 ammo Making Regular consumables player controlled i.e robotics, Enriched uranium, and mechanics. An increased player base.
Imagine just regular ammo from a standard large crystal of lets say 100 Inter Stellar Kredits to 500 isk. Now what about Faction ammo with the regular player base increased it will mean more mission runners which then ppl can produce huge quantites of that same ammo turn it around for LP thus giving faction ammo prices which would normally be 200 isk and possibly rise to 600 isk.
And we've seen since Planetary Interaction was granted a slight rise then drop of POS fuels and now is back on the rise through many markets. They rose 10% in a month and then 15% and has since steadily grew from June to December. By this time next year its expected so alliances have to strain themselves to just keep running a small pos. Aswell as a 45% rise from present to the fuels themselves.
What can you do?? To avoid being disparately broke invest in all sorts of fuel, ammo, and consumables especially drugs. and when you see the markets take off like a friggin' space ship SELL SELL SELL. Also invest in small bpo's like frigs up to cruisers these will be high demand during the next year, also during the next few months and increase of price in battle cruisers and battle ships are expected to rise. Another sort of investment is a 30 PLEX these have grown up to 48% in the last 6 months, in the next 6 a 10% growth. With in a year the free to play option will go to the insanely rich.
Sign this petition to let the CSM and CCP know that they need to do something about a potential hyperintlating market!!!

Future post incoming:
I agree there is inflation in eve, due to the severe amount of isk hoarding performed by hi sec carebears who are too green to part with any of their 45 billion isk.
As a result I propose that we have to file tax returns once a year, like in the real world. This would add an element of realism and would take huge amounts of isk from the hoarders and make it vanish.

or increase materials for building consumables and reevaluate the value of a single isk.

I'm sorry. Can you repeat this in English? Maybe Market Discussions would be a better place for this topic?

Sorry, apart from being extremely hard to understand, your post makes no economic sense either.
The only thing that even might be a bit true is what you said about PLEX. New players buy PLEX though, so in the short term PLEX prices would fall. The real consumers of PLEX are the established players, and illegal RMT elements. If we got a massive influx of new players, and then the player base was stagnant for 2 years, then PLEX would spike extremely high. As long as the player base grows at a slightly increasing rate over time, PLEX is stable.
PI would fall from new players, mineral prices would probably fall too (PI and mining are things new players generally do, players generally move on to 0.0 warfare, wormholes, etc).

but the influx that is expected could damage the demand of things. thats what you need to worry about.

(a) Dr. EyjoG seems to care a lot more about inflation than most players I know of. Looking at the price indices in the devblogs I can't see any evidence for hyperinflation whatsoever.
(b) if you see prices rise, then sell sell sell? better hope you're trolling.

I couldn't parse it well enough to ascertain its economic validity. It seems like a troll/market manipulation. But, I'm an engineer, not an economist. :)

There is inflation? Prices of Ravens (by the way is my favourite ship) is still more or less the same as it was many years ago. In fact, there is deflation. LOL. 2003 Raven price was 99M. Today, it is 80M. LOL.

Edited by: Juliette DuBois on 16/01/2011 12:06:34 Edited by: Juliette DuBois on 16/01/2011 12:05:47 Hyperinflation can`t happen like in real world since CCP is not literally handing over money to customers (lol central banking system). Now, bots and such do contribute greatly to money supply growth but there is no way they can make it go up thousands of percents every year. I`m personally very tired of people complaining about few things going up as price, this is perfectly normal since EVE does not have as many money sinks as it has faucets.

Hmm, overall inflation currently at 5% according to the recent CSM minutes, according to the last qen the majority of that inflation was caused by PI. Looks fairly healthy to me.
There is an outside chance that due to recent economic difficulties the Icelandic government has been forced to call on Zimbabwe for aid. After sufficient retraining Dr EyjoG shall be implementing mugabenomics.

From what I remember from reading the QEN there are no hyperinflation or deflation for that sake in EVE. But even if there was CCP should do NOTHING about the case since that would be to interfere with the player economy. Some things are best regulated by its own in the game.

Stuff like ammo inflates because industrial players tend to move out of it to make bigger things instead. Margin is good, but at that volume, you won't be getting rich on making ammo.

Might happen, but it'll be primarily because of bots/macros not because of any of the factors you mention.
CCP needs to address the bot/macro issue or at least remove local in 0.0 until they do.
Of course, the last time CCP did what they were supposed to do was ? Oh yeah, when they backtracked on microtransactions. So maybe there IS hope.

Excuse me, but I'm confused about the interpretation of reality here. Doesn't talking about something as if it were real, say like talking about hyperinflation in Eve, depend on the thing being real first?
Also, reserved for future posting in case God rewrites the past or feeds some brains to certain people so that this thread makes sense.

the thing that seems to be overlooked is the lack of inflation tbh. Theres an ungodly amount of isk floating around and half the player base is rolling in enough most to buy a mothership(see super caps online). Theres no middle class in eve, either ur broke or you bill gates. High sec isnt the problem either, them carebears hoarding billions are a great isk sink, its 0.0 producing billions and billions a day out of thin air and ****ting out super caps.
